About this property
Private Mountain Retreat near Hot Springs & Appalachian Trail
Unplug from the demands of daily life, reconnect with what you love, and find solace amid the natural beauty that surrounds us.
Our intimate cabin beckons those in need of rest and rejuvenation, nestled in a serene, rural area of western North Carolina. Only 30 mins. from Hot Springs and a mere 50 mins. from the creative city of Asheville, this haven is perfect for personal retreats, intimate getaways, and cherished moments with the kids. Pets are warmly welcomed. www.goodmorningappalachia.com
The Space:
This mountain retreat space is ideal for those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The cabin is old but has been updated with modern appliances and creature comforts, including a Sunlighten Infrared Sauna.
One bedroom is equipped with a queen size bed, while the second bedroom has 2 twins You can hear the sound of the rushing creek from both bedrooms.
The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking and baking. There is an oven, microwave, coffee maker and a mid-size refrigerator. There is no dishwasher. Consumables such as condiments or snacks may be left behind by previous guests if they are not empty. We try our very best to ensure that it is not expired or stale. Although, it is up to our guests' discretion and inspection to consume these items if they wish. We do not take responsibility for consumables.
We have a growing collection of board games, puzzles and books for you to enjoy.
The cabin has high speed fiber-optic internet, so you can still getaway and remain connected. The TV is set up with Netflix, Hulu and Disney Plus. You can also access Youtube from it.
Enjoy time outdoors by the relaxing near the babbling brook, sunbathing near the pond, roasting marshmallows by the fire pit or meandering the trails along the property. The plant life is extremely diverse and you will most likely see deer and other woodland creatures.
The cabin is close to hiking, skiing, rafting, fishing, The Appalachian Trail and more outdoor activities. Enjoy a scenic 25 - 30 minute drive to the Laurel River Store for the nearest coffee, or for dinner in downtown Hot Springs. If you are willing to take a drive there are many things to do! It's an easy, peaceful drive with low traffic to the city of Asheville, NC. (about 50 minutes)
Guest Access:
While you are our guest the entire cabin and it's contents are yours to use. There is heat and air; however, if you want to use the wood stove to make the place extra cozy there will be wood to burn. We do ask that if you need a little lesson on how to use the wood stove, please don't hesitate to ask - a few tips can go a long way. There are a few maintained trails around the property for you to roam the woods and a small waterfall near the pond at the back of the property.
Other things to note:
Lots of flora and fauna so if you don't like bugs this may not be the place for you.
It is very important to note that there is very limited cell phone once you turn off the main roads. Please have directions printed.
Also, VERY IMPORTANT: You will need a car to get to this location and get around the area. The nearest full grocery store is 30 minutes away.

About the host
Hosted by Joshua Niven
Hey there! We are Amber & Josh Niven, two love birds who met on the Appalachian Trail. We are artists, outdoor enthusiasts and authors of Discovering the Appalachian Trail. We have a deep reverence and passion for the region we live in and enjoy sharing it with others.
When we aren't hiking, hosting, or making art you can find us in Hot Springs, having a beer at Big Pillow Brewing or eating dinner in downtown Marshall with our two kiddos, River Axel and Indie Oaks.

Why they chose this property
We named our property Camp Happy Mundo after our two pets - Happy the cat and Mundo the Dog.
Private, but not too remote. Perfect mountain getaway with loved ones or solo retreat to make art and connect with nature.
