You will be sure to appreciate the waterfront location towards the back of a quiet neighborhood located on a lagoon/pond with prevelant wildlife. The natural light abounds inside the home with skylights, soaring ceilings, large windows and disappearing slider doors. Enjoy beautiful waterfront sunsets and a relaxed artsy vibe inside surrounded with lush tropical plants including plumerias, monstera, ferns, hibiscus and much more. Wonderful floorplan including bright kitchen that opens up to the living room with barstools. Everything you'd need to cook at home is provided. Nearly every type of coffee make, blender, utensils, cookware. You'll love the arched architectue around the pool that makes you feel worlds away. This area of Florida provides the perfect location close to both Sarasota and Venice without the crowds. Nokomis Beach is a favorite with locals and offers a fishing jetty and far less people than neighboring Sarasota beaches. Walk from Nokomis Beach to the prestigious Casey Key and you'll feel like you have your own private beach. There is plenty to do close by with a state park, the legacy trail, golf, groceries and ample amount of restaurants, stores etc. Enjoy the views to the heated pool or lake from nearly every room. The master features a king pillow top bed, small sofa/lounging area, tv, dresser, full sliders to pool, 2 huge closets. The large bath features double vanities, soaking tub, toilet closet and shower with slider to private courtyard...offering a truly unique showering experience. The second bedroom has it's own wing on the other side of the house and features lake views with a queen bed and a large full bath. The third bedroom has a full bed and small desk. The home is most suitable for 2-5 adults. Boat and Jet Ski rentals available closeby at Island Jet Ski next to popular Casey Key Fish House/ Tiki bar. Beach towels, chairs, cooler provided. Great Place, Great Location!

Our host Erin was great and really have no complaints about our stay there for 3 weeks, we had good weather in the 80's each day, the pool was great and we stayed outside in the pool area pretty much the days we were home from dust til dawn.

Another Great Stay at Big Pink!

If you seek peace, quiet and plenty to do within a 10 minute drive then this is the place to be! A great house with a nice pool on a cul-de-sac next to a large pond with a token gator is perfect SW Florida! A number of very good restaurants, pubs, golf courses and I almost forgot beaches are close by. Already looking forward to our return trip next year!

Another Great Stay!

Another great stay at Big Pink! This is our 3rd year and we keep finding more things to do in this area! The house and pool were in great shape and ready for our stay! Really enjoyed the new gas grill and quiet evenings poolside. Gators in the water and bald eagles in the trees of the neighborhood - awesome! Excellent location that is perfect for easy walks and bike rides. Looking forward to a return visit next year!

Nice Vacation Week

This late 90's home has plenty of room and an ample size pool. It is in a clean and peaceful neighborhood and is also only 8 minutes away from Nokomis Beach. It is right next to a lake with tall birds that visited every morning near the outside table with my morning coffee. Erin the owner did a wonderful job of communicating with us. Would like to go back again.

Disappointment

We found the house to be in much need of an update. Small things like hole in screen door, refrigerator door missing shelves, microwave handle broken, fan in bathroom not working, the outlet in master bath didn’t work, blender was broken. The dryer quit and the host was very quick to get a replacement but we spent a week without the pool being heated and she was very rude and irritated with us for bothering her about it. We will not be staying here again

Thanks for the stay but as I told you at first text the filter likely had to be changed and your brother w you, who you said maintained a pool at home refused to change with one avail in garage. You had to wait a couple days for pool co to put you on schedule which cost me an extra $250 to my monthly cleaning bill. My last text to you was to acknowledge that the issue was out my hands and to stop sending 6-10 texts a day ( all of which I responded to agreeably) about a pool heater in 85 degree weather. After 3 days it was getting to the level of harassment. You clearly don’t know how to enjoy yourself even on vacation which is just a shame! I wish life was perfect but it’s not and sometimes my dear you just have to roll with the tide and enjoy this one precious life you have! I am not sorry at all that you won’t be returning, not in the least.

Golf trip accomodations

The best part about this location was the pool. The house was dirty and unkept. Basic supplies like paper towels and facial tissue were missing. The appearance was nothing like the photos. The landscaping was overgrown including the sidewalk up to the house. The furniture was a hodge podge of random items. Biggest disappointment was the internet and wireless service.

I am not at all sure how the photos didn't match your expectations because it is the same house indeed, Florida has high growth of vegetation but the yard is serviced twice a month. I am not sure why you wouldnt contact me about wireless, it's always worked fine and we surely would have fixed any issue for you had you contacted us but didn't hear anything about these issues until this review.

Great location comfortable home

We stayed on short notice for a family emergency. The house was very comfortable with great space and a great location. Looked like a really nice place to have a family vacation. Very homey. Well stocked with essentials. Coomunication was prompt. The outside area was starting to get overgrown so it made it less comfortable enjoying the outside areas. WIFI was good. Possibly need some basic instructions for the various tv setups to get basic channels. Some maintenence issues inside as the second bathroom shower was not working and we had to run the main bathroom shower for some time to clear a strong sulfuric odor from the water heater.

Thanks James, as you know you reserved the home the day prior to arrival on extremely short notice and the home had not been occupied in a bit. Additionally as mentioned we gave up the house for our own visit that weekend to you, we had planned to do a deep cleaning and yard maintenance. The shrubs can quickly get overgrown as is the case with any property in S Florida and we try our best to keep it under control but the yard staff didn't notify me and you were also notified prior to arrival that we had planned maintenance scheduled. I was never informed of an issue with the shower which would have been repaired/addressed right away if mentioned. The water in water heater can develop an odor if it sits, again this is typical of S Florida with high levels of sulfur. Thanks for your visit!

Cluttered

This is a lovely property but it is tired. The house is cluttered with furniture at every turn. The pool area is in need of a power wash and the plants outside the cage are overgrown to the point the pool area is stuffy. Area rugs I’m sure are not cleaned between visits and master bed mattress has stains. Iron is old and black on the bottom. Outside grill is filthy as is the patio table and chairs near it.

You sound like a lovely human Don, I hope you find your perfect place somewhere. In the meantime perhaps give people and life a bit more grace. None of these concerns were ever mentioned to me directly and your necessity to leave a negative public review with no direct communication is a demonstration of your character in my opinion. I was just at the property for the first time in 6mo due to bookings and while I did some yard maintenance mostly, I disagree with your review of the condition; guests are supposed to take care of the grill and keeping things orderly during their stay as the cleaners do not handle this. All mattresses have covers and I did not see any stains when inspecting them myself. The house rules are listed in the house book. The home is furnished exactly as pictured, I’m sorry you chose the wrong property for your vacation.

The house was very neglected. It wasn't prepared or cleaned for guests. It looked as if no one had lived there for six months. There were cobwebs around the house and pool. The furniture was old, and the dishwasher was old and made noise even at night. The carpets and rugs were old and dirty, making it impossible to walk on barefoot. Disgusting! The pool was neglected, full of cobwebs, and the pool furniture was unacceptable. It was full of dust and dirt. It was a shame. I had trouble finding internet. I sent a message and called the host, but no response. It was disrespectful to a customer who spent 2,000 for six nights. I wouldn't want to spend a night in such a house for free. It was a waste of money. There wasn't even a net to catch bugs in the pool.

Wow Robert you really can't find anything nice to say. There is a net for the pool inside the garage. I certainly don't replace furniture for every guest nor is it advertised as being new. It was cleaned a week prior to your arrival and I was there 3 week prior and had a lovely time. Why would a dishwaher make noise unless you had it turned on.... I never got any messages, texts or calls from your number. None. Next time you require and expect new/updated, please spend the extra money for a property that meets your needs. This property is less than all surrounding one bedroom hotel rooms so your perspective is extremely ignorant. I can't control aspiders from entering the pool area and not one human being has had any issue with rugs or furniture.

Month in Laurel

The high points of this place: proximity to the Legacy Trail and Nokomis beach. Great neighborhood for long walks on quiet streets, retreat like setting. Private space at end of road. Pool area is lovely and secluded. Because we have chemical sensitivities and a recent bout with lymphoma, we specifically inquired about fragrances used in the house. We were informed "scents and chemicals are kept to a minimum." Unfortunately, not so. Fragrances were sprayed on almost all upholstery. The extra foam mattress on the bed was saturated with a strong smell. We removed 9 "odorizers", either plugged in or tucked around things which emitted strong unpleasant smells. We put them out to the garage. Two of the sliding glass doors and the window by the tub cannot be opened without brute force. If you have no problems with strong smells, this place is fine. Spacious, quiet, peaceful.

Lush Waterfront home near Casey Key

The property is spacious, in a quiet neighborhood, near grocery stores, restaurants, and a short drive to Nokomis beach. The pool is wonderful and was my favorite part of the property. I did have some unpleasant surprises after checking in. The garbage disposal was broken, the microwave vent was held in place with duct tape, but most disturbing of all was the dishwasher. The heated dry cycle is not working, and the inside of the dishwasher had mold growing throughout. So I had to hand wash our dishes for the entire week. The house also had an odor that was something other than musty. The bed linens were frayed and torn. I am particular about the condition and cleanliness of the properties I rent and this one failed. I did reach out to the owner early in my stay and she indicated that there was nothing she would do until she physically visited the property in a few weeks. It's a shame because this house has a lot going for it but it needs a lot of TLC.

Apologies that your high expectations were not met but I am here now and thoroughly enjoying myself despite your negative review. There was no mold inside the dishwasher when I arrived other than minor discoloration and it works fine…just doesn’t heat dry. I removed the air fresheners that I assume you placed because in my opinion they smell terribly fake to me. This property was built in the 80s and is used and enjoyed by many different people throughout the year, some are better stewards than others. The garbage disposal merely needed a turn with the Allen wrench in the drawer as it gets stuck when people don’t use it for a while. There was a smell in the garage from trash left behind that I noticed and I have bleached the cans. I will not be providing new appliances every time a guest breaks something unless it is necessary for its function and I do not advertise the property as updated. With all due respect you likely should have paid more and stayed at a smaller property advertised as updated and not “relaxed”. This property one is clearly and accurately advertised. I also did not see any frayed linens upon arrival, there was one tear in the back room bed dust ruffle which I will replace. You never once requested any repairs during your short stay and your review is simply not accurate nor truthful.
