Horta da Avozinha (translated into) "Granny`s Garden" - sits in a lovely garden and orchard where you can pluck a fresh lemon straight off the tree for your gin and tonic! This stylish Villa has two double bedrooms, one with an en-suite and a second family bathroom. The living area too is spacious and extremely comfortable. There is also a modern well-equipped kitchen. Against a background of pale-washed walls and light-tiled floors, the accommodation offers good-quality wooden furniture throughout with splashes of color from tasteful fabrics and furnishings. Wide French windows in the large living-room-dining area lead straight onto a covered veranda with steps leading down to the swimming pool It could not possibly be any more convenient; especially if you needed to keep an eye on young children. There are sunbeds too with parasols to lounge on including a dining table and chairs to facilitate true outdoor "al fresco" or "barbeque meals" by the pool where you also have the facility of your very own built-in outdoor oven! Take your pick! This is a true holiday experience you will never forget!

Relaxing

Fab surroundings the grounds are full of oranges, lemons, avocado trees, chickens, geese, tortoise, very family friendly, lovely swimming pool, fresh eggs from our hosts Maria and Jose. 10 minutes drive from the beach and 2 minute drive to the local bars and restaurants. We will be returning to this friendly welcoming villa. Thank you for the time we spent in your wonderful place.

Quiet holiday in splendid estate

We enjoyed our several winter holidays in Portugal a lot, because of the springlike temperatures (at least for central european circumstances), the warming sun, the colourful landscape, and the quietness in this season. At this time you share the great coastline with only few other people. In the "Villa Avozinha", which is very nice, spacious and managed by very friendly owners, who care for their estate very affectionally and which is fully functionally, we found a place, we hopefully can return to often. We therefore can recommend "Villa Avozinha" very much.

Beautiful location and very safe

The property has a large electric gate which made us feel very secure and the children could run around in the garden safely. Unfortunately the pool didn’t heat while we were there so we couldn’t make use of it. Also the hot tub was £40 for 30mins which wasn’t advertised until we got there so couldn’t use that either as it would be too expensive. We had a few power cuts whenever 2 or more electricals were in use but the owner did her best to rectify this. The fresh lemons, oranges, avocados and other fruits were amazing. We felt like we had a small part of paradise.

Totally Relaxed

Had a fabulous time, the most relaxing holiday we've ever had. Everything was just perfect from first getting there with the welcome pack that was really thoughtful and useful. Bread, milk, tea, coffee, margarine, red and white wine. Jose and Teresa were very friendly and polite and made you feel valued. We picked fresh oranges and lemons from the orchard and made juice. We found the villa very clean and tidy, the maids came twice a week Thurs and Sunday. There was also a gardener/pool man who came on Saturday, personally I'd prefer him to come on Sunday (swap over day) as after of couple of hours listening to his power tools it slowly grinds you down. Nothing major but worth a mention. The villa itself is just behind the small village of Espiche, bit far to walk because of the heat but we'll worth a visit at night with its range of restaurants. Bit of a tip if your on the later flight is to Google earth the route straight to the villa. Roads leading to it are dark and narrow.

Nettes Ambiente doch am Haus muss etwas getan werden

Teresa die Gastgeberin ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Die Lage ist super schön , ruhig und abgelegen . Dennoch ist man schnell in der Stadt Lagos , an verschiedenen Stränden etc. Das Haus ist wirklich in die Jahre gekommen und hier muss meines Erachtens nach wirklich was getan werden ( Fenster , Mobiliar , Badezimmer komplett) .

Gewoon top van begin tot einde

De woning is rustig gelegen langs een goed berijdbare zandweg midden avocado plantages en wijngaarden. Kust, winkels en een mooi natuurpark liggen allen op een 10 minuutjes rijden. Teresa de gastvrouw is ontzettend vriendelijk, warm en behulpzaam. Teresa had ook een gul welkomspakket voorzien. Iets zoet, iets hartigs en drank. Je hoeft niet direct naar de winkel te hollen. Wij verbleven in het huisje met 2 slaapkamers en 2 badkamers. Alles is beschikbaar zoals beschreven. Vanop een mooi terras kijk je op een zeer ruim privé zwembad. In het seizoen kan je zelf je citroenen, sinaasappels en mandarijnen plukken. Gewoon een aanrader in de Algarve.

Fantastic Villa - Brilliant Holiday-Lovely Owners

We stayed for three weeks over Xmas and New Year and had a lovely time. We had my daughter and her family out for 10 days and the Children 10 and 15 had a good time - they particularly enjoyed the Chickens and Geese ( all fenced off and secure), so much so that they are planning to build a Chicken Coup in the spring at home! Being able to pick fresh Oranges and Lemons from the many Trees in the grounds was a new experience for them they were delicious, it will be hard going back to supermarket ones! The Villa was very well equipped everything you could want including WI Fi ! We have a dog Kevin the Cockapoo who loved it here - completely safe as the property is completely securely fenced off - he struck up a respectful co existence with the Geese and I think will miss them! The Villa is about 3 minutes drive from Espiche which has some nice restaurants - we ate at the Indian and had a fantastic meal at the Pizza Restaurant - go for the Giant Size ones unbelievable! Luz is a 5 minute drive and we loved it there. No high rises a beautiful beach and a lovely restaurant overlooking the sea where you can catch the last of the sun and have a late lunch and drink or two. We explored further west to Sagres with stunning coastlines and big surf. We particularly liked Salem’s a great Fish restaurant again overlooking the sea - stunning! If you play golf then you are spoilt for choice Espiche Golf Club is a 5 minute drive away and they do lovely food. Shopping is close buy with both Lidl and Aldi 10 minutes away. The Villa is an ideal base for touring but mostly we chillled around the Villa after the Grandkids left enjoying unbroken sunshine and temperatures at about 20 degrees for the entire duration and no rain😎 If you want a lovely peaceful holiday away from the hustle and bustle which is within easy reach of all amenities then you will not find better - it is a bit rural but that is its charm ! If you have a dog there is a very good vet close buy who will sort out your Pet Passport - English Speaking - Lagos Veterinary Clinic. Jose and Teresa are the lovely owners of the Villa- nothing was too much trouble for them and we hope to visit again👍

we enjoyed the owners Teressa and Jose very much. property is somewhat remote but very quiet and peaceful. We were there during a cold snap in February, but luckily the fireplace kept us warm. Bed is lumpy and should be replaced. Overall, you have everything you need for an extended stay. Kitchen is well equipped and the place was nice and clean. We would return again.

Lovely Villa, Lovely Location, Lovely People!

As you drive up to the villa entrance there are two large electric gates and as you drive through it opens into a small wonderland. There are three villas, two are rental and the owners live in the other. On arrival Josey & Teresa will welcome you, they are a lovely couple who will do anything to make your stay enjoyable and comfortable. Each villa has its own pool (ours was heated) and there is everything you need to make your villa your home. The grounds are interesting with lots of fruit trees and in season, you won't need to buy any oranges, tangerines, grapefruits or avocados! Its a safe and quiet place where you can enjoy time around your pool, eating, drinking and relaxing. Soak up the sun and cool off in the pool! It's an ideal base to explore the region. Praira da Luz and Lagos town are a short drive away as are the golf courses of Espiche & Boavista and a great way to unwind at the end of the day is in the Jacuzzi watching the sun go down with a glass of bubbly!

Perfect place for a family!

We stayed in the villa for 8 days with our three young children. The home was clean and welcoming upon arrival, with a few necessities available in the fridge and a full basket of wood for the fireplace. The pool, deck, and hot tub were immaculate. The yard was maintained and the swing set was hung with a baby swing as soon as the owner saw the ages of our babies. Everything we asked for was available on demand, from details like detergent for the washing machine, toys for the beach, and recommendations for things to see and do in the area. We won't stay anywhere else in Portugal and plan to return with visiting family this summer!

Peace and Tranquility

Should you want the ultimate in peace and quiet you could not do any better than stay here. We have been travelling to the Algarve for 25 years and this was like stepping back in time to the real Portugal we have known and loved. The owners greeted us on arrival with a friendly 'Hi hope your journey was OK. Please check that everything is to your satisfaction' we were even supplied with an additionlal private mobile number above our tour operator contact details should we have any problems which was very reassuring. The villa was in itself comfortable and homely with plenty of equipment to make preparing and serving meals easy, but the outstanding thing for us was the peace an quite. Having had a busy time at home all we wanted was to completely relax without having lots of people or activities going on around us. The villa was in easy reach by car of supermarkets and restaurants in abundance if that was our choice. The orange and grapefruit trees provided delicous fruit which we were at liberty to use, you have never tasted fruit like it! The pool was probably the cleanest that I have ever swam in. A young family would have a great time with the playground, chickens with their chicks and frog and toad watching in the little pond security gates add to your peace of mind. We are booking again as soon as work allows!!! Thank you Teresa and Jose

a little bit of paradise.....

we were looking for a week of quiet, simple relaxation and we found it right here. The villa is spacious and well equipped - we paid extra to heat the pool as it was early may and i would recommend the same to others as the pool is lovely - when heated, the 'top layer' was between 30 and 35 degrees - it was like swimming in the bath. Chickens and a peacock in the garden made it feel very rural and picking oranges off the trees for breakfast was amazing. A short drive took us into the resort of La Luz where there was plenty of choice of eating places and in the local village of Espiche was a delightful restaurant. All in all, a great place to stay - we will find an excuse to return.

Great relaxing place with fantastic pool

We enjoyed the privacy of the place, and the warm welcome of the owners. Garden and pool are stunning. Perfect place for our three children 14, 11 and 5, because the pool is directly in front of the villa. There is always a spot without wind and in the sun. Inside house is spacious, good shower, beds ok but a bit of a squeaky bed in masterbedroom. It's nice and cool inside, it has internet and Sat-TV for a rainy day, not that we had any! Poolwater was 29 C when we arrived, we had a welcome basket with bread, butter, jam and wine to start our holiday. Shops and beach nearby, under 10 minutes by car. Tips: New toaster, a good frying pan, and a better juicer to sqeeze the lovely fresh oranges you can pick straight from the trees. The directions to get to the house should mention that it is only 2 minutes from Espiche so you can find the way back if you miss the turn of on the highway. The coordinates given were not recognized by sat-nav? Owners are very helpfull and respect your privacy completely.

A relaxing holiday in the Algarve.

We found the villa comfortable, spacious, well-furnished, set in beautiful maintained gardens with a superb swimming pool which fulfilled all of our expectations. The property is only a 5 minute drive from the beach at the attractive resort of Praia da Luz with its shops, bars and restaurants though there are cafes and restaurants even closer by in the village of Espiche. The location is ideal for golfers and for exploring the western Algarve, but the villas peaceful setting lends itself well to those looking for a laidback relaxing holiday. We enjoyed our stay at Horta da Avozinha in 2011 so much, that we returned to the sister property Villa Kimbo in 2012 and enjoyed it just as much!

Wonderful Escape

We had an amazing time at this idylic escape which is secluded and private but in easy reach of the attractions of Luz and of some fine golf courses! The owners were there to help but were unobtrusive and did not disturb our privacy. The villa was better than we dared hoped and as well as the benefits listed offered a good selection of English TV channels and free Wi Fi. We plan to return.

Where do I start, villa was excellent the best we have stayed in Portugual enhanced our holiday considerably by the owners Jose and Teresa, who went out of their way to make our holdiay very special.The Villa is in its own private secure grounds 'Horta Da Avozinha' meaning grandmas kitchen garden , which sums it up beatifully. Electric gate access so felt very safe and within the large grounds are two independent Villas - Villa Kimbo and Villa Avozinha. Both villas stand at opposite ends of the lovely garden, so there is no compromise of privacy and each has its own large pool which are kept very clean.The gardens are well maintained,in the grounds are fruit trees and chickens, geese and ducklings which are fantastic if I had not have had customs to contend with I may have been tempted to pop one back to the UK they were highly amusing especially when eating our leftovers and one very determined duckling kept escaping and running up and down the drive way. Many eggs had for breakfast beautiful orange yokes.We also had a visiting peacock which was wild but had a passion for crisps and was more tame than wild. We also saw squirrels , as well as birds of prey hovering in the sky as the villa is very remote. No traffic noise no loud music just the beautiful nose of the ducks and chickens and neighbouring cockerials in the mornings joyous for us as we live in the country and we felt very much home from home, if you a city deweller and don't like the country this villa is certainly not for you, if however you like tranquility and beauty of nature this is a definately the place to go to recharge your batteries and relax.The villa is well equiped more than large enough for 8 people as their are numerous places to sit and eat or relax.A car is essential as although the beach at Luz is less than 2 miles away there are better beaches for swimming which are less crowded and more private, however the rock formations in priaia young and old alike will be fascinated. With the Western Algarve there are lots of monuments and the visit to Fort at Cape st Vincent and the lighthouse is a must, continuing on the western coast heading north there are the most spectacular views of the coastline also excellent beaches for surfing. Lagos is a 20 minute drive and well worth a visit also good supermarkets for food and vinho definately a must for a joyous holiday.Great location for exploring. Jose and Teresa we cannot thank you enough we will certainly be returning again.

Perfect Family Villa

Our family (two adults and a 9 year old) stayed in the Villa for a week in early August. The Villa was actually better than we had expected from the photographs. It was much larger, with a huge living area. Also, there is a great orchard area with lots of ducks, geese, hens which is great for kids to explore and also feed the animals. If staying in the Villa, a hire car is essential as there are no shops/restaurants within walking distance. There are a number of beaches/resorts within less than a 10 minute drive. Finally, the Villa owners Teresa and Jose could not be friendlier. Our hire car broke down on the penultimate day of our holiday and they were absolutely fantastic in helping us. They spoke (at length) to the car hire company and even offered to loan us their car whilst we waited for a replacement. We would definitely return and would not hesitate to recommend the Villa.

schönes Ferienhaus

Wir waren zum 2. mal in der Villa und es hat uns wieder sehr gut gefallen. Das große eingezäunte Grundstück bietet viel Platz zum Spielen und erholen. Besonders hervorzuheben ist der beheizbare Pool, in dem wir uns gern erfrischt haben. Daneben sind die Vermieter Teresa und Jose sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Es hat uns hier an nichts gefehlt und wir haben einen schönen Urlaub verbracht.

Ausspannen an der Algarve

Wir hatten im April 2012 vier wundervolle Wochen der Erholung und Ruhe bei Teresa und Jose in Portugal. Es waren erholsame Tage ohne Hektik, Goßstadtlärm und Streß, stattdessen Natur und Entspannung pur. Wir haben die Ruhe genossen und sind, wenn wir Lust hatten, nach Luz oder Lagos zum Bummeln, Essen oder an den Strand gefahren. Wir haben an zwei Sonntagen vormittags Flohmärkte besucht, sehr interessant. Teresa und Jose haben uns genauso liebevoll und herzlich empfangen wie im letzten Jahr und waren jederzeit für uns da. Wir haben wieder den ganzen Garten für uns nutzen dürfen und reichlich Gebrauch von frischen Apfelsinen, Zitronen und Eiern gemacht. Wir sagen an dieser Stelle noch einmal herzlichen Dank (multo obrigado) an Teresa und Jose für eine wundervolle Zeit. Helmut und Angelika

Perspective on Portugal

We very much enjoyed our stay here. Horta da Avozinha is very much the lifes'work of Jose and Teresa who are on site as it is also their home and their creation is undoubtably a credit to them.Our stay within their walls was characterised by their bon amee,by their animals and an uncommon level of care and cleanlyness that we had not previously experienced.

Wonderfull relaxing time.

Well we had a really relaxing holiday, the villa is simply first class. It has everything you could need and is so well equipped and welcoming. We spent most days around the pool and even in mid October the temperature was reaching 27 degrees. Lunch on the patio with a bottle of chilled white wine made for a lazy afternoon. The chickens geese and ducks are very accommodating as they too appear to snooze in the afternoon. The villa has free wireless internet access which was great for the laptop and smartphone and was so easy to set up, there's a TV with some satellite channels and a good selection of paperbacks if you run out of reading, Beach towels are provided and the villa was cleaned mid week by two charming ladies. A nice welcome pack of bread, cheese, ham, tea, coffee biscuits and even some bottles of wine was more than we expected. Jose the owner called in to see us and was a nice friendly man. The Villa is located down a dusty lane and 'its only a short drive to Luz where there is some good restaurants and enough supermarkets to stock up on. We also went to Lagos for some meals out, The beaches are very nice and we went to Alvor and Burgau. We rarely go back to the same place twice on the basis that It's a big wide world out there, but we wouldn't hesitate returning here.

absolute bliss

our welcome on arrival was so friendly that we felt we knew teresa and jose already. We were given a quick tour of our villa and then left to get our own feel for the place. The accomodation was first class and faultless as were the grounds and pool. A blown light bulb was replaced within minutes which is how attentive the hosts are. There isnt many places now where one can totally relax without a care in the world for safety and security but this is one such place. I have already recomended avozinha and will go on doing so. See you again teresa and jose, and thank you for helping to create a wonderful memory.

Golden childhood memories led us(Teresa and Jose Sampaio to name our holiday home we have built in the country side near LUZ, "Horta da Avozinha", Granny´s Garden".The name is apt since Villa Avozinha offers all the joys of a real country childood.
