About this property

Families and Pets- Broadford at Tara Bay

A holiday home suitable for up to 2 families. Broadford at Tara Bay can cater for up to 9 guests with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. This property features a north facing deck with stunning views over the bay. This easy to get to property (either by road or boat from Havelock) is over looking the Kenepuru Sound. Close to Portage and Te Mahia Resorts and the Queen Charlotte Track. Drive directly to the door- sheltered, easy unpacking with plenty of room for parking vehicles. The easy sealed road from Nelson or Blenheim is approximately 1 ½ hours travel from either.

The place is well fitted out with electrical appliances, including an oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, dishwasher, washing machine and drier. There is also a barbecue on the deck available for use. Full Vodafone and Spark cell phone coverage- no wifi.
Duvets and pillows are provided and there is a mattress protector on each of the beds, although guests do need to bring their own sheets and towels.

Activities:
This location is ideal for swimming, snapper fishing, water sports, or simply lying on the sunny and sheltered north facing beach.
The Queen Charlotte Track offers access to many other bays and there are several shorter walks off the main track. The Te Mahia to Anakiwa section is open to mountain biking year round.
Fishing can be experienced from the rocks or floating wharf. The boat mooring accommodates boats up to 11m and up to 3 tonne.
There are 2 kayaks, a dinghy, life jackets, and boogy boards available
A television plus a DVD player is available plus a range of board games and books.
Portage Hotel, just 15 minutes drive away has a bar and restaurant and boat ramp, Te Mahia- 10 minutes drive is a great place for coffee.

NOTE
Under kiwi bach tradition you are expected to clean all areas and do the dishes before you leave and bring your own linen.

Perfect spot in Keneperu

We all loved our stay at Broadford, Tara Bay. A very comfortable batch that had everything we needed. Great paddle boarding, swimming, fishing trips. We had a very happy week in a perfect spot.

A beautiful getaway

We loved our 3 nights in this lovely house in an amazing location. It had everything we needed to relax after our 4 days of tramping in the nelson lakes. We even caught 3 snapper!Thank you, Rosie.

A lovely weekend away with friends

The location is perfect and the space is efficient and spacious enough for 6 adults. We had a wonderful time here. The beach is so close, the surrounding bush is so welcoming. The deck has incredible views and there is ample parking. We would be keen to stay again!

Bach with a View

Firstly, the bach is perfect for a family and friends. Walking down to the peer or a 10 minute drive to Portage are just a snap shot of outdoor ideas. Kayaks and lifejackets provide wasan added bonus. We left the place as we found it.

Excellent spot for relaxation, walking, mountain biking, water sports and fishing. Rosie was excellent to deal with and we had no issues with property and location. Only issue we had was the weather! unfortunately rained for the majority of the time - forced down time and games. Caught a couple of fish off wharf and got out tramping and mountain biking. my daughter got engaged at 7am one of the mornings on the beach it was spectacular sun rise and very special. Thank you :)

Peaceful, beautiful Bach

We’ve stayed here before and our time recently did not disappoint. Gorgeous location - nothing like sitting on the deck and looking at that view! We were 6 adults celebrating a 53rd wedding anniversary and a 2nd wedding anniversary. We had a ball! Great beach and we got to have our 4 doggies with us! Recommend to everyone. The only thing that gave us all anxiety was the road TO the Bach. It is quite bad (to say the least!) but that’s not the owners fault. If you want to escape the rat race this is the perfect place.

Pre Easter 2025 -80th birthday family get together

Wonderful facilities, Good design, Incredible views and equipment and close to Queen Charlotte track. Good having the dinghy and kayak- many thanksOnly negative was the matresses too soft especially in south east room.- but also north east going that way. The dvd player didnt seem to work but not important.

Lovely experience

Perfect place for a weekend getaway. Right by the sea and Pet friendly making it the ideal spot. Located on steep terrain. So ability to walk up a steep hill from the sea is needed.Rosie is super helpful and friendly.

The house was nice with amazing views. The downside that reflects the review above is the fact that the outboard of the dinghy wasn’t provided. It was shown on the photos and there was no mention in the description that the outboard wasn’t provided. It was one of the reasons why I booked this house as I wanted to fish around the farms. I would suggest maybe a note in the description that the outboard motor isn’t provided.Loved the fact that pets are allowed so would definitely keep you on my go to list for any future holidays with doggo instead of leaving him at home.

We loved our stay yet again in the beautiful Tara Bay. The house was so clean and tidy on arrival and the beds so comfy. We were impressed with the new retaining walls, water pump and wifi! The views from the deck are outstanding and so peaceful, we all got lots of entertainment from the birdlife and plenty of beach and jetty action. Thanks for sharing your place with us!

Great stay at Rosie’s.Everything you need for an enjoyable trip. The road down the hill is blown out pretty bad below the property so there’s no chance of launching a boat atm next to the property. The wharf was great for snapper fishing out the front with several caught.

Fantastic property felt incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to stay. Tranquil Tara Bay

We had a lovely long weekend in Tara Bay. The Broadfords bach is a very comfortable place to stay with everything you could possibly want. The beach is a short walk down the hill and the views from the bach out into Kenepuru Sound are incredible. We would definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone wanting a comfortable home away from home experience.
