We had the best weekend here. Exactly what we needed, a beautiful and relaxing few days. We’ve decided to make it an annual getaway so will be booking again soon. Thank you!
Great stay the weather was perfect , and the Bach is a Bach which was great ,right on the waters edge close to walks and boat ramp
we thoroughly enjoyed our stay
The property is just as the owners describe, a treasured family bach with an enchanting story, passed through the ages. A perfect escape, spectacular views over the water, beautiful bush, all at the doorstep.
We areived late around 7pm and left by 6am the next day for the ferry. It was perfect for what we needed and very quiet and relaxing.A pity we couldn't stay and get a real chance at taking advantage of the propertys location which was stunning.
Had a great relaxing stay the week before Easter with some lovely mild weather in the Bay.
Bach was perfect for our family of 5 and was great being able to bring our fur baby too.
Had everything we needed with a great layout. Beautiful view with morning coffee in bed! Lovely swimming a short walk down to the foreshore and great fishing for the kids off the jetty too - my daughter caught a good sized gurnard! Loved the pukeko family right outside. Overall a wonderful, peaceful stay - will be back soon!
Absolutely loved our week long stay, classic kiwi bach in absolutely stunning location. The views alone offer so much tranquil; easy access to walking tracks and beach. We traveled with dog, it’s very pet friendly accommodation, large garden with trees for shade on a hot day, though not fully fenced. But still perfect place for those travelling with dog. Short drive to Picton, Blenheim, or Havelock North. Highly recommend.
This was a lovely spot to stay, especially coming off the ferry after a late crossing. We hope to return for longer! Lovely sense of family history in the shade. The only issue we had was the mains power was unexpectedly off when we arrived so had to hunt out the switch. It wasn't really a problem, but just a surprise. Thanks!

Everything you need for a relaxing break.
We were very impressed with the Bach. It had a new kitchen area and the rest of the house was very tidy. The house was airy and sunny, no dampness, with a lovely fire that kept us toasty in the cooler evenings.
We were surprised how well equipped it was, with everything you could possible need.
The position was great with amazing views of the bay.
We enjoyed our stay so much that I would like to retire there, however, I think it may be difficult to procure a house in such a lovely and popular bay
What a perfect wee slice to get away from the madness for a while. Great location, sweet bach. Cozy up by the rustic log-burner and connect with each other and yourself! Can’t wait to go back.
Ps. If you can’t be bothered cooking, I can recommend the Queen Charlotte Tavern about 15 minutes up the road. A little country pub has no business putting out food that good! Recommended!
It had great views and it was a well set up classic kiwi bach. The annex however was not suitable for either of our young children to sleep in which was a surprise when we arrived. The annex was further away from the house than expected and very dusty and dirty. The previous occupants had also not cleaned after their stay which meant we had to clean the kitchen and floors on arrival. Overall it was a nice stay in a great location.
Good aspects: the view from the big window at the front.
The great children's books.
The nice warm fire.
The pet friendly nature of the house.
The lovely hosts and their excellent communication.
Also some things that could be improved:
The queen bed was too soft and needs replacement. I had to sleep one of the single beds
The hot water pressure was very low and the temperature was to hot.
Thanks to the hosts
And I would definitely stay again.

3 night stay
the property is in a lovely spot with a beautiful view and access to the water - this was its main appeal 😁
The property is fairly close to Picton so access to shopping is fine
It is obviously a much loved family Bach, owned by the same family for many years.
I wasn't expecting 5 star accomodation - but everything is very tired looking and could do with a spruce up.😢
Main problem for us was level of cleanliness. Guests are asked to clean when they leave, but people have different standards and for me it needed a good spring clean. It would be better to charge more and have a proper cleaner 😊

What a Beautiful Location
Initially on walking in, we thought what a mess bread crumbs/food everywhere on the side, floor and table, empty beer bottle lids left on the floor and sofa. The fridge and freezer were left in a mess and the freezer door was shut and smelly. Once cleaned up, we enjoyed our stay. Fabulous location. We wouldn’t use the outside shower unit as the floor has gone a bit and seemed dangerous. The Bach was basic but we loved it. We would definitely come back. The view was one of the best we’ve had on our holidays around NZ. Enjoyed walking, cycling, fishing, swimming and watching the stingray swimming around by the quay.

We love to read about everyone’s holiday when we come up. It is really cool to be able to share this place with so many other people. Mum and Dad bought this place in the early 70s. We had been coming up here to stay since the early 60s. They paid just $3000 for it then. Hard to believe now. There is a picture up on the dresser in the lounge which shows what the original cottage looked like. It was a couple of army huts. The main one had a coal range in it and that is what we did our cooking on. I have memories of cooking our toast on a toasting fork up against the fire on the coal range. In the mid 70s Mum and Dad had the main Cottage built. Mum and Dad have since passed on and it is our privilege to carry on their legacy and preserve the Cottage for future generations. Each new generation gets taught how to fish, how to row and drive the boat, and of course how to jump off the jetty in the summer.
