Once inside this traditional log cabin, you'll find modern conveniences with rustic charm. A tall stone fireplace is set within the middle of the living room, towering along the wooden stairs to the second floor. The living room/reading area both enjoy views of the fireplace. The house boasts an open, cozy floor plan. The kitchen/eating area opens out to the natural deck overlooking the hillside/river & distant views of mountain tops. Bathroom hosts updated washer/dryer facilities & is located on the first floor. The second floor features 3 bedrooms. Open the sliding barn doors at the top of the stairs into the romantic master bedroom, with antique factory glass windows overlooking the downstairs & fireplace. A big, luxurious bed offers views through the door onto a balcony overlooking the yard/distant mountains. There is nothing quite like a Vermont starry night sky viewed from your bedroom balcony! A large walk-in closet is found at the top of the stairs - additional linens & blankets are found here, as well as plenty of storage space for luggage & hanging clothing. The other cozy bedrooms are located on the other side of the hall, one featuring raw- edge wooden headboard & antique dresser for storage, and the other, with log-cabin siding, rocking chair & closet.

A little bit about Matt & I, and how Circe & Hare Lodge came to be~ 21 years ago I started an organic gardening business & have a background in art. I have a keen eye for creating beauty, inside & out! I’m wholeheartedly devoted to doing right by the environment, starting with our local ecology. In addition to having my hands in the dirt everyday, I consult with homeowners & am actively doing speaking engagements with groups to promote organic gardening. I am currently writing a gardening column for a newspaper to spread awareness for eco-friendly landscape practices. I love gardening, dancing, being physically active & hanging out with our dog, Ted. I installed the gardens at the cabin, but I'm just getting started there! I plant in a naturalistic style, which I call wildscaping. Matt is a musical instrument-maker whose work is highly sought after worldwide. In addition, he's co-owner of a business that specializes in accessories for drum sets. He maintains a client list of the who’s who in music and loves his work in the music industry. He also has a deep appreciation for architecture, furniture & design - all of which he poured into our cabin!

Why they chose this property

Circe and the Hare- We hung one of our favorite paintings on the wall “Empire of Mind”, painted by a good friend & amazing artist. This woman with antlers, sitting in a snowy landscape, reminds us of the mythological goddess “Circe”. Standing back she looked so magical and right for the space, as if it were hers & she was there to watch over it. We couldn’t resist naming the place after her! Now, for the Hare. We're in love with the snowshoe hares of Vermont (and all wildlife, really). Snowshoeing in the mountains around the cabin our first winter, we found endless snowshoe hare tracks, but with the snow-white coats they grow for winter, they remained elusive to us. We never spotted one until one day in spring, after all the snow melted, a very curious snowshoe hare appeared on the back deck peering into the glass door at us! Since then he visits often - after all the times we came downstairs for our morning coffee and were greeted by him, we knew we had to dedicate the cabin to this little trickster as well. As for the cabin, Matt and I spent over a year and a half renovating entirely ourselves. It was a true labor of love, we set out to make it artistically and uniquely ours and never thought of it as a rental. It’s our home away from home & we love sharing it with people who appreciate the same things in life. We want our guests to be comfortable ~ as if it’s their home away from home. Greensboro, Vermont is a very special place, & if you find yourself here you’ll probably notice that there is something more about it than just being scenic and beautiful. Chances are you won’t be able to put your finger on exactly what makes it so wonderful, but you'll know that everything just feels right!
