Recent 2024 updates include replacing all remaining wall-to-wall carpeting with wooden floors in all bedrooms & upstairs hall & mid-stairwell platform; Replaced all kitchen & bathrooml floors with tile; Upgraded the kitchen refrigerator with a larger stainless steel one that dispenses filtered water & ice. Upgraded downstairs bathroom shower/tub & upstairs bathroom. Installed propane based on-demand hot water system & replaced the electric stove with a stainless steel gas one.

For 2025 replaced the electric dryer with a new gas dryer; Replaced dining room window with sliding glass door with shade inside the glass door; Installed shower/bathroom glass doors for both upstairs/downstairs bathrooms; Added 5th bedroom/Recreational Area combo in basement with half bath...

The 2026 plan is finishing the modernization of the basement;finish painting bedrm & bathrm walls & ceilings including living & dining & kitchen & closets too; stain house & garage & shower enclosure & outdoor deck; trim trees & bushes
& remove excess brush.

Our home is spacious, sunny, romantic, contemporary home located in desirable Island Grove community of MV. Our home boasts large wrap around deck with built in seating on a wooded, landscaped 1/2 acre lot with two floors, numerous large screened windows plus ductless A/C & naturally cool basement with dehumidifier. Home has dining room & huge living room with fireplace, ceiling fan, new 55" Samsung HDTV, lovely oak floors, handsome oversized sofas and fast WiFi. The modern kitchen contains newer items like sink, faucet, stove, microwave/exhaust fan, washer & dryer, all new kichen cabinets with quartz countertops; washer & dryer in basement; refrigerator relocated where washing machine & dryer were in kitchen framed with additional new cabinets; opened kitchen up to the dining room; etc. The bedrooms are spacious & nicely decorated with pretty comforters & if needed cooled with ceiling fans and seven ductless A/C air handlers and 2 condensers. Two very spacious master bedrooms with king size beds, one on 1st floor (with private bath & deck) & one on 2nd floor with sloping ceilings & TV; two more bedrooms each with two single beds. Each bedroom has a closet; master has a walk in closet as does one blue bedroom with twins. Both bathrooms have double sinks. Super clean basement/recreation room with TV/VCR/DVD. Two outdoor tennis courts are located over 200 yards behind the house in wooded area.. The front entrance of Island Grove zips you into Edgartown Village (Distance of 2 miles), while the back entrance will take you to the South Beach (Distance of 3 miles). Short 5 minute bike ride to Morning Glory Farm. Great Edgartown lake is just 1 mile away with barrier beach near South Beach accessible by kayak/canoe. Installed modern new ductless Heat Pump system for the 2019 season providing A/C or Heat and also replaced stove, refrigerator, combo fire/carbon monoxide units and most mattresses in 2018.

A Great House for Families in a Private Location

We stayed here for our family summer vacation with our 3 teens and friends and the property had everything you would need to relax and enjoy the house. We enjoyed the private location in a quiet neighborhood while also having easy access to both Edgartown and South Beach. We had a great week - highly recommend!

We recently had a nice week long vacation at this home. Location can't be beat. Close to both Downtown Edgartown and South Beach. Home is located in a wonderful , very quiet neighborhood. House is very private. John was very easy to communicate with.

Away from the Hustle and Bustle

This Rental Property was very Tranquil and Peaceful, only hearing birds chirping, and Natural ambience. The location was great, everything we needed was close to us. This was the Perfect Family getaway. Can’t wait to return!!

Great vacation home for families

Great home with tons of amenities for families! John, the owner was great and very accommodating. House is very clean and the four bedrooms made for a spacious stay. Great outdoor space and comfy lounge chairs to relax and eat dinner outside. The house also has two outdoor showers which was very helpful after a day at the beach. We would rent again. Thank you!

Quiet woodsy location

Location is great with nice yard and deck and new grill and outdoor shower. Well equipped home including bikes, games, towels, kitchen equipment. New a/c may need better regulation for both floors and house is a bit dark as it is in wooded location. Owner available easily for questions.

A wonderful home on the vineyard

Just returned from a wonderful week on MV. The home was immaculate and accommodating for our party of 8 (4 adults, 4 kids, 1 dog). The property is secluded and safe and well situated on the island. The kitchen, bedrooms, baths and playrooms are well stocked, comfortable and beautifully decorated. Appliances are new, bathrooms and kitchen recently updated and the home offers plenty of places to gather inside and out. Bikes and beach necessities were available and ready for use. No question that our hosts, John and Kathy, love their home and like to share it! No question, either, that we hope to return to 8 Night Heron next summer.

It's a real treat to stay with owners who take pride in their property and business. All the details were thought out and thought through. Kitchen utensils (coffee machine, mugs, wine glasses, grilling utensils), garbage bags, locks, wifi, modern laundry machines, instructions and check-in/check-out lists. Basement had boardgames and an additional bed/TV for visitors.2 Adult Bicycles on property were highly utilized. Outdoor showers as well. AC, plenty of hot water. 10 minute bike ride to town center, 2 mile walk/run, 5 minute drive. 5-10 minutes easy ride to South Beach. Local farmer market right down the road. Friendly neighborhood, friendly neighbors.Owners communicated directy with us. Texted instructions, checked in on us to make sure everything was working, recommended things to do on the island. Responded to questions we had. Highly recommended. We will be coming back for certain!Thank you John and Kathy!

Great family vacation home

Our family of 10 had a wonderful stay at this lovely vacation home. It's in a quiet, private location but is also close to towns and beaches. The house was immaculate, spacious and equipped with every we needed. The kitchen was very nice with newer appliances, plenty of dishes, glassware and cookware. Also appreciated the empty cabinet space to put away our food. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The owners also supplied linens, towels and beach towels. The livingroom was also large with a big screen TV, fireplace and plenty of seating. The basement was great for the kids with a ping-pong table, TV, movies, games and toys. Outside is a beautiful spacious deck with comfortable seating, 2 outdoor showers and a beautifully landscaped yard for the kids to play. We were also told we could use the bikes, boogie boards, beach chairs and toys that were in the garage. John and Kathy were the perfect hosts and were very easy to contact. This was the perfect vacation home for my family. We are looking forward to returning next year!

Great hosts and an awesome location

We had a great stay at this property with our family. John was really responsive and easy to communicate with, and the house was clean and spacious. They had lots of bikes and kids toys and gear for us to use. There were a fair amount of ants in the house, however it was apparent that they put a lot of effort into keeping the house clean and it seems like the ants may have been in there as a result of the neighbor's construction. The location was amazing, and John gave us so many great recommendations for local places to check out, and also helped us out with ferry bookings.

Wonderful Family Home

John and Kathy were the ultimate hosts Who went above and beyond to make our vacation happen. Their home is in a wonderful safe and quiet location. We loved having use of not one, but two outdoor showers, and a lovely back and side patio to enjoy meals outside. There is plenty of common space, use of the grill, and all of the kitchen equipment made meal prep so easy. Also, the generously-sized bedrooms allowed for everyone to get a great night’s sleep after a full day at the beach - this was important! We highly recommend a stay at this lovely Edgartown home!

Great house in a cute neighborhood

My family (7 adults and 4 kids) spent a week here and loved it. The house is comfortable, clean, and in a great location. The neighborhood is quiet and the streets don't get much traffic, so it was great for running, walking, and biking with the kiddos. The back porch area is a little oasis, we spent a lot of time back there! The basement is also a great addition with ping-pong and lots of games for the kids to entertain themselves. John was very helpful and responsive to our requests. Would definitely recommend!

Awesome stay in Edgartown!

My friends and I stayed here this past weekend for my Bachelorette and it was perfect! Not only did the house accommodate 10 people, but it was also the perfect set up for a weekend on the Vineyard. We spent a lot of time outside on the deck and it was such a great spot to hang out! The owners were super helpful and sweet and I cannot wait to stay here again!

Great clean well located house with all the necessities

This was my first time at this property. Upon arrival the house was immaculate. It has everything, towels, linens, beach chairs, umbrellas, badminton set etc. I brought with me my college age sons and some of their friends as well as other neighbors from home. I also had a car and bicycles. We all had a great time, biking to the near by Morning Glory Farms, going to State Beach by car or bike and visiting Oak Bluffs, Edgartown, Vineyard Haven. We had only one day of rain but the basement was stocked with board games and a ping pong table which kept us entertained. The back yard patio with grill was great for dinners. Love it so much I plan to return again next year.

Great house on MV!

We rented this house last week for a girls trip. We had a great time and the house was perfect. It was stocked with everything you can think of, from towels to beach gear! Great location close to both Edgartown and Oak Bluffs. We didn't rent a car, but rented bikes instead. It worked out great because we rode our bikes during the day and then used Stagecoach Taxis at night. Each time we needed a ride, they would send a 15 passenger van and it worked out to be about $5-$7 per person each way. Not too bad, and cheaper than a car rental! Can't wait for our next trip!

Absolute Gem!

If you are looking for a clean, fully equipped, nicely decorated and great location on Martha’s Vineyard this is the place to rent. My family and I rented this home for the first time in July 2010 and we will be returning for our third stay this summer. The owners are organized and easy to do business with and their property is one of the nicest home’s we’ve rented in the 18 summers we’ve vacationed on the island. There are essentially two master bedrooms each with a king size bed so the property is great for two families of four if you are looking to vacation with friends. The house is located in a quiet development that’s a short ride to Edgartown and South Beach, close to Morning Glory Farm, and has easy access to the main road through the center of the island if you are heading to Oak Bluff, Vineyard Haven or Gay Head. The house sits on a wooded lot and has a wonderful wrap-around deck for outdoor dining and relaxing, and if you’re into tennis there’s a court in the woods behind the house. The owners have thought of everything to make your visit enjoyable (including a bike rack!) and I’m confident you will enjoy your stay as much as my family and I do.

A pearl of a place!

This immaculate house was perfect for us and our family. Quiet, private location with a great deck for outside meals. The game room in the basement was full of fantastic alternative activities for rainy days. It is just a short distance to Edgartown by the bike paths. Morning Glory Farm at the end of the street added some convenience as well. All of the amenities were new and pristine. We DEFINITELY will be back next year.
