About this property
Upgraded & Private Cabin, Incredible Views over 6+ acres by Nat'l park access
Your remote six+ acres at RavensRest Cabin is situated high between pine and aspens, just steps from the Pike National Forest and a short walk away from fishing and hiking at the bottom of the property (you must have a CO fishing license for any fishing). This cabin is on a private mountainside and has upgraded everything that you will need to get away from it all and is clean and comfortable and nicely furnished (new appliances and 120+Mb wifi). It looks rustic, but underneath it has upgraded amenities, including great Starlink wifi (but we recommend you shut down electronics so you are not distracted from the views)! Private, with all the necessities, including 300 degree views with a short hike up your own mountaintop. Enjoy the large bedroom with a comfortable memory queen, or sit out in the living room in front of the gas fireplace, or lie back on a leather couch in front of the sunlit windows. The large concrete patio provides a great place for views and wildlife and good company. The front and back porch are large enough to sit and bask in the views with a cup of tea or glass of wine. This property is perfect for a couple or small family who want to get away, or for artists or writers or for people just looking to get back to nature and to enjoy the quiet and creative time, and for small families. Those who love the outdoors will benefit from the close proximity to the national forest, and Tarryall Reservoir is close for those who like a little splash.
Guests will love the view from the top of our property, will love the easy walk to the fishing pond, the short drive to Tarryall Wilderness and Reservoir or any other close location for hiking and biking and skiing and fishing and trails and privacy. This cabin feels like 'the old West' but has updated everything: electricity, septic, well water, and even wifi and TV (but there is no over-air signal up here!) if all the nature is too much, and we have hanging chairs set around the property to relax in the sun. We provide two camp chairs as well, and there is a picnic table on the patio, grill, and chairs on the front porch.
Getting to our cabin means leaving paved roads and driving on groomed and plowed dirt roads for 5 miles, then up our dirt driveway. Snowy or icy and slick roads generally begin in October and November so plan for 4WD or tough AWD that you are comfortable driving in weather. Generally the end of our mud season and slick periods on our roads happen in late April and May, so plan for your rental vehicle or personal vehicle accordingly. This is in the forest and isolated, so many long-term visitors may want to bring plenty of groceries from Fairplay (24 miles) to the west, Bailey and Conifer (45 miles) to the east (there are a couple of 'pantry' shops within 15 miles, but they are not fully stocked grocery stores), and Hoskins 15 miles south for gas. It is always a good idea to arrive hydrated and to drink two times the normal intake of water to ensure you don't fall victim to altitude sickness (most of Park County is above 8500 feet), and of course, the weather can be unpredictable here so bring extra clothes if you feel so inclined. Check the weather and temps before you depart! Otherwise, we have everything but the food and drink!
Please note that we recommend parties of 1-4 but allow for up to 6. Groups over 4 put a huge strain on our water and septic system.
By booking our cabin, you agree that we are not responsible for your ability to arrive without incident. This is the mountains and weather is a thing--this is why we require 4WD in WINTER and highly advise a good AWD the rest of the year--the only guests who have had an issue have ignored this advice.
We have allergies so if we learn you have brought a pet without our approval we reserve the right to keep your deposit in order to have property cleaned to rid it of allergens.
All guests abide by water and septic conservation rules and local Park County laws. If we determine there are more than three guests, we will charge a fee $19 per guest per night) and an additional penalty ($25 per guest per night) for each additional guest. It is much easier just to be honest up front with how many guests you hope to include.
Please follow our house rules--our septic and water system cannot support more than four adult guests at a time--and we are much more accommodating if we know up front how many guests there are! All internet in the mountains here is from satellite, but we have Starlink so you generally are able to work from the cabin with the internet, but it is not like the city.
Guests MUST NOT (see Park County rules for renting) bring or use guns or any type of ATV on our property or in the local Buffalo area, and open fires are absolutely forbidden whether there is a fire ban or not.
