Absolutely Perfect!
Chris was an amazing host and provided an unbelievably perfect space for my family and I! The view from that deck was soul soothing. The house is perfect for a family of four, so each person had their own space. It felt so open with the high ceilings and windows. Gorgeous! The house is the perfect temperature in the day after opening the windows in the evening. This house is a scientific miracle in that way! The king size bed was so comfortable. We will definitely visit again, and this will be our home away from home. Thank you Chris (and Nellie 😉) for providing such hospitality and respite.

Restful retreat at the Modern Hideaway.
Our family of 5 enjoyed a restful week at this quiet property. We loved the large kitchen, open concept living, spacious primary bedroom and most of all the large covered patio. The owner was nearby, responsive, and helpful. We really enjoyed relaxing on the patio and walking along the river. This was a great home base location for a variety of activities in the Four Corners area.

Excellent home!
We have stayed at many Vrbo and Air B&B homes and this one is our favorite. Very clean and comfortable. The setup is perfect for two families and the kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals. The couch is very comfortable, as well as the rocking chair in the living room. We walked down the River a few times and enjoyed that as well. We can’t wait to visit again.

In the mountains
Great location on the side of a mountain. If you want a remote spot near the San Juan Mountains, this is it. House is in perfect condition and offers all modern cooking needs and laundry. We had a really fun time here, exploring Bayfield, Durango and other area locations. Thanks to Chris for all the suggestions and advice.

About the host

My wife and I have lived in the area since the early 70s. We love where we live. I was born and grew up part of my life in Hawaii which I still love to go back to. My profession is as a building contractor. When we are not here enjoying all the things that there are to do in the mountains we are usually off traveling somewhere.

Why they chose this property

I got together with a close friend who is an architect and the two of us drew up plans for a house that would blend in with the surroundings and would fit on the sloped lot. The house offers great views from the living area and the master bedroom. My brother and I (with a bit of other help!) built this house. It is a unique home with what is called a SIPs (structural insulated panels) roofing and wall system, which provides a very quiet and well-insulated home.
