Absolutely perfect relaxing lakefront house in every way! The bed was very comfortable, the relaxation areas were great, the fan really helped cool things off and the windows brought in just enough cool mountain air and the sound of the loons! The kitchen was also ideal. The location was spectacular, the views and the sunsets were not to be missed and an easy 10 minute drive into town with a good selection of restaurants and markets. This place in the summer is incredible but we are just as excited to take a look at this place in the Fall as well! These were the most incredible hosts we have ever dealt with, so accommodating, and so nice And they truly make this experience one of a kind! Run don’t walk to this unforgettable lakeside getaway!!!

Perfect Cabin in Perfect Spot

This cabin was just right for our family getaway! The location could not be better: right on beautiful Daniels Pond. Kristi met us on the first day to make sure we were all settled in. She and Ed were wonderful hosts, giving us insider tips to the area. The cabin was well-stocked and comfortable with everything we needed.

Daniels

We enjoyed our stay by peaceful and beautiful Daniel's Pond. The cottage is just as described, comfortable and perfect for relaxation by the water. The hammock is a must for reading or a nap. We only left for occasional store run or for Parker's Pie (also 5 stars). Our hosts were welcoming and attentive. We'd love to return someday!

Fall for Vermont

The cottage is lovely and the hosts are even lovelier! They provided lots of reading material about the vicinity, and they are personally well-versed in things to do in the area. The kitchen and bath are well-equipped; there are many seating areas inside and outside on the nicely groomed yard. The location on the pond is perfect. We hope to make visiting "Getaway Cottage" a part of our regular travel schedule!

Relaxation guaranteed

My wife, two teenage daughters and myself had a great time at Daniel’s Pond. The pond was quiet with plenty of wildlife and the most beautiful sunsets. The property owners were wonderful and very accessible. They went out of there way to ensure our comfort and provided us with a number of ideas for things to do in the Northeast Kingdom. The house was extremely clean and comfortable.

Labor Day Weekend

This delightful cottage on Daniel’s Pond is fresh, clean and comfortable – and magical! On one of our canoe paddles, we sat for several minutes watching a great blue heron waiting for its lunch. The sunset reflected from the pond with magnificent pink and red radiance. Our hosts Kristi and Ed were beyond welcoming.

Vermont Tranquility at its Best!

A lovely cottage on an idyllic pond, so peaceful, featuring loon calls, misty mornings and gorgeous sunsets. Rolling hills in every direction, with cornfields and mountain views. Easy to get to other northern Vermont attractions such as Stowe. Kristi is a terrific host, the house was super clean. We enjoyed the use of the canoe and rowboat, a really fun way to explore the pond,

Daniels Pond

We were greatly pleased by this camp, owned by Kristi and Ed Bride. Beautifully located on the shore of Daniels Pond, it is very complete in every respect, including drinkable well water, heat, full views of the pond, quiet (side road), fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, Dish TV, washer and dryer, first floor master bedroom, lakeside dock, privacy from adjacent properties, etc. Access to the loft (3 beds) is by spiral staircase, and can be a bit daunting for seniors. All in all, a most delightful camp.

Vermont: my new happy place

This was the most magical stay I could've hoped for. It was our first time visiting Vermont and I'm pretty sure we're spoiled now. Warm and welcoming, the property and owners were absolutely wonderful. The house actually felt like a home, as it should, so we were able to completely relax. Who knew foliage and northern lights peak at the same time. We had the pleasure of witnessing both over the pond. It was so easy to unwind and unplug, but the wifi was so strong I could also reconnect whenever I needed to get a little work done. This is the perfect place to truly get away and officially my new happy place.

Unwind and recharge

This property was perfect for our adult family. We were looking for a place in which we could exercise and spent time together. This efficient, comfortable cottage is located on back dirt roads that we spent time exploring on our bikes and on foot. The minimal car traffic and beautiful surrounding nature was a daily treat. Swimming, canoeing, and resting in the hammock at sunset while the loons swam— perfect, private and quiet with no loud motor boats to distract from the peaceful property. The cottage has comfortable beds and has everything you could need to cook meals together, unwind and enjoy your vacation. Hosts Kristi and Ed are engaged in your stay take a genuine role in making sure you are comfortable. This property gets a strong thumbs up from all of us (5 adults.)

Slice of Heaven

Wonderful week at the Getaway Cottage. Kristi and Ed were incredibly responsive and generous hosts who anticipated our every need. We were greeted with a bottle of wine and sent off with chocolate covered strawberries. The house is immaculate, very comfortable, and well stocked with everything we needed-even with toothbrushes-in case we forgot our own. The back of the house opens onto a grassy lawn, fronted by Daniel’s Pond, a private dock, and a canoe and rowboat for the guests’ use. Though close to other houses the hedges make it completely private. The cherry on top is the hammock under a canopy of leaves overlooking the water. Lying on the hammock, reading a book, and watching the sunset was truly a slice of heaven. It was a wonderful restorative time in the gorgeous Northeast Kingdom of Vt. and we look forward to returning.

Weekend at Getaway home!!

A house is built with bricks and wood but a home is built with love!! Such was the atmosphere we got during our stay. Kristie and Ed were excellent and loving host. We were welcomed with a gift basket and Kristiade sure before and during our stay we were well taken care off. They had the house toasty warm so my in laws from India would t feel cold. They checken on us the next day to make sure we slept alright. Good tips on the scenic spots and restaurants to try while we stayed. Best of all was they were for us, if in case we need them. Very prompt . The property was very clean, warm, and had all the amenities a family would need. Beautiful location right on the lake and the sunset was something. Lounging in the backyard and enjoying the sunset was a memorable experience for us. It was a great weekend made very memorable by Krists and Ed’s hospitality!! We look forward to visiting sometime in the future!!

Indeed perfect getaway

EXACTLY as pictured. I felt like I had already been there when we walked in! Everything was so clean and thoughtfully organized. All cooking and household items were organized and abundant. Kristi greeted us with welcome items and a treat the night before our departure. A wonderful touch. There was a detailed “how to” book for the house and local highlights. We only had a few questions which were answered very promptly via text. WiFi and all systems worked. Too cold/wet for swimming but we did take a long walk from map provided (19,000 steps woo!) Other highlight was loon serenade and on a late-night visit to the dock we disturbed a beaver at work (we heard plunge into lake and saw his beaver “Home Depot” materials the next morning). There is one BR on 1st floor but only caution is that you need to be somewhat nimble for the circular staircase to the loft. It’s beautiful snd roomy upstairs w It’s own picture window of the lake! Highly recommended from site to hospitality!

Welcoming place in a sweet location

Kristi and Ed are very attentive hosts who were communicative throughout the booking process and stay. When we arrived, they introduced us to their property which included a welcome gift basket of foods and chilled wine in the refrigerator for us. Kristi and Ed were more than gracious and willing to aid us in any way to make our stay more comfortable. The cottage was very clean and neat. The cottage’s kitchen was as well stocked as many home kitchens with dishes, basic spices, cooking utensils, toaster, coffee pot, tea kettle, microwave, pots, and pans, etc. The beds were comfortable. The shower curtain looked new and fresh. We appreciated the thoughtful toiletries in the bathroom for guests. During our stay we squeezed in watching the Women’s Final Four game which looked great on their large television, and had time for a board game that their table easily accommodated. The highlight of our time in Vermont was leaving the cottage for a time to meet up with friends who had also traveled to Vermont to watch the eclipse. The Moon and Sun did not disappoint! What an absolute treat! But, back to the cottage… If you are looking for a clean cottage, with attentive hosts, on a quiet pond, on a dirt road with other cottages nearby, where there is a good pizza place (Parker’s Pie) within a drivable distance, then this could definitely be your spot. Thank you to Kristi and Ed for your hospitality and for sharing your little slice of Vermont with us. We are appreciative.

Nice Country Vacation

Overall, our experience at the "Getaway Cottage" was very relaxing and enjoyable. The cottage is located on a beautiful and peaceful pond with no motor boat traffic whatsoever (a rare find in Vermont). The lakefront is well appointed with Adirondack chairs and a hammock and one can spend many happy hours here reading, resting and watching the sun set. The cottage is located in the middle of miles of picturesque country and near many interesting and friendly small towns with everything you need. Its hard to beat that combination if you want a relaxing yet stimulating getaway. The size and depth of Daniels Pond makes it well suited to a refreshing dip, which is all that most people may want. Deeper and longer swims can be had right down the road at Shadow Lake or at the clear, exceptionally weed-free Crystal Lake in nearby Barton. Extras outside include the canoe and rowboat. There's also a large propane grill, though it will require a good cleaning before use. The interior of the cozy, shady cottage is both charmingly rustic and exceptionally clean. All beds are comfortable, as are the sofa and two reclining arm chairs in the living room. Basic seating on the porch is good for a brief recline and view of the pond, before heading outside for a longer session in the comfortable waterfront chairs or hammock. The hosts provided many personal touches to enhance the visit. Kristi was always friendly and available for questions or help if needed. Thank you Kristi and Ed!

People with Jeep and motorcyles.

The cottage was quaint pond frontage place with a great view of Daniel's Pond. It is a nice quiet neighborhood with very friendly people. The cottage was well stocked with all cooking and baking utensils, pleasant and comfortable furnishings. The owners K&E went out of thier way to accommodate our party with overflow parking at thier house. We were welcomed into thier cottage with a basket of goodies, a bottle of wine and they capped off our stay with going away thank you dessert. They checked on us via personal visits and/or text message to be sure we had everything we needed and to see if there were any issues with the cottage. I would not hesitate to rent this cottage again from K&E.

Perfect spot for relaxation

This lakeside cottage in the mountains of northwest Vermont is great for a relaxing escape. Located on Daniels Pond, a small picturesque lake, there is a rowboat and canoe for enjoying the water, or you can take in the view from the dock, in the beautiful back yard with a hammock, or from inside on the porch. Sunsets are spectacular. The cottage is well-appointed and comfortable, and the hosts truly go above and beyond to take care of everything for your stay. A piece of heaven

Daniel's Pond and the Getaway Cottage are wonderful. So peaceful and relaxing. Kristi and Ed are outstanding hosts and equipped the cottage with everything we could need and then some. Vermont is truly another world of green mountains, rolling hills and magnificent lakes and ponds. One week was not enough time to do the things Kristi and Ed suggested in their welcome book. Great reason to return!

About the host

Hosted by Kristi & Ed Bride, Owners

Host profile image
The owners, Kristi & Ed are from VT. We have been married for over 35 years and love this calm retreat that is our 'secret' on Daniels Pond. We grew up an hour away from Glover, near Montpelier, the capital city. Kristi has been visiting the pond with her family since she was a very little girl. We like to shop at Curriers Country Store, The Wiley's Store, Pete's Greens Farm Stand, and Burtt's Apple Orchard. You might pass us on the Mt. Pisgah hiking trail, bid against us at an Albany auction, or catch us floating the sunny afternoon away on the pond. We have fun by chasing a golf ball down a local golf course, standing in line for ice cream at Pick & Shovel, and eating a Strawberry Shortcake at the Irasburg Church Fair. One of our summer favorites (July) is a day trip to Magog, Quebec (Canada-so bring your passport) where wineries, spas, and Bleu Lavande (Lavender Farm) are located. We love exploring the towns of the Northeast Kingdom (& Eastern Townships of Quebec) and all they have to offer. We love winter too, Skiing at Jay Peak, Burke Mountain, Craftsbury Outdoor Center, and show-shoeing around the pond on a snowy day followed by a glass of wine in front of the fire!

Why they chose this property

We love the beautiful and unspoiled location, the quiet sounds of the Pond and close proximity to mountains and small towns. From May to October we like to shop for vegetables, eggs and more at farm stands on the side of the road and the many local Farmers Markets. Visit country stores, small family-owned shops, county fairs, festivals & church suppers. Make time to check out the Bread & Puppet Theater Museum, Circus Smirkus, Craftsbury Chamber Players as well as the many artists that reside in the area. This is where you get outside to enjoy hiking, biking, fishing and boating on some of the most beautiful land & water anywhere. In the fall, the leaves change color and the foliage is legendary - you have to see it to believe it! From December through April, skiing/riding Jay Peak, Burke Mountain, Stowe and Craftsbury Outdoor Center. And snowshoeing, ice skating and snowmobiling are available throughout the area. Jay Peak also has a huge, amazing indoor water park that is open year-round! Each spring brings the 'Maple Sugar Season' where VT Maple Syrup 'Liquid Gold' is bottled for all to enjoy on pancakes, ice cream & more!

What makes this property unique

Daniels Pond is so beautiful and this cottage was hand built in the 1980's by Kristi's Dad. He cut down the cedar trees on the lot and used them to build the cottage-all the wood you see inside, he put up by hand! As you can see, it is waterfront and has a small sandy beachfront on the edge of the pond, perfect for wading in the water slowly or sitting on the dock and kicking your feet. In the winter, it's perfect for Snowshoeing, Ice Fishing and Cross Country Skiing on the pond. This is a magical place to relax, reconnect with nature (and each other) and get away from it all. Don't you deserve A Getaway on Daniels Pond?
