About this property

The Wild Creek Lodge

Colorado custom log home situated on 20 isolated acres on the edge of the Rocky Mountain National Park and the North St. Vrain Creek.

With Mount Meeker towering overhead there is convenient access to trails leading up to waterfalls, high mountain lakes and fields of wildflowers. Hiking downstream one can fish for wild native trout through a protected 10 mile canyon. Otherwise sit beside the roaring creek and read, write or paint amongst the deer, elk, ouzel and fluttering aspen.

Walk back through the woods to the lodge and join the folks who never left the cozy Tulakivi fireplace surrounded by ancient Ingelman Spruce and vaulted ceiling gazing out onto the forest and fourteen thousand foot Mt. Meeker. Enjoy barbeque on the sun-bathed deck or quietly around the candlelit table while the kids rampage downstairs on the bunks, play ping-pong, watch movies, play in the tipi, play basketball, toss horseshoes or jump on the trampoline.

Fall asleep to the sound of tumbling waters and a canopy of stars.

Awaken to the pink hues of dawn cascading down the sleeping Mountain.

After several days of wilderness experience, drive 20 minutes into the resort town of Estes Park and enjoy the full fare of entertainment. Drive further over the highest continuous road in the country which traverses the Continental Divide and drops down into the Colorado River basin and Grand Lake. Enjoy all that the Rockies have to offer on the Colorado River and National Park trails. Return home to our lodge in Wild Basin by way of Mary's Lake, Baldpate Inn, Eagle Plume's Cabin and St. Malo's Chapel on the Rock. Settle back into this cozy log hideaway and enjoy the perfect Rocky Mountain holiday you'll want to relive.

Excellent family getaway

What a beautiful cabin and property! This was the perfect place for our family vacation. It is close enough to Estes Park to enjoy all the amenities and far enough away to provide peace and quiet. It provided plenty of space for our large family. I would definitely stay here again.

Great place, Great location

Good place to stay away from the crowds Estes Park yet close to the Beaver Creek entrance. Plenty of room to move about and have family togetherness. Creek in the backyard was very nice to listen to at night.

Perfect Location to visit RMNP and surrounding area

This was an extended family get together in the RMNP area. None of us had visited this area before, but several have been in other areas of the Colorado Rockies. The stay was absolutely perfect as was the Vrbo home. We will never forget our visit and the great time had by all.

Loved, Loved, Loved It

It was gorgeous, scenic, spacious, quiet, relaxing, well-equipped, perfect for us and our son. I especially loved eating meals on the patio with the river sounds in the background. Thank you Jon for all your hospitality. We can’t wait to return with the other 4 of our family on our next annual vacay. We loved, loved, LOVED it.

“A LITTLE PIECE Of HEAVEN”

We’d never been to Colorado so we had to rely on reviews written from previous guests in helping us decide where to vacation. I read review after review and never heard anyone say anything short of amazing! So we took a leap of faith and ventured out to see this quaint little cabin and it’s wonderful owners! Our stay was so spectacular! We’re from the big city of Dallas so everything this place had to offer was like a “little piece of heaven”! The amazingly crisp fresh air and the peacefulness were bonuses attached to all the thoughtfulness that went into the entire stay while we were at Jonathan and Maggie’s Cabin! You just don’t get this kind of wonderful experience living in a big city. So yes we had a fabulous vacation and thank you Jonathan and Maggie for EVERYTHING and we will see you again real soon!! P.S. didn’t go into the fine details about the cabin itself like so many others did so we encourage you to read every review because there’s sooo much more to learn about this great place!

Secluded, Quiet and Relaxing

Stayed 12 wonderful days, home has everything to make you feel at home, was well kept and had land to explore. The stream behind the house was calming to hear and watch. Looking forward to coming back! Thanks Jonathan!

Alone Together in Beautiful Colorado Cabin

My husband and I booked Wild Creek Lodge as a place to meet up with our daughters and their partners. It's an impressive cabin in a beautiful location that gave us lots of space to be together and plenty of room to spread out for time to ourselves. We especially loved the well-equipped kitchen and the over sized dining room table. We enjoyed cooking and dining together in that space that left plenty of room to play games in the evening.. The legacy stereo system managed to fill the cabin with beautiful, rich sound without drowning us out. When we weren't listening to the stereo, we enjoyed the soothing sounds of the beautiful St. Vrain rushing just outside our windows. The location offered the perfect balance between feeling remote, yet still within an easy drive to the shops and restaurants in Estes Park. Overall, it was exactly the space we needed to have a taste of everything, and we look forward to returning again.

Wonderful home, wonderful location, wonderful hosts!

If you are coming to enjoy Rocky Mountain National Park, i can’t imagine you could do better than this. The home is lovely and is well equipped. Six of us stayed for 6 nights eating almost every meal in. The kitchen is very well equipped, the living spaces are comfortable and inviting, but the outdoor spaces are the prize! The roar of the creek made for the most wonderful sleep. The kids enjoyed the basketball hoop and ping pong. You are less than a mile from the Wild Basin entry to RMNP and 30 minutes from the main entrance and Estes Park.

Awesome place! Close to RMNP.

We had a great time here! The lodge is amazing. The creek was relaxing and the kids loved the ping pong table. The lodge is well maintained and well stocked. The lodge is close to RMNP and Estes Park. After exploring the park all day it was great to come back to the lodge and relax on the deck and listen to the river. The lodge was perfect and we can’t wait to go back! Thank you for letting us stay!

Perfect Family Vacation

Wild Creek Lodge was the best!!! Three generations gathered for a wonderful week relaxing at the cabin, exploring Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park and the surrounding area. The lodge far exceeded our expectations. The property, the views, the stream are amazing. The lodge is completely stocked with everything we needed to cook, play and relax. We have rented many vacation homes before and this one is truly exceptional. We hope to be back one day.

Amazing property, peaceful, right next to RMNP!

This property is fantastic! The owners are not only really nice, but they do a great job keeping this home in great condition. The St. Vrain Creek was amazing to watch, the humming birds were really fun to observe, we saw a ton of other fun colorful birds, and a huge mama mule deer on the property. My kids loved the trampoline and the basketball court, and all that is just outside the property. There is everything you could possibly need in the kitchen, the appliances worked great for our needs, and we grilled outdoors every evening. This home is nestled in the mountains and you cannot see or hear any traffic. It's also right across the street from Rocky Mountain National park. We had so much fun hiking and exploring the park during the day and then to be able to relax at night with our family and enjoy this property. We never even thought about going out to a restaurant for dinner. It really is the type of vacation we hoping to have, nothing disappointed us. Thank You!!

Summer Family Vacation

Cabin was in perfect location, about 20 minutes from downtown Estes Park and a private location next to roaring river on plenty of land to explore. Everybody enjoyed being able to hear the river at night to fall asleep to. Kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed for our meals. We loved the sitting area off the kitchen to watch all the humming birds outside the window. Kids loved the ping pong table and movies and games downstairs. Saw deer and foxes while on the property. Owner was great and made a point to make sure he introduced himself. The cabin was perfect and we cannot wait to visit again.

The C Family Reunion

With 27 family members, four generations, and three States--Virginia, Illinois, and Iowa--represented, the Crocker Family Reunion of 2014 in Allenspark, CO, was nothing short of incredible. Staying at both the Wild Creek Lodge and the Copeland Institute, the location, activities, vistas, and accommodations exceeded our expectations and delighted us in every way. Specific to Wild Creek Lodge: the ever present hummingbirds captivated our attention; the bedding was quite comfortable; the dining and family room and kitchen were perfect for the morning starts, conversation and late-night merriment; we loved sleeping and waking up to the sound of the raging creek; and the backwoods location was ideal for identifying with the Colorado wilderness, yet close enough to RMNP, Estes Park, Boulder, and Denver for all to enjoy. Thank you for greeting us upon our arrival, as well as being close at hand if needed. Staying at your home was indeed a splendid time and a wonderful experience! Warmly, The Cs

Summer vacation in Colorado

This is a fabulous property. The isolated privacy alongside the crashing water of the mountain creek make a perfect place to relax and just enjoy the outdoors. The cabin has plenty of room for family (3 kingsize beds and 4 bunkbeds) with extra space in a large downstairs family room if needed. The dining area was great for all 9 of my family to enjoy meals together. The location is convenient for RMNP and doing touristy things in Estes Park. My family enjoyed every minute.

A Dream.

We spent Christmas week at this wonderful home and loved every moment! The Wards put up a Christmas tree for us to decorate and even provided Christmas plates. We played lots of games, walked down the the creek, hiked, baked Christmas cookies, talked and laughed. It was everything we hoped it would be. If you stay here you will not be dissappointed!

What a wonderful vacation for our family!

Our group included my husband and I, our four children and their spouses, fiancee, and boyfriend and our granddaughter, 18 months. We celebrated our wedding anniversary here and had a lovely time with our family. No TV, no cell phones . . . we did puzzles, played games and hiked in the national park. We made great meals in the wonderful kitchen which had everything we needed. One morning we had a visit of a moose family which circled the cabin - so exciting. It was great to have a playpen, high chair, and backpack for our granddaughter. We had no idea what to expect as we have never done anything like this before . . . it was perfect to unwind and have quality family time. The listing on vrbo.com was completely accurate - the photos shown online portrayed the warmth we felt while we were there. It was clean - and the owner was helpful as was the person who let us in and showed us around upon our arrival. Definitely we would recommend this to people. We were a little nervous that Rocky Mountain National Park wouldn't be opened during the shutdown but thanks to the State of Colorado, we were able to get in and do some hiking. Before our family arrived, my husband and I checked out the little restaurant in Allenspark - awesome breakfast. Our children were equally impressed with the place.

Beyond excellent!

There are not enough words to describe this wonderful cabin. We had 3 generations, including a 2 month old. Our 2 1/2 yr old grand daughter loved everything from the teepee, trampoline to the creek. We had unusually warm days, but always a nice breeze. Them view is fantastic, sitting on the main patio (or laying in the hammock) is so relaxing. The kitchen is wonderful to cook in, all the rooms are extremely comfortable. Our kids had a great time with the basketball hoop, we have a great picture of our son making a shot with his son in the baby Bjorne, truly great memories. The owners are wonderful to work with, you can't ask for better hosts. We will definitely be back!

Amazing week!

Our family enjoyed a week-long reunion at Wild Creek Lodge - a week that went by way too quickly! The house is an absolute treasure - so warm and inviting and yet 10 people barely seem to make a dent on the space. The view of Mt. Meeker, the rushing creek and the stars at night make you feel like you are in paradise. The location is also wonderfully secluded - it is such an escape from every day busyness. We all enjoyed the hiking possibilities; there is something for everyone. Then, after an amazing hike, coming back to relax at the house was just our idea of a perfect day. We thought about going out to dinner a couple of nights but we all decided we didn't want to leave the house. We will definitely look to come back - the sooner the better.

Everything you'd want in a mountain cabin

Our week at Wild Creek Lodge was exactly as we'd hoped. The lodge is comfortable, clean, well appointed, quiet, and very convenient. It's close to great hiking trails in Rocky Mountain NP and is less than 20 minutes from downtown Estes Park. The lodge gives you great views of Mt. Meeker from large living room and master BR windows, from the large (entry) deck, and from the master BR deck. We assume there are good restauants nearby, but we cooked every meal in the wonderfully well equipped kithcen. We enjoyed a memorable family vacation and the hospitality and care of Jonathan, the owner. We enthusiastically recommend Wild Creek Lodge.

Veteran Colorado Visitor Highly Recommends

I now understand why all the previous reviews gave this property a five star rating. I have been a visitor to Colorado for most of my 60+ years, and without a doubt, this is the best place in which I've stayed. The property is appealing to the senses - the visual elegance of the lodge, the sweet smell of the surrounding pines, the soothing sounds of the rapids on the North Saint Vrain flowing through the property. Although this property has a Highway 7 address, the highway can't be seen from the property, and the distance from it and the local topography prevent any highway noise from reaching the lodge. You are left with a feeling of remoteness, yet you have all the amenities needed for comfortable living and are only a short drive from civilization. One of the many things I like about the lodge is that there are three distinct living areas in which groups or individuals can congregate apart from others in their party, and in nice weather the three outdoor decks attached to the main level provide additional opportunities. You do not have to retreat to your bedroom to enjoy some private time. When you meet the owner (he always greets his guests personally), you will understand why he chose this location to build his wonderful lodge. (Ask him about his scramble up and down Mount Meeker.) Whether you are a veteran visitor like me who loves all there is about the mountains of Colorado, or if you are a first timer looking for a place that offers the best experience, Wild Creek Lodge is for you. You will return. And so will I.

What a wonderful time we had at Wild Creek Lodge. Everything was lovely and very accommodating for our vacation including the items necessary for little ones. We had everything we needed and every time we thought of something, low and behold, it was located in the cabin. Everyone enjoyed the activites at the cabin including the trampoline, basketball, river and teepee. The location is perfect with Rocky Mountain National Park right across the street and Estes Park down the road. We hope to visit the area again and we definitely hope to stay at the Wild Creek Lodge.

Stunning Views, Awesome Vacation Home, Gracious Host

We visited Wild Creek Lodge the week of August 6th and the home was clean and in excellent condition. The Owner was a gracious host and spent time answering our questions and offering insights into the area. The lodge is located within a few miles of some of the best trails in Rocky Mountain National Park. Conveniently located 20 minutes from Estes Park, we were able to hit just about every attraction in the area with ease of travel. We had 10 people in our group and it was ideal for a large group with kids - trampoline, basketball court, games and plenty of amenities to keep everyone moving while we plotted our next hike. The great room had stunning views of Mt. Meeker adjacent to Longs Peak. The Big Thompson River rushed below the house on trails within the property itself. Plenty of room to move around in the home but the layout promoted everyone spending time together - awesome for dinner time prep and dining. The Owner was flexible with our changing travel schedule and sincerely wanted everyone to enjoy their time in the Rockies. This would be the first place we would look if we return to the Park anytime soon.
