About this property
Thirty wooded acres, secluded, private five-acre lake, hot tub.
Aspen Lake House
Nestled in the heart of thirty wooded acres in northern Brown County, you'll enjoy total seclusion overlooking your own private five-acre lake from the hot tub on the back deck. Whether it's hiking, fishing, conversing around the fire pit or cuddling up by the fireplace, you'll find what you're looking for at Aspen Lake House. Conveniently located off Highway 135, just fifty minutes from downtown Indianapolis and fifteen minutes north of Nashville's quaint shopping village and restaurants; Aspen Lake House is the perfect get-a-way.
Decorated in a whimsical, eclectic style, this house utilizes energy efficient geo-thermal electric heating and cooling as well as eco-friendly furnishings made locally or found in thrift shops and salvage yards. We also provide a guide to eating locally during your stay. You'll love the mix of quality handmade tiles by local artists, antique doors complete with stained glass, colorful finishes and hand-woven rugs. Picture windows overlooking the lake cover the entire expanse of the back wall in the open floor plan of the living-room and kitchen. Once you discover this hidden bit of paradise, were sure you'll never want to leave.
Visitors who enter the house through the humble exterior are always pleasantly surprised when they open the front door and enter the spacious living room/kitchen with wall to wall hardwood floors and picture windows that give an almost tree house effect to the view of the private lake, that sits just a stone's throw from the back porch. The kitchen is fully equipped with table ware as well as pots and pans, coffee grinder, oven, microwave and toaster. It's the perfect setting to prepare your morning breakfast without losing sight of the surrounding woodland. In the early mornings, keep your eye out for the Blue Heron* that often stands in the mist on a sunken tree branch, preening his feathers or the deer that come down to the bank on the opposite side of the lake for a morning drink. There is a boat ramp for non-gas engine boats- great for electric trolling motors, kayaks and canoes.
The living room houses a stone fire place, comfy couch, pool table and a flat screen TV. On the entry level you'll also find a bathroom with a shower and a bedroom with a queen-size platform bed and custom headboard. On the back porch overlooking the small dock, you'll see two Adirondack chairs and a four person hot tub.
As you descend the stairs to the lower level you'll enjoy the bright colors and light Maple flooring that gives off a warm glow. Downstairs you'll find another full bath with a claw foot tub and original handmade tile that was made and installed by a local artist. You'll also find a large bedroom with a two big windows overlooking the lake, a king-size bed and another flat screen TV.
All our cabins have a 3 night minimum for Major Holidays.
