Staying at the CreekHouse is certain to be a vacation you will always remember.

Creek House Oasis

Peaceful, comfortable home away from home - but better! The rushing creek sounds, tree frogs and lightning bugs at dusk, the heavenly screened porch for sitting outside with a book and listening to the rain and thunder - all heavenly. The house was spotless with dozens of whimsical artistic touches, and the welcoming flowers and soft music set the tone for an incredibly restful break. Easy access to Carver Gap and the natural rhododendron gardens.

Late Spring Mountains Getaway

Our visit was planned to be close to Roan Mountain for the June rhododendron and flame azalea bloom. My wife and I met an old friend for a little hiking and a lot of catching up and visiting. The Creekhouse had all the amenities we needed. We especially appreciated the homemade cookies and personalized greeting. There were many little whimsical and beautiful touches in the house and around the gardens. The dueling frogs in the rock garden were everyone’s favorite. All the flowers and birds around the property made morning coffee even better. The secluded location so close to town and to Roan Mountain was perfect. Next time we will plan to stay longer!

Summer mountain getaway

Creek House was the perfect place for our family with two young kids to spend a few relaxing days. The creek was a great place to cool off and the house had all the comforts needed to rest after playing and hiking part of the day.

Perfect home away from home!!

My family and I had an amazing time during our visit. The owners go out of there way with 'special touches" around the home that made our stay very memorable. The home is beautiful and very well maintained!! Would love to come back in the spring and enjoy all their property has to offer!!!

Total Relaxation!

This is our second time staying at the Creek House and it was wonderful as always! Yindra and John are great hosts and provide a very clean, relaxing, and cozy space. The screened in porch is our favorite place to be with the sounds of the creek in the background. Great location to hiking Roan Mt as well! Highly recommend!

Incredible Mountain/River House

This was by far the best VRBO experience I've ever had. The house was immaculate and everything was set up to be so hospitable and welcoming. We loved the homemade cookies! The house sits on the most beautiful property, there was so much room for my dog to run and explore, we had a light snow while we were there and the setting was perfect. Will definitely be coming back!

Perfect in every way!

We loved our stay at your home. Just some of our favorites include: huge enclosed deck with plenty of comfortable seating, chipmunks playing in the boulder garden by the deck, quaint screened gazebo above the creek, beautiful mountain trout steam with mini rapids, well stocked kitchen with everything you'd need for a casual or classy meal, exceptionally comfortable king bed, plenty of hot water and plush towels in both bathrooms, comfy living room furniture, lots of music and DVDs, easy access to hiking trails. We hope to return for a longer stay.

Fantastic creekside property

If you have read the reviews---they are all accurate and true. This is a great creekside property. We spent most afternoons fishing in the creek with our kiddos and our dog. Ate most meals on the screen porch---it rained one evening while we dined and the sound was fantastic. Lots of great personal touches, a really good experience. Will definitely stay here again. If you are thinking of booking this property, do not hesitate....you will be glad you did!!

Creekhouse

My husband, our pup and myself stayed at the Creekhouse for our 10 year anniversary trip. What an amazing place! The house and grounds are simply beautiful. Our pup LOVED the creek in the backyard. Yindra and John thoughtfully left cookies for us and a dog biscuit for our pup. They also hung up a happy anniversary sign for us along with some beautiful flowers from their yard. The house was fully stocked with everything you could need. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the property. We will be back for sure!

Very Nice

The owners have thoughtfully paid attention to detail. A fresh (still warm) homemade pastry was left for us on the kitchen table as well as flowers and a personal welcome plaque. The house was comfortable with adorable decorations. A large screened porch provided a fantastic place to dine and relax in warm and cool weather. Every item one needs was furnished. The kitchen was equipped with new appliances and more than adequate cookware. A vast array of spices and even condiments were in the pantry. Other than not being able to completely close the door to the smaller bedroom, we experienced no problems. The property itself bordered on a beautiful creek and included a gazebo, a wooded boulder garden and a pond. Ample parking is available adjacent to the house. The location of the property was subpar. The view of the high mountain was marred by a house. Also too many houses were nearby. The small town of Bakersville was only three miles away. Dining was available there as well as groceries

Fall weekend away

My husband and our pups loved the Creekside Cottage! When we arrived, it was so nice to walk into the cozy house with music playing and cookies in the fridge for us. A note on the table with our names welcoming us, such thoughtful hosts! By far the most welcoming rental we have ever stayed at, and we have stayed at least over 2 dozen. The stream was fun to fish, my husband bought bait at the quickmart in town which was convenient. We had Hunt Brothers Pizza (host recommended) as was nice to not have to worry about meals. 15 mins from Carver's Gap at Roan Mountain, we hiked the Balds, our favorite hike. We drove to Linville and the BRP to see the leaves, definitely worth hiking to the waterfalls. This house is in a great location, the bed and bedding was so lovely and comfortable. We appreciated the DVD's which we cozied up and watched with the electric fireplace. I especially loved the decorating of the house. I love tiffany lamps and all the finishings down to the eclectic light switches. The stream is so relaxing to sit next to and fish. You do here dogs barking in the distance, but we are used to that as we have stayed at very high up rentals in the mountains many places and sound echoes, so it didn't bother us that much. The speaker system outside on the porch is great to play some soft jazz and eat dinner. I could go on and on. Just what we needed to unwind but also be close to hiking options. Thanks again Jindra and John. We hope to come back with our son!

The magic of CreekHouse brought us to North Carolina. Previously we lived at different parts of the word and spent the past decades in California but after visiting the CreekHouse we decided to leave everything behind and move to Bakersville North Carolina where we first bought another house. Few months later the CreekHouse got on the market, we couldn't resist and decided to buy it. The mountains surrounding Bakersville is the home of many artists, many of them have the similar stories; once they visited the area, decided to move here. We both studied art in Europe but life drifted us to other carriers, fortunately now we have the opportunity to continue our broken path. The beauty of the natural scenery is just indescribable; everyday is a wonder. When we are not at the CreekHouse, we are hiking, creating art, remodeling our other house, visiting galleries, taking pictures of the wonderful wildlife or practicing culinary art. We enjoy making people happy by sharing the CreekHouse with our guests.

Why they chose this property

The moment we saw this property we wanted to call it ours. The serenity of this property just magical. It is a labor of love to maintain the large lush landscaping with private creek bordering the property and a pond but it is worth every effort.
Deer, wild turkeys and many different birds are frequent visitors here, magical to watch them from the large screened porch. Spending time at CreekHouse is a life changing experience as many of our CreekHouse guests called it. We like the fact it is in the center of many activities; ski area, waterfalls, hikes, ziplining, gem mining, horse riding, rafting, Asheville, Johnson City, Burnsville, Spruce Pine. All within 45 minutes of drive which is in Los Angeles traffic term: “very close”.

What makes this property unique

Everything about this place is unique, but sitting on the front porch looking straight up at the Roan Mountain while listening to birds chatter ceaselessly against the background sounds of the rushing water makes it a place like no other. As if that were not enough, the spiritual private boulder garden located just to the left of the screened porch is a total unexpected delight.
