Walk or Ride to Sugar Mountain Ski Lodge: You can WALK downhill 700 yards to Sugar Mountain Ski Lodge in just 5 minutes (½ downhill, ½ flat with just a 200 foot elevation change). The return walk is ½ uphill and takes a little longer. Tubing and ice skating are located near the ski lodge. Since it is best to walk back in hiking or snow boots, you can use our Members Ski Locker in the Ski Lodge to store your skis and boots overnight. Or you can RIDE the complimentary ski shuttle in winter from the bus stop that is only 700 feet from our house. After skiing, plan on viewing Grandfather Mountain (and leaf changes in Fall) from the front deck while sitting around the firepit. If there is new snow, you can watch your children sled on the hill in front of the house. To arrive, drive just past the Ski Lodge, turn right at Glenwood Lane, which becomes Ridgeview Road. We are located near the end of extremely quiet Ridgeview Road on a ½ acre lot with loads of privacy and a great view. The driveway can be icy in winter, so please bring tire chains if there has been new snow. House Details: Our comfortable single-level house has three large bedrooms, two bathrooms and no stairs or steps. Seven people can sleep comfortably in beds (no one must use a sofa bed!). The entire house has been professionally decorated without any of our personal do-dads. This house will feel like your home away from home, not our home that you are just visiting. The living area has a large, vaulted ceiling living room with a remote-controlled gas log fireplace, a new comfortable reclining sectional sofa, 42” TV, free Wifi, and is cooled by a ceiling fan. The game table is stocked with picture puzzles and board games. There is a separate foyer and dining room with an eight-person dining table. The modern kitchen is fully stocked with all the amenities: dishwasher, refrigerator, range/oven, microwave oven, coffee pot, toaster, crockpot, plus new dishware, silverware, utensils, and pots and pans. All appliances are stainless steel and were replaced in the summer of 2023. There is also a separate breakfast area with a four-person breakfast table and chairs.
To keep you warm, there is a new central heating system. After skiing, you can relax outdoors on the large, covered deck with four comfortable chairs, a firepit table and a great view of Grandfather Mountain. It’s a great place to sit while cooking at the barbecue. Or you can retreat to a second covered deck with a table and four chairs for alfresco dining. There is an attached two-car garage to keep your car snow-free plus there is plenty of outside parking. The laundry room has a washer and dryer to give you dry clothes for the next day on the slopes. The floor plan gives everyone plenty of privacy at night because the bedrooms are not all bunched together. The spacious King suite has a new king-size bed with a new plush mattress, a vaulted ceiling, a large walk- in closet, and a wall-mounted TV. The oversized bathroom has a Jacuzzi jetted tub, a separate shower, a large lavatory counter and a hidden toilet. This bedroom is separated from the Queen bedroom by the kitchen for privacy. The Queen bedroom has a new queen-size bed with a new plush mattress, a smaller walk-in closet, and direct access to the second bathroom. This normal-sized bathroom has a tub/shower, single lavatory, and toilet. This bedroom is separated from the Bunk bedroom by the second bathroom for privacy. The Bunk bedroom has a new Spruce bunk/trundle bed with three new mattresses, a smaller walk-in closet, and a small antique wood desk and chair that can be used for computer work. We want you to have a pleasant visit We provide free WIFI and a wireless printer in the living room (but you should bring paper). Children are always welcome, so bring them and build family memories.
