About this property
Rustic retreat with panoramic views, tropical gardens, & biodynamic produce!
Pu'u O Hoku Ranch offers a unique getaway for travelers seeking a rustic retreat. You can hike, swim, stargaze, surf, and see a working ranch in action. Pu'u O Hoku is one of the few places in the islands where you can feel Hawaii as it once was. The Sunrise cottage is just a short drive from the black-sand beaches of Halawa Valley.
On the hill above the bustle of the ranch, surrounded by tropical gardens, with panoramic windows offering views over the bluffs to the ocean, the Sunrise Cottage is perfect for romantic getaways or small groups. Master bedroom with a queen bed, second bedroom with two twins, spacious living and dining room, fully-equipped kitchen, two bathrooms, and a shaded lanai.
The Sunrise cottage was built in the 1930s in a classic Hawaiian ranch style, furnished with Balinese and Hawaiian wood and textiles. The cottage is off the grid and runs on renewable energy, the water onsite is from our well.
We can also deliver fresh biodynamic and organic produce as well as fresh beef and venison to your cottage for you to cook during your stay!

About the host
Hosted by Pu'u O Hoku Office

Pu'u O Hoku Ranch is a family-owned biodynamic and organic ranch and farm, rustic retreat center, and sublime getaway on the remote and tranquil east end of Molokai, Hawaii. “Pu'u O Hoku” is true to its Hawaiian name — which means “Hill of Stars”— surrounded by more than 14,000 acres of protected land, immersed in the transcendent beauty of forest, sky and ocean.
Why they chose this property
Our most important work at Pu’u O Hoku is to restore the ‘aina (land in Hawaiian) of our beautiful ranch, from its green pastures that run up from coastal fishponds to Halawa Valley and the sea cliffs that tower above it. We are working on the reforestation of the ahupua’a (or watershed) and reducing the number of deer and pigs in our forest, as well as the sustainable cultivation of our arable lands in order to realize a bountiful land economy. We believe that Pu’u O Hoku, by preserving the fertile east end of Molokai, has a special role to play in bringing the island closer to a food and energy self-sufficient community that can provide for generations to come.
