Jim's spot was the perfect place to call home while exploring Talkeetna. Not too far from the town but also so secluded and quiet. Everything was as described - we even were welcomed by homemade brownies. Jim and his pup were super friendly and kind. Falling asleep surrounded by woods is a peace like none other.

A very unique experience with everything needed to have an enjoyable time.
It was a very cute, clean, getaway spot! Jim was very nice host and we loved the tiny house. We had a fire made s’mores, played cards, and visited, exactly what we needed to start off our summer break!
This cabin is just as described! Tucked back in the beautiful woods of Alaska. Quiet and spacious. I was also greeted with freshly baked brownies on arrival. This is the perfect homestead and Alaska cabin experience!
If you want to stay off the beaten path in the woods, where are you wake up to the sounds of multiple songbirds this is the place for you. The cabin was sweet and clean, and the host were very accommodating and friendly. Two things would be nice to have a heads up for especially those of us that are aging, and that is the stairs/ladder to the loft could be a little challenging for some, and not everyone is keen on composting toilets. But overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend!

Described as is, we were ready for the type of stay. A small fridge would have been nice, but we luckily had a cooler and the ability to get ice. A little sitting/dining area would have been a bonus, but we made do with the card table!
We'd gladly stay again!
We really liked this off grid cabin! Super quick to heat up the place with the lil wood stove, very efficient. Cooking breakfast and making coffee was easy even in the small space, had everything you need! Water in shower never got hot but warm enough. Wifi didn't work but we didn't use it anyways. Very yummy complimentary brownies:) we felt very comfortable and enjoyed our stay. Cool location up in the trees about 25min drive from downtown talkeetna!

The bed bugs I have been suffering with the bites for 8 days. Trying not to let it ruin. Our vacation but have had to call the virtual Dr. To get a prescription for the constant itching.

There’s just not enough words that can describe this beautiful piece of peace. Jim and his wife were so kind. Brownies were left on the counter, cabin was warm, whole unit was clean, cozy and welcoming. The views were amazing and with all the land we spent an entire day snow shoeing and exploring. Was exactly what we needed to reset from the city and connect with nature again. 10/10 recommend to anyone wanting that true cabin feel with the luxury of running warm water! Will go back again and ask Jim about a tour around his homestead. :)
Pictures are deceiving. There is no privacy or seclusion. The owner lives about 50 feet away. There are no window coverings for privacy, & no fire pit. He let his dog run at us and our dog which was unnerving since we didn't know the dog or his temperament. His dog looked emaciated. He never controlled his dog during our conversation, allowing his dog to accost our dog and try to dominate our dog continually. My husband heard him say 'submit' several times during this interaction while smiling. When we finally said that was enough, his attempts to control his dog were cruel; dragging him by his front leg, tail, scruff and mouth until the dog yelped in pain each time. When he left to return to his cabin, he called the dog, and the dog listened. This let us know that he could have redirected his dog at any time but didn't. We came for peace and relaxation. After this interaction, our stress level went through the roof. We knew there would be no privacy or relaxation for us or our dog. We chose to leave immediately. We would not have rented this cabin knowing how close the owner was and there would be no privacy. The behavior of the owner and how he allowed his dog to behave have tainted our feelings about renting a cabin ever again.
A special place at the end of the road that gives you a taste of rural Alaska but is still close to the brewery, pizza, gas, etc and the road to Talkeetna. Owners were extremely personable and hospitable - even brought over fresh backed pie and cake. The cabin was clean and cozy and had all modern appliances.
Quiet, peaceful, very clean and efficient cabin. Wonderful hosts!
This is the most clean and efficient cabin! Cozy and peaceful. The bedroom even had blackout cellular shades! A peony flower was on the counter for us with dessert when we arrived, and the cabin was warm (on a rainy day) thanks to the woodstove. We took a long bike ride from the cabin and enjoyed "being off the grid". Thanks hosts! We truly appreciated our stay here.!
Second time we have stayed at Jim’s place, it’s a lovely place to getaway. Quiet, simple, with all the amenities one could need. Will be staying here again for sure!
Fantastic stay! Will definitely recommend to friends and family.
This property was awesome! Only there for about 15 hours but the tiny house was perfect for us (a young couple). Definitely wish we had had more time there to explore and sit outside more!! Jim was great to communicate with and the cabin had everything we needed, including berry pie! Nice hot shower and all the amenities. Great experience! Will be remembering this location the next time we come to Talkeetna.
This cabin was fun to stay in because it allowed me to have an off the grid feel, with no to little need of electricity or feel free to use the solar power with battery back up. The host homesteads the property and can help with any questions you might have. If your interested in experiencing an eco friendly homestead in Talkeetna, Alaska, this is a must see. If not for that, then stay a night for the best berry pie made from local picked fruit that grows on property! I recommend an all wheel or front wheel drive for the dirt road to access the property.
Had a great stay over the long weekend. The hosts were incredible and the pie was delicious. Looking forward to seeing the property in the summer when the garden is growing. Great stay!
We stayed at Susitna North and absolutely enjoyed our stay. The 3 feet of snow was perfectly plowed, the wood was so perfect and dry it started easier than the cardboard and the house was perfectly clean and appointed for anyone who enjoys being off the grid! My 18yr old daughter loved it. We were sad to leave. We also enjoyed meeting "Wing" the owner who left us an incredible wild berry cobbler. I look forward to returning for a longer stay. I booked this cabin in order to ski the Talkeetna, Oosik Classic. It was a perfect spot for me and my dogs! It was quiet, peaceful and comfortable. My hosts were attentive to my every need and there was pie on the counter for my arrival! I would recommend this place to travelers looking to get away from it all for a real Alaskan experience.
