The Bunkhouse has a welcoming cozy feel and was designed to accommodate our two kids and our 7 grandkids. Both bedrooms have a full bath, are cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The covered deck is large and accommodating with ample seating, a well-equipped kitchen area, and a breakfast table. The yard space is shaded most of the year with our pecan trees. There is also a charcoal BBQ pit, two picnic tables, and a firepit. As you can see in the pics, we built the Bunkhouse onto our barn. We still have a few miniature horses around, a few dwarf goats(we drink the milk!) and some random chickens, dogs, and cats. They won't bother you, but are available to see if you would like "the tour". Swimming the full one mile of our river is a unique adventure. We have the Blue Hole, the Emerald Pot, the Slip & Slide, and let's not forget the Katfish Kitchens. We will have a map to guide you along the river! The Bunkhouse area is entirely yours, with plenty of parking area for your vehicle(s). If interested in seeing or participating, we still have some goats and chickens around the barn that need daily attention from us. Our house is nearby, but we are available if needed. Access to the river amounts to one full mile of both sides of our river(the Dry Frio). You will be able to walk up or down the river, look for fossils, or hang out at one of our favorite swimming spots. Bring your floats, lots of guests use their "pop-ups" and make a home base where they are hanging out. We are very remote! It is 35 miles to Uvalde, the closest grocery store. Be sure and bring the food you want to eat and any other supplies you want on your stay here. Fill up your gas tank in your vehicle before you arrive. It is 18 miles to Concan, the closest convenience store. Leakey and Uvalde are both about 35 miles from the Bunkhouse!
Pets are allowed with prior approval and EACH pet will require a $50 pet fee.{1 pet-$50 pet fee, 2 pets-$100 pet fee, 3 pets-$150 pet fee.) Pets must be housebroken and well behaved. Great experience during our weekend stay! Hosts are so sweet and took kids out to feed the goats and see animals on their property. Water was low but that was expected still found a great spot to swim and fish! Kids had a blast exploring looking for stones and fossils. Very kid friendly. Over all great experience!
We very much enjoyed our stay, bunkhouse was very cozy, clean and family friendly. We loved the open space and very short distance to the private river. My kids had a blast tubing down the river, saw some small fishes and were able to feed the owner’s small goats. The owners were also extremely helpful with directions and provided great hospitality. Hoping to rebook again for the summer!
We absolutely loved our stay! The hosts were so nice and welcoming. We loved all of their animals plus the wild animals that visited. We saw rabbits, deer, and racoons in addition to the chickens, goats and nearby longhorns, sheep and a pony. It was very comfortable and peaceful. We loved the outdoor/indoor living concept. While we had no phone service, our wifi worked great.
Thanks, Melissa. We enjoyed your stay with us. We are going to work on your suggestions, We just located a new stove, the gas grill may have to go over to our house for its last days! Please consider us in the fall for another visit. The area is beautiful as winter approaches.
This little cabin was perfect for our weekend in the Hill Country. We loved spending time on the big porch. It is far from everything, and we like that.
Hostesses were excellent. Tried to help with all your needs. Even allowed our kids to help feed the drawf goats and chickens. The water was excellent nice and cold. Will stay again!!
We enjoyed this place so much! Dan and his wife are so nice and friendly! They invited us to feed the chickens, goats and have us some fresh eggs for breakfast! Will stay here again!
Dan was a super attentive host and was very awesome when he refunded our money after the Frio flooded the day we were suppose to check in. He gave us proper directions and kept us up to date on the river situation to keep us out of harms way. Can't wait to try this palce next summer!
We had friendly hosts, excellent amenities and an overall rewarding experience, especially for the little ones. If you are looking for a truly relaxing getaway from the hustle and bustle, this is the place.
My friends and I had a great stay. The hosts were great. We enjoyed how secluded it was and even had a little spot at the river to hang out in during the day. Perfect set up and had everything we needed. Would definitely recommend!

These friends get together every year. We felt lucky to have them here this year. Any hosts should hope this group picks them next year. Everybody was great. They took very good care of the Bunkhouse. It even rained after they left!
We loved the area, the bunkhouse, and Dan and Pat. Our daughter loved milking their goat, we loved walking around and exploring. We hated to leave and can't wait to get back!
Our family loved this cabin! The outdoor living/kitchen area was our favorite. It was great to disconnect with no TV! The kids enjoyed exploring, feeding the animals and stomping around in the river. The outdoor games were a great addition for us. The owners are wonderful! We cannot wait to visit again!

Marissa was a wonderful, friendly guest. She communicated well and left our place very clean. I would highly recommend her.
Our hosts were super sweet and friendly. The location was remote. The out door kitchen was great. Nice river spots. Everything was clean and neat at check in.
Great place for a home base in the area. Clean comfortable beds, and small outdoor kitchen was all we really needed. FYI no cell service at the bunkhouse and WiFi is weak and patchy. But we enjoyed our time there.

We enjoyed your stay. We found the problem with the wifi after you left. The neighborhood suffered a huge lightning strike, the phone company replaced a lot of fried routers, I even replaced our wiring for the landline and the router. The internet lives again at the Bunkhouse! See you guys again.

The property itself was great. Clean rooms, great outdoor kitchen, lots of wildlife to watch and games available for entertainment. The owners, Dan and Pat, are great people. We had a very relaxing weekend.
Our family had a great time. In spite of raining weather we all enjoyed the time in the hill country and away from the city.
We enjoyed disconnecting- and seeing the stars the way GOD intended.

Thank you for the great review. We really enjoyed that your children liked feeding the goats. Also, your dogs were amazingly well mannered and beautiful. Come and visit us again soon!! Check your text.....
We loved the rusticness of the cabin. It had everything we needed and if we needed anything the host was just right next door. Our kids loved to see the chickens and goats they had on the property. We saw many other animals on our visit and swam whenever we could. We found a little spring fed swimming hole. Great little getaway.
If u want to get away from city life and enjoy the outdoors this is the place for u. BBQ,games, cooking outdoors, stars up at the sky, hiking up a mountain, and best of all the clear Kristal water from the river. Best place.
Everything was beautiful and welcoming. Amazing stay with the family with all supplies needed. Would love to visit again. Thank you for the owner giving my family and I a fresh batch of eggs. 💜

Family River Trip
Simple, minimalist, rustic cabin. Outdoor kitchen & nice size porch. Camping knowledge is helpful. Owners house is right next to the cabin, literally, however, they were kind & gave our family privacy. Very remote location. No cell service but WiFi access. River had enough water to sit, relax & float some.
