Cottage Access
The location of Pendruffle Cottage is quite unique being set upon a hillside with wonderful views overlooking the East Looe river and sea inlet. The access from the main road to the cottage is well signposted via a double wooden gate through a woodland driveway with a sharp steep right hand bend leading up to the designated car parking space for Pendruffle itself. The cottage is then approached from the car park by a down gradient pathway with a hand rail for anybody with walking issues with Pendruffle being the second cottage on your left. The cottage has its own pathway with a up gradient with a few steps leading up to the ground floor patio and entrance.
To access Looe from the cottage you turn left at the bottom of Pendruffle pathway walk up the pathway until you come to some steps leading down to Barclay House driveway where you can access "St Johns Walk" which leads onto the main road which for the very first part has no footpath so care needs to be taken on this part. The downhill walk into the village centre itself only takes approximately 10 minutes. Alternatively it is a 2 minute drive for those who do not fancy the uphill walk back to the cottage.

One bedroom cottage on two floors located on a hillside around 15 minutes walk via steps or 3 minutes drive to the centre of Looe. Lounge with patio on ground floor with kitchen on half landing and bedroom with balcony on first floor. Very quiet area with fantastic views across the valley from the property. Very clean and tastefully furnished with fully equiped kitchen and comfortable seating area in the lounge. Large bathroom with shower enclosure and corner bath. Great communication with the owners. Highly recommended.
Such a beautiful cottage, quiet and peaceful, with stunning views, makes you feel as though you are in the middle of the countryside, but is literally a 3-4 minute drive from the centre of Looe. The cottage is spotlessly clean, and contains everything you could possibly need for your holiday.Would definitely stay there again if in the area, and would highly recommend for anyone wanting a holiday in Looe or surrounding areas.

Great quality accommodation... Clean, warm, modern windows and doors, great jacuzzi bath, almost everything you need for cooking prep etc, WiFi, blue Ray, netflix, amazon alexa etc etc definitely recommended.
We had a wonderful time in Looe, hiking and cycling. Pendruffle Cottage is beautifully located and we had everything we needed to enjoy our 2 weeks vacation! Contact with the owners was great, with tips where to eat etc. In short, we recommend Pendruffle Cottage if you want to explore Cornwall!

The cottage was perfect. Cosy lounge, kitchen had everything, large comfortable bed, spacious bathroom - loved the jacuzzi bath. Spotlessly clean. Fabulous views especially from the bedroom balcony. Great having a parking space. Within walking distance of Looe and the South West Coast Path. Really quiet. Such a beautiful area to explore. We hope to return.

I am sorry that you couldn’t see the river which is because the trees are in full leaf and grown since we last took a photo from the bedroom balcony of the view.
On a positive note moving forward please could you recommend what you would have liked to see in the kitchen and the overall cottage to have made you stay better.
We always look to improve and are disappointed with how you personally felt about Pendruffle just being oke with an 8-10 score which is not what we are used to receiving from our guests.
Hopefully you enjoyed Cornwall and what Looe and the surrounding area had to offer you both on your stay and hope you have a safe journey home.

Very comfortable and tranquil.
Perfect for two people looking for some peace and quiet. Slept really well in a large and comfortable bed. Cottage was well located for use as a base for coastal walks during the day and an easy walk into Looe town meant that lots of different restaurants were possible for evening meals.
Highly recommended.

Hi Lorna
Thank you for you review and glad you liked Pendruffle. I am sorry you had to leave 3 Stats for the sharp right hand bend that leads to the car park and you feel it wasn’t explained in the access description to the car park. We do explain it is a sharp and steep right hand bend so all we can do is apologise that this was an issue for you but appreciate your review and feedback.
Thank you Rob for your welcome.
Pendruffle is an amazing apartment with a tremendous view, I would highly recommend. A home from home.
A short walk or drive into Looe and a fabulous base to further explore Cornwall.

The whole experience from start to finish was wonderful. An ideally located cottage, 10 minutes walk from the beautiful seaside town of Looe, and 5 minutes from train station. The host provided everything we needed for our stay, and was helpful throughout. The cottage itself in a very quiet location, ideal for a peaceful break, overlooking the Looe Valley with nothing but nature at your doorstep. Highly recommended!

Well designed holiday cottage for two, withgreat views across the river valley. The cottage was well-equipped and suited us very well.
Visitors should be aware that the property is on a hillside, and consequently access is via a number of steps. Also, pedestrian access to Looe starts on an A-road with no walkway.

We stayed for 6 days from 17th to 23rd June 2023
We had a lovely relaxing time in the cottage with everything you could need there, the bed is large and soo comfy didn’t want to get out of it !
The weather was kind to us which is unusual we always seem to pick the wrong week with the u.k weather being a bit hit and miss and we spent the week in shorts
It’s in a great location to explore surrounding areas
Just be careful on the little lane up and down to the parking space it freaked me out it’s very steep with a sharp turn but my little car managed it lol !
The owners give you a call to welcome you and are at the other end of the phone if you need them
Loved the bedroom balcony highly recommend 😍😍😍

Pendruffle Cottage in Looe for 5 Nights in September
The cottage is situated on a hill side just outside Looe town centre. It’s suitable for people without mobility problems due to an inclined pathway from the car park and steps to access the cottage. There’s a designated parking spot which is great. The driveway leading up from St Martin’s road is narrow with a steep and sharp right hand bend but take it carefully and most cars will be fine! I’d recommend driving down into Looe to avoid a walk along the busy road with no pavement. The cottage has views over the tree tops lining the valley. You can’t see the river from the cottage but the view is still nice. The cottage was clean and comfortable, well equipped and fairly spacious with three short flights of stairs leading to the kitchen and then the bedroom and bathroom. Towels and linen were provided. It has a free view tv in the lounge with Wi-Fi and Netflix (sign in yourself) which was welcome. I’d recommend this cottage to a couple wanting peace and quiet as a base to visit places such as Looe, Polperro and Mevagissy.

We had two wonderful weeks in Pendruffle. Communications with the host was exceptional. Unfortunately the washing machine decided to pack up while we were there, but we had offers of help from Caroline who lives in Looe, and it just wasn't a problem. The view from the patio was lovely, and was perfect for just sitting and watching the sunset.Looe itself is gorgeous - we highly recommend the Sardine Factory Restaurant for a lush meal. We also got the chance to watch the Polperro Fisherman's Choir singing in the Lifeboat Station - wonderful! Would highly recommend taking a boat trip - there are loads to choose from.Pendruffle is in a brilliant location for places of interest - the Eden Project, Looe Museum, Lanhydrock, Polperro... the list is endless. All in all a great holiday home. Thanks Rob and Shazy.

Many thanks again for you kind understanding and most importantly to hear how much you enjoyed Looe and Pendruffle.

Didn’t have WiFi .so there was no internet tv . So only basic tv . No washing machine as it had broken down. They said that there would be a new one put in on Friday and no one came . Couldn’t sit outside upstairs as the chairs had a hole in it . And furniture in sitting room tired . Kitchen well equipped. Beautiful views from bedroom. Hard walk to and from Looe.

We are saddened by your 3 star review which is not something we have ever had before from our guests.
It’s extremely difficult when you have back to back bookings and something breaks down such as the washing machine. We tried so hard to get this sorted while you were there with Caroline who looks after Pendruffle for us offering to do a laundry run for you with no response to that offer from yourselves.
The internet problem was outside of our control with BT having server problems and again we tried so hard to get it remedied for your stay.
Its such a shame that you felt that it was not good enough, believe me tried so hard and it would have been nice if a little bit of realistic human understanding on situations that happened outside of our control was shown.
We have never had a comment about tired furniture in the lounge or the hole in the balcony chairs which we could have addressed while you were there but this was not mentioned during your stay although we were in contact with you.
We clearly say in the advert for Pendruffle that it’s best to have a car to get around and sorry that the walk into Looe was particularly hard for you both.
We always try our upmost to accommodate our guests to ensure they have a great stay but at the end of the day we are only human.
We would hope you enjoyed Looe and the wonderful places around especially as the sun shone for you on your stay and we wish you a safe onward journey home
Kind regards

Das Cottage ist liebevoll eingerichtet. Man hat alles was man benötigt.

About the host
Hosted by Rob
My wife and I bought this cottage as our Cornish hideaway. We loved it so much we decided to share its uniqueness with other couples who wanted something that little bit different.
Why they chose this property
We stayed in this actual cottage years ago when it was part of the hotel. When the cottages were subsequently separated from the hotel and came up for sale we liked it so much we bought it.
It is in a unique spot away from the hustle and bustle of Looe but only a matter of minutes away. With its stunning views overlooking the estuary that flows into the sea and its amazing sunsets it offers a real feeling of tranquillity and calm.
What makes this property unique
With it's unique layout over 3 floors, that all flow into one another and it's beautiful views you cant help but feel relaxed.
The ground floor terrace or bedroom balcony is where you can enjoy an alfresco breakfast and a romantic evening glass of wine while watching the summer sun set over the Looe valley/river.
