Amazing Family Getaway
My family stayed here for a long weekend while visiting family in NoVa. It’s an incredible property with plenty to do right there. The owner was really nice and welcoming and the house was in great condition. Lots of spaces to relax inside and out and easy access to NoVa although we really wanted to spend as much time as we could relaxing and playing around the property. Clearly a family place that is well loved and cared for. Thank you for a great visit!
Very nice property just like the ad. Enjoyed some peace and quiet for a week.
A visit to Grandma’s house on the river❤️
We swam, Julia jumped from the rope swing! We grilled at the lake we grilled on the porch! The river was just right for little ones to explore and splash!
We took naps got up and enjoyed the bonfire pit while counting lightning bugs and eating s’mores. The eight of us were very comfortable in the home and outside exploring the area. Marilee was very reachable and made sure we were comfortable. The home has a well stocked kitchen. We cooked all our meals for three days. We hung a hammock by the waterfalls and watched the kids play on the giant rope swing! The mornings we beautiful on the porch with the sounds of happy birds everywhere. The landscape with all the flower was very impressive! We loved visiting this home and hope to do it again:)thank you Marilee
We are more than happy when families come and have a good time.
We enjoyed watching Jane swing from the Tarzan rope
So glad you got to see the flowers in their glory.
Great for a get-away from the hustle and bustle of life. The rural area made it easy to slow down. The house was very nice, clean, and the owner personally met us at check-in and for a quick tour. The river was a nice addition. Even though the weather was cold, we enjoyed walking by the river and our dog loved running around down there.
It was a wonderful property very clean
It was easy and the owners were very attentive
The house sits on a hill overlooking the Rappahannock River
You can spend days touring the numerous wineries that are located around our area, 2 are within 3 miles of the house. Spring and fall bring the steeple chases, antique shops, art galleries, are within minutes, caverns to tour or hiking the Blue Ridge Mts. We are 20 minutes from Skyline Dr, 58 miles to DC and 40 miles to Dulles International Airport.
Other Activities: Our house overlooks the picnic area by the river where we have a lighted shelter with tables and grill along with lawn games.
Kids love the zig zag path to the river or take them to the lake for a swim. Or take the boat and paddles for a little fishing on the Lake Mosby where you can land a big bass. We have trails along the river to enjoy as well or just sit on the deck or patio and relax after touring DC or hiking along the Blue Ridge. We have numerouse vineyards to try along with antique shops, art galleries and horseback riding.
This was our summer home when I was growing up, in the late 80's my Mother remolded, and added on to the exiting cabin. She then sold her home in Arlington, Va and stayed there the rest of her days. I love sharing this place with people for I have lots of fond memories.
Owner purchased this House in 1956
Why Owner chose Amissville
This house was handed down to me. My siblings and I learned to swim in Lake Wilson and fish in Lake Mosby. We had lots of good times down on the river, We have had a wedding, and numerous pig roasts and of course tons of picnics.
What makes this House unique
Great place to make family and friends memories!
