The living room offers a wonderful view of the surrounding tropical landscape and is tastefully decorated with Island-style furnishings. The sofa also makes into a comfortable double bed. Wailua Hideaway is located on the ground floor of a custom 2-story Redwood home that was beautifully crafted and is meticulously cared for.

The bedroom is spacious and inviting with stream and mountain views and its own private lanai. With doors and windows on three sides, the room stays cool and comfortable even on the warmest tropical days. The King bed is comfortable and lavishly adorned.

The tile bathroom is well ventilated and includes a shower/tub, towels and paper products. The Wailua Hideaway features a private laundry room for your convenience as well as all linens, beach towels and laundry soap.

The Wailua River is one of the most famous and traveled rivers in the State of Hawaii. A beautiful kayak trip up the Wailua River and a short hike will bring you to the stunning Ulu`Wehi Falls, more commonly known as 'Secret Falls'. Standing at approximately 120 feet, Secret Falls is a sight to be seen and the perfect backdrop for Picnics, photos and fun!

Or, if you'd prefer, you can see the Wailua River by motorized boat. Several tour companies offer hourly tours up the Wailua River to the famous Fern Grotto. Tours include Hawaiian entertainment by local musicians and hula dancers.

Loved the bedroom with screened sliding glass doors and beautiful view into the yard with tropical vegetation and a stream. Ground floor apartment a little dated and funky but that also gave it its charm. Overall a lovely place to stay and sheltered me well from Hurricane Lowell.

I extended my original stay for three more days, and wish I could extend further. This is a wonderful place, a spectacular view from the back deck, the hosts and amenities -- including or especially laundry -- are superlative, perfect for a single traveler (as I am, somewhat on business trip) or for a couple, and ideally located if you are a hiker, like to kayak, want to be near an accessible beach, are inclined to do a day trip on this side of the island or drive to the west side, and/or if you are a foodie. I've sort of made it my headquarters for work and play. In all honesty, it already feels like home and I'll be sad to leave.

Wailua Homesteads is a superlative rental, incredibly well maintained, situated (off the back deck) against a paradisiacal background. My original stay was booked for three nights; I extended for three more. It was with enormous reluctance I departed because, by that time, I felt like I was at home. The hosts, David and Lynda, are to be commended for their hospitality and amenities provided, and communication. The washer-dryer was a godsend given that I picked up quite a bit of dirt and mud hiking in the immediate area and throughout the Island, kayaking the nearby Wailua River, and swimming at nearby beaches. The locale is ideal: on the one hand, close to many great eateries and grocery and other stores and shopping outlets; on the other, minutes from disappearing into think, spectacular rain forest. Everything from booking to arrival to departure went as smoothly and efficiently as one could hope for. I highly recommend this wonderful place -- and I will return (hopefully soon).

We had the best time. The apartment has absolutely everything you need, the views from the back are stunning, and the apartment itself was very clean and comfortable. Couldn’t have asked for better hosts as well. You are right by a massive waterfall and canyon - can’t beat that! You won’t regret staying here.

The property was everything we hoped for. Beautiful and quite location with an easy drive to so many places on the island we wanted to visit. There was an initial problem with the kitchen plumbing but David our host communicated with us right away and had a plumber out asap. We had a wonderful week at Wailua Hidaway, and we would happily visit again.

We really enjoyed our stay at Wailua Hideaway. The setting is incredibly peaceful. We especially appreciated the privacy and the beautiful natural surroundings. The apartment was spotless, comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The location is perfect for sightseeing on the Island. It’s a short drive to the beaches and shops of Kapa'a, but far enough away that you escape the traffic and noise. We’d happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet getaway. Our hosts were wonderful and we easily blended into the neighborhood

Great little apartment.

We enjoyed staying here! Vrbo description was just as it is. Loved being on the back deck - peaceful and serene! Lots of wildlife to observe. Location was excellent. Close to shopping and eating establishments. David and Lynda were excellent to work with!
