Corru Gate: Sunny, private, architecturally-designed, quiet, children-friendly cottage - 3 bdrm Corru Gate features a distinctly 'arty' NZ flavour on 7 acres of grounds with sea and mountain views. Corru Gate is stylish, modern and different - city chic meets country style. Set 4 minutes from Mapua seaside village, Corru Gate has a real NZ flavour - stained board and batten, and corrugated iron. Barn red detailing, sunny colours, flax, ferns and koru add to the kiwi styling.

Corru Gate is built with sustainability principles. We value our natural environment (open spaces, birds and native trees). We have organic orchards – grab a lemon for your G and T on the deck, or enjoy a delicious breakfast grapefruit. Children are welcome – it is fenced and there is a playground, treehut, chickens, tame sheep, and SPACE. Babysitter list too!

This is a fantastic property for those travelling with small children - so much to see and do on the property, but also very drive to great cafes, orchards, galleries, beaches and vineyards. A bike with trailer supplied by the accommodation was another great way to explore the area with young children.

A perfect stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our 10 days at Corru Gate. The cottage was lovely - everything as shown and described on line. The location was accessible to activities of interest in the area, but tucked away just enough to be peaceful - and great stargazing!

Quaint, warm, cozy stay…. With pet sheep!

We had to “suddenly” book a stay in Mapua & were delighted to find “Corru Gate!” Adele and Roger were fabulous hosts, easy to communicate with. They have “pet sheep” and leave sheep treats (sheep nuts) for you to feed the sheep. The location was just outside Mapua with easy access to the wharf. Beds were delightfully comfy, and the antique stove to warm the place was fabulous!

Enjoyed staying at Copper Gate.

Enjoyed staying at Copper Gate. Very clean spacious house. Beautiful view too. Lots of essentials provided. Even had toys for our children to play with. Had meals outside on a beautiful deck. A little orchard with apple trees in the back, large citrus area too. Feeding sheep was the highlight of our stay. Lots of fun. The whole property was very interesting with several good options of accommodations. Even glamping (glamorous camping) site, which was very charming. Thank you Roger and Adele!

We really enjoyed the characterfulness of Corru Gate, the fun of the farm, and the facilities.

We really enjoyed the characterfulness of Corru Gate, the fun of the farm, and the facilities. The location was ideal for us, nice and quiet and well off the road, close enough to Mapua to get there easily for dinner, supplies etc and for the whole family to cycle back and forth.

The property was GREAT !

The property was GREAT ! The wood fire was a hooper addition to the cottage and as the weather was not great kept us all warm and snug. The property was in a very good location and anyone visiting must go down to the Apple Shack for a great view and incredible food. The owners were attentive to our needs and made us very welcome. The facilities were clean and very comfortable, the kids loved the treehouse style upstairs bed. I would highly recumbent this property and the others they have.

We had a very enjoyable stay in a great central location.

We had a very enjoyable stay in a great central location. It made visiting both Nelson, Kaiteriteri and everything inbetween easy day trips. This included some lovely beaches and Richmond pool not too far for an indoor splash about. There was a lot of good exploring for the children and having a trampoline and playground on site gave them a bit of freedom, within hearing distance of the house. The accomodation provided everything we needed. Would not hesitate to recomend to friends and family.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Corru Gate. We found the cottage very well kitted out with everything we needed in the kitchen, and entertainment wise. Great playground & variety of toys for little ones. Guests staying on the mezzanine level found it most comfortable. Rabbit Island is a must for young families. Fish & Chips from The Smoke House in Mapua, were best we'd ever tasted, & complimented by Corru Gate lemons! Thanks for a great stay - we'd recommend you to others without hesitation.

We wanted a lifestyle that blended country living with access to the city, national parks and cafes, artisans, wineries, cycling. Our wee seaside village of Mapua provides an opportunity to be part of a vibrant community.

What makes this property unique

Lovely farmlet with tame sheep, chickens and places to explore. Rural, sea, mountain views from farm. Perfect location midway between Nelson and Kaiteriteri/Abel Tasman National Park. Located right on the Great Taste Trail. Rural yet just 4 minutes from wonderful coffee, Nelson's best restaurants on the Mapua Wharf, artisans, beaches, walks.
