Welcome to your new favorite Black Hills vacation home named Jug House Lookout. This truly unique cabin offers a one-of-a-kind experience near Terry Peak. The 4th floor tower has some amazing views of the surrounding hills and valley below! The covered hot tub offers a great spot to also take in the amazing view from the cabin and local wildlife. With very easy proximity to the Terry Peak Stewart Lodge, which is just down the road, you can be skiing to your heart’s desire in no time! The Mickelson trail and many other ATV/snowmobile trails are within 10 minutes away, and some ATV trails can even be accessed right from the subdivision. Spearfish Canyon with its great fishing/waterfalls/hiking is only a short 15 minutes away. Downtown Deadwood is also just a short 15-minute drive or taxi ride full of places to gamble, great restaurants, and many festivals throughout the year! Within an hour’s drive from the cabin you can also be enjoying Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, Keystone, Sylvan Lake or other central Black Hills attractions. Whether you've come to visit to enjoy an adventure filled getaway, a sight-seeing tour of the area, or a relaxing weekend enjoying the view from the tower, Jug House Lookout is surely going to make for a memory filled home-away-from-home.

Outside of the cabin you'll find a parking area for your vehicles/trailers, a single car garage, and 3 levels of patio/deck space great for taking in the view! The patio level has an 8-person hot tub, the second level deck has a gas grill, and the upper level tower deck includes a 360 degree walk around lookout and one of the best views of the area! The dark wood accented floors/ceilings make for an amazingly warm and comforting feeling as you kick your feet up by the gas fireplace or enjoy your company around the kitchen island. The open concept is great for entertaining as well. The lower level has another living area with sectional, TV and bedrooms. As you head upstairs towards the 4th level bedroom/tower, you reach the game room on the 3rd level that includes a DVD player with movies, boardgames, whiskey barrel game council with 49 games, and shuffleboard! The highest level and top of the tower, is the master bedroom with bathroom. The covered wrap-around deck goes all the way around the tower so you get a full 360-degree view of the surrounding landscape. There's also internet at the cabin using a Verizon hotspot and Dish satellite.

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Due to work demands our company has stayed in various rentals in the area over the past two years. In comparison to what we have experienced at other rentals we would not stay here again. For our business needs, the biggest drawbacks for us were a broken coffee maker and the WIFI or lack thereof. It never connected so we ended up hot spotting the entire time. Because we are generally working we tend to eat in quite a bit and amenities such as cooking accessories were lacking. Lastly, the general cleanliness of the place was not what we had come to expect. While not terrible, attention to details were missing, shower drains were backing up and it was sub-par to others we had stayed previously. Flies were a big issue. Overall, the house is interesting and easily accessible which was a plus.

Cold outside, warm inside

We stayed during one of the coldest winter storms on record. However, it was beautiful and warm inside with plenty of activities to do inside for the kids since skiing in -60 degree wind chills was no longer in the cards.

40th birthday celebration

We very much enjoyed the decks and view. Our timing was excellent to catch the fall colors. We appreciated the long and tall kitchen table to play games on. The property manager was great about communicating with us. The location was great although be aware taxi rides are pricey at least for our group of 6. We paid $60 one way although the taxi service was awesome about picking us up. The hot tub was not working when we initially arrived and unfortunately was not fixed until the afternoon after we got there. I appreciated the property manager responded promptly about this issue when I inquired. And when the gentleman arrived he helped us find a taxi service that was less expensive. More information on rides in visible places would be good. Thank you for a very memorable, comfortable weekend.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The morning after our arrival I emailed Budi stating that I was disappointed in the state of the home. The main floor tub wasn't draining, main floor bedroom bedding had multiple spots with "human stains", coffee pot still had old coffee in it and was dirty, two rugs on the main floor are trip hazards because the corners are curling up and the hot tub was not functioning and had pine needles floating in it. It really put a damper on our trip, we didn't even stay the third night.

Nice Cabin

We had a couple issues but contacted the management team and they were very helpful and very quick to respond. We had 4 families and there was plenty of room for all of us. The kids enjoyed the game room, actually even the adults did as well. I would advise that if you are looking for a secluded area, this is not it. This is a very developed area. The houses are a little too close on all 4 sides. Lots of partying at too close of neighbors. Overall, it was great place for us and we would rent again.

The view from the tower is beautiful

The people for booking were very nice to deal with. The view is beautiful from the tower, however there is alot of new construction going up around the house. One thing I would suggest to the owners would be blinds in the big windows....they face the road and other house so at dark people can see in very easily. Overall, it was very nice and we enjoyed our stay!

Great family fall getaway

The jug house had everything we needed for making meals, abundance of linens and towels, and room for all 5 of us to have space to ourselves. The hot tub was perfect for relaxing in the evening after long days of hiking and sightseeing. Kids loved the video games and shuffle board. Perfect for a family looking to getaway and unplug.

The main floor living area is a little small for us all to hang out together, but there are is space for everyone to spread out on different levels. The only complaint was from our kids. Just be prepared.

The location was great, space was more than adequate for our party of 12, and the decor was beautiful! The only reason I didn’t give it a full 5 stars was because it was not as clean as I would have anticipated. All of the coffee tables and baseboards had not been dusted and the kitchen countertops had sticky stuff left on them in places. Perhaps I have a different standards for cleanliness, but had that been better I would have given this 5 stars.

Having some extra blankets would be nice to cozy up with on the couches. I think we only ever found 1 blanket. We ran out of kitchen trash bags on the third day. We had 15 people at the cabin, however there is not enough seating in the kitchen and dining room for all of us to eat together. Would be nice to have a table/chairs on the patio. Kitchen sink faucet was leaky. Fridge did not chill well. Dishwasher did not get dishes clean. The cabin was clean, and other than lacking in blankets was stocked with all the necessities. Kids loved the shuffleboard and video game. Unique cabin with nice furnishings.

My Favorite Rental So Far

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have stayed at a number of different houses/cabins at Terry Peak. This is my favorite!! Rustic look but a very modern cabin fully equipped and very family friendly. Two of our favorite things was the third level game room - shuffleboard and Pac Man/Donkey Kong video games as well as a TV. This was a great place for grandkids to hang out. My favorite part of the house was the fourth floor master suite with a wrap around balcony, lots of windows, and an incredible view. Great to sit outside in the morning as the sun came up and watch the world come alive. There is also a smaller TV/living room area downstairs. Full size hot tub! We had a great stay and I would definitely rent this one again.

Smaller rooms than we anticipated but our kids loved the game room and the adults could not hear all the noise from the kitchen/living room! Very clean and well stocked! The view from the master bedroom is breath taking!
