About this property

Spacious 4 Season Cabin, Ski in Winter, Lake in Summer

New Owners of this Beautiful Cabin, Continuing the Bear Valley Tradition

**********
VISITING IN WINTER? PLEASE READ: Bear Valley is a special place in the winter - most roads are closed to cars and groomed for skiers and snowmobiles. This means you cannot drive directly to the cabin. The cabin is a 20 minute walk from parking (just over a 1/2 mile), mostly on groomed snow. There is a nice shortcut we call the "cut through"- that makes the walk much shorter - it is sometimes easy to navigate, but after a fresh snow, it may require snowshoes.

If you have never visited Bear Valley in winter, please count on hiring the local snowmobile taxi for your initial trip into the cabin and for when you leave. We will leave at least one pair of adult and one pair of kid snowshoes at the cabin for you to explore while you visit. Intermediate/advanced skiers can ski to the shuttle and back down to the cabin - sometimes it is necessary to carry your skis through the "cut through" or uphill a bit.

Feel free to check with the owner before booking. I'm happy to give you lots of additional info.

Summer and winter: the perfect spot for relaxation or a magical adventure
This roomy (1,700 square foot) chalet-style house is on a quiet cul-de-sac away from the main road. While it’s walking distance to Bear Lake and the Bear Valley village center in both summer and winter, the natural setting and surrounding trees make you feel like you’re out in the woods.
The House: Great sun and a spacious second-floor deck expand the great room making it perfect for entertaining, relaxing, or star-gazing. In addition to the great room upstairs, the home features a large family room downstairs perfect for kids to have their own space. Four bedrooms outfitted with King, queen and bunk beds, make it possible to sleep up to 12 comfortably. The large flat backyard is great for horseshoes and Bocci ball in summer and snowmen and snow forts in winter.
For a winter time adventure...
Central heating with a Nest® thermostat means the place is cozy and warm when you arrive. The two-story configuration puts your primary living space well above the winter snow in all but the snowiest years, so it’s bright and airy year-round. The covered entry and exterior lighting make it easy to get in – even with the deepest snow. The woodstove adds a cozy charm to the upstairs while the spacious mudroom and adjoining storage room keeps the clutter of skis, boots, or snowshoes tidy and organized. The cul de sac is the perfect spot for winter sledding and it's right out the front door!

For a summertime getaway...
Its summertime in Bear Valley & the living is easy! There are so many wonderful summer activities in our neck of the woods: Get your heart rate up with rock climbing, mountain biking, or cavern exploration; or take it easy with a trip to the vineyards & wineries around the valley. Hike to a swimming hole for a refreshing dip before you head to the Bear Valley music festival to dance and catch fireflies. Bear Valley Village is just short walk from the cabin, and the weather is perfect for a trip into town for ice-cream. Walk to. the nearby Bear Lake reservoir and utilize the provided rugged sit-on-top kayak and SUP (stand up paddle board) or travel a few miles to the larger Lake Alpine where you can rent watercraft for an hour or a day.

When sunset rolls around, enjoy drinks on the deck and catch a view of the milky way later in the evening. Enjoy using the large propane grill to prepare outdoor meals.
No matter the season, this home is the perfect sanctuary for you and your family to enjoy year-round.

I've dreamed about a cabin in the Sierra - that dream came true in Bear Valley. I live in the Bay Area with my family, two rascally dogs and two large cats. We come up to Bear Valley as often as we can. When we're there in winter, there's usually a pack of kids building snow forts and sledding. Beware of flying snowballs!
