About this property
Gite with pool & fab gardens 5 mins from quaint village with restaurants & shop
2 bedroom, 2 bathroom gite with private swimming pool and extensive gardens in the perfect village setting of Tremolat. This vibrant village has 4 restaurants, a village cafe with live music once a week, a shop with boulangerie and three Marche Nocturnes held in the village square. Within a 5 minute walk is the river where a range of canoes and pedalos can be hired.
This ideally situated gite has accommodation to suit couples or small families. The full and exclusive use of the solar heated swimming pool (open end May - Mid September) combined with the extensive gardens provides a beautiful, relaxing setting for those wishing to be in their own private space but close enough to walk to local amenities.
The gite has a double en-suite bedroom and a twin or superking en-suite bedroom , depending on your particular needs. All cleaning, bedlinen, towels and pool towels are provided free of charge. (Clean linen will be provided during the second week of a two week stay).
A fully equipped kitchen has all the comforts of modern day living with fridge/freezer, dishwasher, toaster, washing machine, cooker, microwave and is fully stocked with kitchen equipment should you wish to do your own cooking. A dining table and four chairs ensure you can eat your meals comfortably inside.
The lounge area has seating for four people, a large flat screen TV has both UK Freesat and all French tv channels. There is free Wifi and a DVD player. A large range of books and DVDs are available to borrow along with a small quantity of games and puzzles. For the more energetic there is a Games Barn with tabletennis, table football and darts.
During the summer months there is the added delight of an 8 x 4 metre pool solar heated swimming pool and an extensive range of reclining chairs. The large parasol or the beautiful white acacia tree provides shade for those who like to keep cool.
The property is in an ideal location. A 300 metre walk will take you into the attractive village square with its Michelin star restaurant, Le Vieux Logis, Bistro d’en Face, café/wine bar, La Tartine and pizzeria. In the same vicinity there is a small village shop which also acts as a boulangerie.
Another short walk will take you to Le Berge where during the summer months, there is the opportunity to hire a canoe or pedalo. A gentle paddle down the river will bring you to the beautiful village of Limeuil where the Dordogne and Vezere rivers meet.
The Dordogne is open for fisherman and daily and weekly licences can be purchased..
During the summer months many villages have a ‘ Marche Gourmand’ where visitors and locals are encouraged to join together for an outdoor feast. Tables and chairs are provided and a wide range of culinary specialities are offered for sale. The evening’s entertainment is usually concluded with singing and/or dancing. There are three of these in the square in Tremolat each year.
For those who wish to explore the area by car a few minutes’ drive will take you to the famous Cingle de Tremolat which offers breathtaking views over the meanders in the river.
The small towns or Lalinde and Le Bugue are just a 20 minute drive away and offer even more restaurants, supermarkets and shops as well as a market one day a week selling local specialities.
If history interests you then the world famous, ‘prehistoric capital of the world at Les Eyzie’ is just 30 minutes away. The area is also known to have over 100 chateaux and there are a number within a short drive, for example, Biron, Castelnaud and Beynac.
For the wine connoisseur a 40 minute drive to Bergerac will take you into the wine region where many of the local vineyards offer tastings.
Tremolat train station offers an opportunity for the traveller to sit back and just enjoy the scenery. There is a regular train service to the beautiful medieval town of Sarlat which is just a 40 minute train ride away. Alternatively, a longer journey of two hours will take you into the elegant city of Bordeaux, voted in 2015 as European best destination.
The Spring and Autumn are particularly attractive seasons to visit for those who prefer a more tranquil holiday. The landscape is alive with vibrant colours, the days are generally warm and sunny but the roads are beautifully quiet for driving or cycling. The area is a paradise for the keen rambler, with a host of well signposted scenic walks.
Whether you are a Rambler, Fisherman, Cyclist, Historian, Wine Connoisseur, ‘foodie’ or Sun worshipper, this part of France has something for you.

Why they chose this property
We started to visit the area in 2011 and when we eventually decided to buy a property we spent a long time researching the area to pinpoint one perfect spot. We believe Tremolat is that location with its proximity to so many local tourist spots and the fantastic facilities in the village. We bought the house in 2014 having only seen the area in the Spring and Autumn. We had seen enough of the area by this time to realise that the area was beautiful whatever the season. The summer brought even more delights. Beautiful, hot, summer days, long, balmy evenings, and a greater vibrancy to the area.
One of the great benefits of the properties are that they are within walking distance of amenities. Many of the French villages are extremely quiet, without even a shop or bakery. Although to many people visiting from the UK this is a bonus we wanted the French charm with a little more activity. Tremolat is fortunate to have not only a Michelin star restaurant but also a very highly regarded Bistro and Pizzeria and a recently opened wine/tapas bar. It is great after a long day sightseeing, relaxing by the pool, walking or cycling to realise that you can have pre-dinner drinks on the terrace and still not have to worry about your bottle of Bordeaux with dinner because you are not driving anywhere!
The stunning natural scenery and wealth of towns and villages in the area ensures that there is always somewhere to go and something to see.

What makes this property unique
A twin bedroomed property that offers accommodation for a smaller party and therefore offered at a price that can be more attractive to couples or a small family. Access to the wider garden and pool area ensures that visitors have the benefits normally only enjoyed by a larger gite. The adjoining Studio accommodation (see Home and Away property number 1931069) is available should there be a party of six.
