Great property with difficult stairs

The space and location were perfect. There is no bathroom on the first floor which makes for a lot of up and down. The room that has bunkbeads pictured doesn’t really have bunk beads, and the main bedroom has a lift with a mattress. The 5 of us fit comfortably, six would have been tight, and there’s not much privacy. Patio is great for warm evenings after happy hour!

I am a mother of 3 young girls and help co-manage properties with my husband. My husband and I loved to travel before kids and we still enjoy meeting and talking with people from all over the world.
My husband grew up in Philly and knows a lot about the city and history. In our spare time we take our girls to parks, "down to the shore," and the zoo & local museums geared towards youngsters as well as get together with friends and family. I particularly enjoy cooking for family and friends in my home.
As our girls become older we hope to resume traveling and exploring this big wide world!

Why they chose this property

My husband bought this property back in the1990's when this area was considered the "red light' district still. Over the years we have renovated this property and rented it out long term to mostly college students. Due to "renaissance" of Philadelphia in more recent years we outfitted and updated this property to be a fun and comfortable home to travellers with families and groups of friends who want to experience Philly like a native, the best way to experience a city!

What makes this property unique

This is a typical historical house that was built in the 1850's. Each room is built one on top of another. My husband added the loft bedroom to the 3rd floor as well an additional bathroom. The stairs can be steep for some people! The original fireplace works. Recently we added central air for those visiting during our hot and humid summers. I have outfitted this house keeping in mind what families with children might need: full set of dishes and cookware, some cooking essentials, a shopping cart which can be used for treks 3 blocks east to Whole Foods and Acme, safety gates for the stairs, a high chair and pack and play and baby toiletries.
