Fly fishing trip

The cabin was excellent, the property still had storm damage which is understandable and expected. My grandson and I enjoyed a wonderful day of fishing with the nearby DB Bar D Outfitters just 5 minutes from cabin. The weather was excellent, the inside of the cabin is beautifully finished and our guide Mike all helped make a trip a memorable one. Our hearts go out to the people in this area of NC that have been through so much since Hurricane Helene.

This is a great place for small groups. It is in a good location, close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Asheville and Hendersonville. It is fun to have the ducks and chickens around the cabin.

Cabin in the Woods

The cabin was very peaceful and perfect for our stay. It was located within 20 minutes of almost any type of restaurant you could want, but the kitchen allows you to choose to stay in and cook, as well. It had all the things we needed and met our expectations.

Exactly as described!

My husband and I stayed here for one night in March 2025 as we were visiting our daughter and son-in-law in Mills River (no room at their cozy one bed apartment:)). The property is just as described in the listing - no surprises! Very clean. The main bedroom has a comfy queen bed, the other bedroom has bunk beds - these are appropriate for children or tiny adults:) Both rooms have good closet space. The kitchen has plenty of supplies, coffee maker with coffee and eggs in the frig from the on-site chickens! We enjoyed feeding them and no they don't wake you up at the crack of dawn:) There is a window unit and two large space heaters in the bedroom. The entry has a little rough terrain so as someone already mentioned it would be tricky for folks with mobility issues, but doable. The property owners (who are next door) were available but not intrusive, which we appreciate. You are a 3-5 minute drive to Ingles, etc. Definitely well-priced for the accommodations and the area.

Nice stay!

We had a nice time staying here while we were in town for a wedding. It was close to everything we needed. Grocery store is right down the street. Some good hiking trails not too far away. We had a few minor issues at the house (water pressure, drainage); contacted the host and they fixed it right away! The host was very responsive!

Great cabin in the woods.

Had an amazing stay here, inside is beautiful, all new with great woodwork, clean and well taken care of. Although there was nothing negative, I would recommend raising the upper bunk bed in the second room, there is very little space between those beds, very claustrophobic for anyone over 10 years old. Otherwise this is a great gem, and we look forward to visiting again!!!

Great weekend

Took my daughter for a Daddy daughter weekend and we had a blast. We went horseback riding in Pisgah and checked out Looking Glass Falls and Sliding rock. Sierra Nevada is only 10 minutes down the road and is an amazing place. Overall the unit is clean and well kept and served us well for our stay. Some improvements could be the mattresses/bedding and the AC unit.

The cabin was clean and quiet. There were spiders and various insects found in the cabin but that’s expected given the location. The owners were accommodating and the fresh eggs and water was a nice bonus. They had a nice playpen/ baby crib which was perfect for my newborn. My kids enjoyed playing with the chickens. This is a nice family cabin and I would definitely come back again.

Spotless rustic feel with modern conveniences

This property is an Amish built rustic style cabin that is absolutely flawless and clean as a whistle. The styling is just right, but all the modern conveniences are there. A nice blend. There are free range chickens and ducks on the property that will come visit and will safely and politely eat from your hands, a welcome treat for both you and the birds. At night it was comfortably dark and quiet. Excellent place to stay if you are visiting the Asheville area.

Cozy cabin with peaceful porch

I wanted a true cabin in a woodsy setting for a reunion of three long-time friends. The wood paneling and rocking chairs on the porch facing west suited us well. The chickens and ducks wandering through were a bonus, as were their fresh eggs in the fridge! We looked for hiking trails which had been mentioned but didn't find much and Mary confirmed that they are yet to be developed. The kitchen was adequate for our simple meals and the beds were comfortable. We were glad we had good weather and could go on outings as the place was too cozy for three to spend full days on the property.

This was an excellent place for my family of 3 adults and a 4 month old baby to share for a weekend. There was lots of room for us and all of the baby items as well. The kitchen was roomy and nicely equipped. The beds were very comfortable and a perfect front porch for rocking and watching wildlife. I counted 12 deer literally steps from the front porch 1 morning. The only complaint is that the rocking chair in the bunk room needs to be replaced because it’s very creaky and squeaky and therefore can’t be used to rock a baby to sleep. If we go back to the area, we’ll definitely stay here again!

A Lovely Quiet Cabin Retreat

Our host was warm and helpful. My husband and I met my 93-year-old mother and 2 of my sisters to spend quality family time in one of our favorite parts of the country. We loved the beautiful wood construction and the general peacefulness of the cabin. We all love animals. So a particular highlight for us was the bevy of chickens and droll trio of ducks that live on the property, happy to snap up any little leftovers offered to them. We enjoyed watching movies together as the hosts generously provide streaming services to guests. This is in no way a slam on the property - it’s simply meant to be helpful. My mother did have some trouble negotiating the cabin and its surroundings. But, for anyone who doesn’t have difficulties moving around, we would absolutely recommend this place.

Great location!

The location was great! Close to all activities we did and grocery store. The place is really cute inside. Just a couple suggestions. Bunk beds need new mattresses. The mattresses there now are bare metal springs pushing through the sheet top, literally zero padding and metal to chest. Luckily we found two heavy blankets to cover springs and used for some cushioning. Also the outside needs some TLC. The porch was not clean and had a couple dirty plates on the floor. Besides That we had a great stay.

Daughter’s 10th Birthday Celebration

We decided to go away for my daughter’s 10th Birthday since she couldn’t have a party with friends due to the coronavirus. We loved this place. The location is perfect. My girls enjoyed making s’mores by the fire pit. It was a short drive down to the stream, an ice cream shop, putt putt and gem mining which we enjoyed all of. The only recommendation I would make would be a few more comfy chairs for seating such as a couch or recliner. My girls just used their blow up loungers at night to lay on and watch TV on before bed so we worked it out. We would def consider staying here again. Very clean and the owners were always quick to respond with any questions we had. Great little place!

Good value for a budget stay.

My family of 5 and I chose this property for a quick last minute getaway. We didn’t want to spend much and just wanted something in a natural setting with a porch and fire pit, and it did check those boxes. We loved the ducks and chickens that visited daily, even while we were sitting out by the fire in the afternoon. We saw many deer as well. The cabin itself is lovely inside and very clean. It had everything we needed. The kids said their blankets were a little small and the top bunk railing does not go up over the mattress so it would not be appropriate for little kids. The ladder access to the loft is no longer there which didn’t really take away any value but the listing might be a little outdated. The outdoor space (aside from the porch) is very raw. My toddler couldn’t hold her footing around the yard. The chairs by the fire pit were nice and I loved the rustic bench but the fire pit itself was also very raw, made with cinderblocks. It was fully functional and we built multiple fires but not very pretty to look at. It was super nice that they provided some firewood, matches, roasting sticks, and even charcoal for the grill. Overall I really enjoyed the coziness of the cabin for a short trip and it was a good value. Super close to Sierra Nevada and the NC arboretum.
