Beautifully restored house with private pool and sea views on the peaceful and unspoilt Lustica Peninsula

Located at the tip of the beautiful Lustica peninsula, Artist's Retreat is a collection of painstakingly restored stone houses with a private pool, set amongst pomegranate and olive trees. This house has just been renovated this year.

Stroll through tiny villages which time forgot, where the main source of income continues to be olive groves and goats. You'll find friendly locals who continue to welcome visitors with homemade prsut (cured and smoked ham) and rakija (a stiff Balkan brandy made from plums). The surroundings might be rural, but the area is also rich in cultural heritage. Kotor Old Town is within easy reach, with its narrow alleyways and squares filled with excellent restaurants outdoor cafes while the pretty fishing village of Rose is only a short drive away.

The rural surroundings also make for tremendous walks and some of Montenegro's best beaches are only a short drive away, including the phenomenal white-pebble Zanjice and Mirista beaches.

The Neighbourhood

Luštica Bay presents the perfect place from which to explore and enjoy this beauty. Nestled in south western Montenegro’s Trašte Bay, adjacent to the village of Radovići, it is part of the Municipality of Tivat and approximately 90 kilometres from capital city, Podgorica.

The area itself enjoys UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Bay of Kotor, which boasts southern Europe’s deepest fjord, an enchanting old town and access to the legendary man-made island, Our Lady of the Rock (pictures 4 and 5). Also easily accessible is the bustling town of Budva, capital city Podgorica and the UNESCO-protected island of Sveti Stefan, whose grand history has seen it host all from the Adriatic’s pirates to Hollywood’s finest, such as Elizabeth Taylor and Sophia Loren. Those after adventure can visit the Balkan Peninsula’s largest lake, Lake Skadar, surrounded by national park, or head inland to Montenegro’s mountainous Kolašin region (3 and 6), and of course the entire Adriatic and Dalmatian islands (1 and 2) await exploration by boat. From Luštica Bay, all of Montenegro becomes your playground – a captivating country, inviting discovery.

Magical
We had a wonderful 3 weeks stay in this magical place. The villa was perfect. Any small issues were dealt with quickly and efficiently. The views are breathtaking. There are plenty of beaches to laze away the day and we did some wonderful day trips to Kotor, Tivat and Perast. Such a happy holiday.

What a wonderful place
The house is really hi class. The view is wonderful, the pool is great, and there are wonderful outdoor areas. Close by (But too far to walk, at least for me) Is 2 nice beaches. The surroundings are very quired, and the scenery are beautiful. The shop at the beach, has the nicest shopkeeper in the world, and sell all the most common things, except fresh meat. To get that you need to drive 30 min away (and 30 minutes back) I can recommend a visit in Kotor, and the drive from Kotor to Mount Lovcen national park. Their gives you a spectacular view over the bay

Amazing views in a beautiful country!
Villa was clean and modern, everything worked well, pool lovely and clean. The best thing was the views a different stunning sunset every night. Tivat airport was about a 40 minute drive because the local roads to the were not very good. Zanjice Beach almost walking distance but because of the elevation down to the beach and the heat much better to walk. The local beach sunbeds and parking v cheap in comparison to the rest of the Med. Recommend you do some boat trips to the Blue Cave and into Kotor Bay to see the little islands. we had a few power cuts but they were short-lived and didn't really affect our holiday - the Local Agent Petar was excellent.

About the host

We think our house was built in the 1990s. When you visit you will understand why they chose the plot of land to build a house, the view! It is called Lastavica Lodge because of the uninterrupted view of Lastavica Island, which accommodates the ruined fort of Mamula.

Why they chose this property

The house is high enough from the seafront to give you amazing panoramic views
Luštica of the Montenegrin coastline and the southern tip of Croatia, but close enough to drive 2 minutes down to the beaches (or a more energetic walk!)

The peninsula is conveniently located between Dubrovnik (90 minutes by car) and Tivat (20 minutes by car). It has 35km of coast, surrounded by the deep blue waters of the Adriatic Sea, and is largely undeveloped. Olive groves and dense pine woods are plentiful although many are uncultivated and overgrown. This area has an

What makes this property unique

We love holidaying in Montenegro all year round because there is such a range of things to do and places to see. Montenegro Tourism refer to the country as Wild Beauty, a true description of the breathtaking country. The World Travel and Tourism council sees Montenegro as becoming one of the top 10 destinations in the world within the next decade.
