Would absolutely recommend The Blackfin to anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the everyday! The cottage was a home away from home, perfectly positioned with hiking trails in all directions. Our hosts were extremely warm and accommodating, and we look forward to coming back in the future!

About the host

Hosted by Urve Manuel

Host profile image
I am an artist living here in Rocky Harbour, and enjoy showing off our beautiful region here on the 'Best Coast', Western Newfoundland.

Why they chose this property

The wild North Atlantic waters lap the shores of this property, some days the sea rages, others find the waters glossier than a sheet of glass. Spring brings herring, minkes, mackerel, and even diving gannets to the harbour, lobster-fishers move about daily on the waters, and the wilderness of woods and mountains are close to hand. Come explore and enjoy the beauty of Gros Morne!

What makes this property unique

The wonderful private deck overlooking the water leads to a fire pit with comfy chairs to relax in by the reef where low tide beckons the intrepid to explore the rocky shoreline. This is the perfect place to relax after a day's activities, or just to come and relax. Equipped with a full kitchen and laundry facilities, The Blackfin makes those parts of your journey easy. Rest up, settle in for a long sunset, or even a coffee with the sunrise, explore explore explore! Walk down the garden path to the soft shale beach, follow Uncle John's Channel out through the reefs with your paddleboard or kayak to enjoy an evening sunset paddle in the harbour. Walking distance to most places in town, or a short drive to trailheads and coastal adventures, The Blackfin is perfectly situated as your base in Gros Morne! Come and enjoy!
