We were very happy with this house! It was clean and in a great location if you’re wanting to stay around brevard or Hendersonville. The owners were very nice and professional.
Great place to stay.....the area is so peaceful. And, yet not far at all from downtown Hendersonville. Olivia gave a great recommendation for trail ride....meeting place was 5 minutes from the house.
Great place! Beautiful view. Only trouble was internet was not consistent. Could have to do with the weather. I would stay here again. The home is precious.
We had a great stay! The accommodations were perfect, comfortable, quiet, clean and close to everything we wanted to do in DuPont Forest. We boarded our horses at their stables and they were comfortable and safe too! We will come back and highly recommend. Olivia and Ryan are so kind and we appreciate their hospitality
Quiet setting and such a pretty cottage! I enjoyed watching all the horses across the street. The bed was super comfortable and hosts did such a great job using unique touches with this place. I will definitely return in the future!
Shoal Creek Cottage is like stepping back in time, but with modern conveniences. The cottage is comfortable, light and airy and beautifully decorated. We loved watching the horses from the front porch. Very convenient to DuPont and Holmes State Park and a scenic drive to town. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Really enjoyed our stay. Comfortable, updated, vintage farmhouse overlooking a working horse farm.
very close to hiking trails and waterfalls in the state parks.
We absolutely loved the house and it's furnishings. It was very comfortable and had the best views from every window. The grounds were exceptional and who doesn't love being surrounded by horses. You can hear the river off in the distance and really wish we had time to explore.Ryan and Olivia were wonderful and accommodating hosts. Would like to have met them in person but we were too crunched for time.Thank you Ryan and Olivia.. I hope to see you on my next trip to NC.
Best location for peace and quiet! Enjoyed morning coffee on front porch watching the horses. Located near Dupont state park, beautiful waterfalls. Cottage was excellent. Hope to stay there again.
Everyone in Hendersonville was extremely nice and pleasant, great food, great trails and beautiful waterfalls. The only thing I would have minimal complaint about is the low hot water pressure in the rental.
My daughter and I race downhill mountain bikes, and wherever we race we like to be as far from the event as possible. This location was perfect, far enough away to not be bothered by the chaos yet close enough to make the drive enjoyable. The drive to Hendersonville is only about 20 minutes. The best thing about this location, other than the lack of traffic and the location, is the working farm. The children enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching the horses and playing with the farm dogs. The owners are awesome as well. We are definitely going to stay here again next year.
The 1920’s farmhouse cottage is charming and a privilege to experience. The farm is beautiful, and every window in the cottage has an exceptional view. We arranged for our granddaughter to have a riding lesson during our visit, and we all appreciated viewing the horses in the the pasture across the street from the porch. Anyone who appreciates vintage charm in a farm setting would enjoy this location.
We wanted a beautiful stay in the country and that’s exactly what we got! Tranquility, beauty and relaxation, all while being close to the things we came to do: hiking, swimming in waterfalls, horseback riding. I highly recommend this beautifully updated 1920’s farmhouse nestled in the middle of a working horse farm. Where you can sit on the porch and eat your supper and listen to the horses neigh, have amazing sunset views, and watch the fire flies dance when the sun goes down. It was a little slice of heaven.
So we were going to cancel our trip because the Cradle of Forestry cancelled our tour to see the blue ghost fireflies. Thankfully Olivia was able to tell us some other places to look and we had a successful adventure! The house was awesome and so cute. My youngest really enjoyed seeing the horses across the street. As an added bonus, Brevard was having their White Squirrel Festival. We didn't think they were real until we saw one while driving down the road. What a cool weekend. Thanks!
Loved the doggies (Willard!), who greeted us upon arrival. Loved the serenity of the natural surroundings. The cottage is totally comfy and almost magical if you’re ok with a vintage vibe. Super private. The covered porch looking at the horses and mountains was like therapy (I lost my 30 yo thoroughbred the same week). The bathroom was really challenging but it wouldn’t deter us from booking again. It’s the perfect balance of unpretentiousness and charm! Short drives to Hendersonville and Brevard were fun. The hour drive to Greenville SC was totally worth it! Saw a black bear on the NC Arboretum trails. So much fun! The mountains and peace and quiet were healing to the soul. We took everything at a chill pace but packed a lot in.
The farmhouse was in the perfect location and very relaxing.Close to town, state parks and many trails. The views around the farmhouse were beautiful The house was well equipped with everything you needed. The bed was very comfortable. My favorite place was the front porch and the swing for morning coffee and in the evening having dinner, watching the sky go down.
Very quaint farmhouse, very clean with all the amenities. Just keep in mind this is an authentic 1920s home. Lower ceilings, claw foot tub/shower. It was perfect for my sister and I. Very close to DuPont hiking, Hendersonville and Flat Rock. We loved eating and playing games at the table on the front porch. Lovely view of the horses. I would highly recommend staying here and we hope to go back.
