About this property
Wilson bay farm, Pelorus Sound<br>A 5th generational historical family farm
WE ARE BOAT ACESS ONLY. MINIMUM STAY THREE NIGHTS
We would love to invite you to our 5th generational farm. We have 640 hectares for you to explore. (Farming Romney sheep). Farmer Trev milks the cow every morning, and we are pretty much self- sufficient. Kelly loves to show people around and talk about the Foote family history and is pretty proud of her flower and vegetable garden. (The house has its own sectioned off garden).
Although we are boat access, it is only 45 minutes by boat to Havelock.( unless you decide to kayak out!) We also live on the farm and own our own boat. We have limited spark cell phone coverage. The house is alternative power, cooking facilities are gas, and a newly installed solar power system.
The available house overlooks the sea, it's hard to do your dishes while gazing out the kitchen window. There is a short walk up a path from the wharf to the house, but don't worry you won't have to carry your luggage. We will be there to meet you and transport your luggage up the hill.
Do you love bird spotting? you won't be disappointed! Te Rawa lodge (bar and restaurant) is an easy ten-minute walk away. There are kayaks available for you to paddle over for your morning coffee. Do some dolphin spotting from the wharf, we have even had the occasional orca stop by. Swimming and fishing is permitted off the wharf, (children must be supervised). Feel free to join with activities on the farm, or just relax and keep to yourself, the choice is yours. You could join Kelly on a walk to the top of the hill, (that will get your heart pumping) or help Trev milk the cows. We also run our own pest control programme, to eradicate possums, rats, stoats etc... to protect our beautiful native environment. Our farm walk does a complete circuit around the property, which is a large peninsular. (SOME PARTS CLOSED DUE TO RECENT FLOODING). you can go for a short walk to check out the glow worms. We have unlimited internet available. (90% reliable) Access to the most beautiful scenery in the Pelorus, with views stretching from the back of Blenheim to the North Island. It takes a certain degree of fitness to climb the hills, but the view is worth it. If you don't have your own boat the Pelorus mailboat runs on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in summer (pre booking recommended) or you can book a water taxi out to us. The water taxis leave from Havelock and can be found on the internet. (Please contact us if you have any questions regarding water taxis). Or catch the float plane from Wellington straight to our bay! Special conditions: Smoking allowed outside only. No parties No dogs under any circumstances.
We have a low usage solar powered system, please don't sneak out high usage appliances, as it cannot handle the draw.
Extras: Cleaning (included); Linen (included)

We had a wonderful 6 night stay at Wilson Bay. Kelly and Trev were welcoming and very generous. The house was clean and cosy, worked well for our family of 5. The kids loved swimming in the sheltered bay, fishing off the jetty and walking round to the nearby lodge for hot chocolate. Thanks for our stay!!
Our family of 5 stayed at Trevor and Kelly's Farm recently. We had a great time. The house was cosy, the views & scenery amazing and we were lucky enough to sample some of the outdoor options that the area is known for. Overall, a great accommodation option in an awesome spot.
The most amazing, isolated spot for a break away with boat only access. Great location for access to fishing grounds and perfect little 10 minute bush walk to barista coffee, drinks or a meal. Super friendly host Kellie who made the stay most enjoyable on their farm, with access to farm tracks for walks and plenty of boating in the sounds.
Kelly and Trevor were exceptional hosts, in their little piece of paradise. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome, including: fresh mussels, baked goods and a ride in their boat. We would love to return, thank you...
Absolutely fabulous get away in the Sounds. Accommodation exactly what our group needed. Hosts were super friendly. Great value for money. Our group of 20 adults are looking forward to returning either as the group or individually with their families.

Thanks for the visit, we enjoyed having you all to stay. This group was friendly, tidy and fun.
They are welcome back anytime.
An amazing venue with great facilities and lovely hosts. The power times were amazing and really allowed you to slow down and enjoy the vacation. We will be back!
Kelly and Trevor are absolutely fantastic, as was our entire stay. The house is spacious, well equipped, and comfortable with excellent views. It really feels like home.We really enjoyed getting out for walks, fishing, diving, and just generally spending time there. There's a lodge a short walk down the bay if you want to go out as well. Good wifi, a pool table, books, and magazines in the house for evenings, and lots to do.It is truly unique and well worth visiting.

We aim to please, and really enjoy meeting a variety of people from all walks of life!
We look forward to seeing you again sometime.
We loved staying at this Lockwood Bach and experiencing life in the Sounds. Trevor and Kelly were very welcoming and helpful. The house was super-clean and had everything we needed. We went on several half day walks, had successful fishing trips, and swam in the bay. A fabulous place to get away from everyday life!

Thanks for your review Sarah, we’re happy that you enjoyed your stay with us!
A wonderful stay for our family consisting of 3 couples. Loved the boat-access only location and the fact that it is central to all of the Pelorus Sound. Great walking options and even a resort bar/restaurant 10 mins walk away. Very private and quiet. Particularly loved the view from the house, the log burner in the evenings and, most of all, the pool table! That was a huge source of fun for us all. Interesting to be on a working farm - a great Kiwi experience all around. Highly recommend this charming spot. Thanks Kelly and Trevor for everything!

Thanks for the great review, we hope to see you again one day!
Kelly and Trevor made our week absolutely perfect, starting from the boat pick-up in Elie Bay, to the buckets of fresh mussels, to the use of the boat to do some fishing (lots of blue cod - delicious!) to the great chats we had. Cannot recommend this "home from home" too highly.
Also finally got to teach the kids to play pool properly!
And having Te Rawa resort a short walk away meant great options for drinks, or meals if we didn't feel like cooking.
We'll be back!!

excellent cottage
We spent a very pleasant 5 days in Wilsons Bay in April. The house is comfortable and warm with a great view, and the hosts are very helpful and friendly. There are great 2 to 3+ hour walks on the door step, over to Miro Bay or around the peninsula, partly on the farm or in the bush.
If you are cooking for yourself, you will need to bring even the basics eg oil teabags etc. 5 minutes walk away is Te Rawa Lodge where you can eat, except in winter, too.
The working farm aspect of it is another great dimension.
The morning and night time generator power hours are all you need, but if the weather is bad there is not really enough light inside by day to read, for example.
A good head torch is a must.of course.
Wonderful spot - highly recommend.

The lighting was an issue unfortunately because we had an unusual dry spell, which meant our hydro lighting was not up and running. After the latest lot of rain it is now working again.
Thanks very much to our hosts, we stayed for 3 nights to take in some of the incredible scenery and fishing that Pelorus sound has to offer. The property was perfect, and the hospitality friendly and relaxed. We're looking forward to coming again in the future.
