The Bach is only 5 -10 minutes walk to Mangonui village where you can catch a kingy from the wharf, and if they aren't biting, the World Famous Fish and Chip Shop will provide dinner. There's also a great selection of cafes after your day at one of the many magnificent beaches in Doubtless Bay. The bach is equipped with an electric stove, pot belly stove, fridge/freezer, auto washer and two canoes. A recent comment from our visitors book sums up their experience - 'A slice of heaven'. To view more comments from the Visitors book and some updated photos, check our Facebook page SettlersDream. Also available for use are kayaks and waveski. The Karikari peninsular has some of the best wind and kite surfing in the country but don't tell too many or it will end up crowded like Shippies with the surf. Choice of two coasts to surf with Ahipara is 40 minutes drive and Taupo Bay 25mins. Doubtless Bay is great for fishing and the launching ramp is one of the best in the north and so close.
NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave; Bring your own linen (towels/sheets/tea towels);

We loved our stay, even happy to sit out a storm for a couple if days! The best view and we were very comfortable. Everything was there, had netflix, books, games etc for the inside days. Shops and restaurants a 5 minute walk. Note to others, the second bedroom has bunks plus single bed, not the double bed listed, however didnt worry us. Thanks!
This bach is perfectly located for a Doubtless Bay holiday. It is an old-style bach, well appointed for a relaxing holiday. We loved every second of our stay.
A lovely, tranquil spot with lots of visiting tuis in the trees around the property and an amazing view of the water.
Some great bush walks a stones throw away and a short walk to get dinner or coffee. Great swimming nearby at Cable Bay. Also a good bach for our dogs with the outside shower and the bach not getting too hot during the day.
We had a lovely stay here at this quintessential kiwi Bach.
The location was fantastic to explore the surrounding areas.
Loved the view of the harbour from the deck.
Just a short walk to the famous fish and chip shop!
Would love to come back again.
Thank you!
All went well with booking and arrival. Cute, rustic beauty. Short scenic walk to the village. Thanks for allowing me to have my dogs too. We would rent again.

Thanks for leaving the place so clean and for doing the washing. Much appreciated.
This property suited our needs. Liked the location and very casual and comfortable. We did have bit of a hard time finding it as no house number. Some people may be put off by outside toilet. We would stay there again.
Stayed with my mum (78 yrs old) and we both really loved it, what a fabulous place. Tidy, super close to the the village, and yet calm and quite. Only improvement would have been to know that the toilet is somewhat external, requiring some steps at night, which may be of interest to some.
Great place to stay on our trip to the far north. Really good location, just a short walk to the famous Mangonui F&C shop. Great view over Mill Bay. I would recommend this Bach to friends and family and would definitely stay again
We had a lovely time at Settler’s Dream Bach. It had everything we needed and the location was perfect, views fantastic and you can’t help but feel relaxed sitting out on the deck in the sun watching the kotare fly around.
Whilst we all love shiny new things, it isn't often these days, that you get to stay in a real bach. Where the crockery doesn't match, where you wash your dishes by hand but where you feel that you are a part of the history of a really special property. We loved it here!
The property was a great little batch with heaps of character and art about the place. Great deck overlooking the water where you can go kayaking as well.
Lovely outlook, comfortable bed, everything you need.
Enjoyed staying here. Close to all beaches and to Mangonui village. We were allowed our dog which was great but no closed in area for her.

We don't advertise that there is a fenced off area so if that is what you need for your dog, you should ask.
There are 2 covered areas outside and plenty of rope available.
We don't ask for extra for dogs as some do, but we do have an expectation that dog droppings are collected and disposed of suitably.
Thanks for staying at ours.
