About this property
Bethen's Retreat - The perfect place in Penzance
You are invited to experience our little slice of heaven in Tennyson inlet at Penzance Bay located just 90 minutes drive from either Nelson or Blenheim.
A modern two storey house with stunning panoramic views, its the perfect spot for relaxing and watching the world go by. There's drive-on access to the property with off-road parking for multiple vehicles or boat plus extra public parking straight across the road or at the launching ramp less than 50 meters away from the gate.
The house is a much loved modern kiwi bach built in '05-'06. It has 3 bedrooms ( Queen bed + en suite, Queen bed and twin king singles). In addition to the en suite there is separate shower, toilet and bathroom with spa bath. In the lounge there's a gas fire, big screen TV with freeview and DVD player plus some books/magazines and games in the cupboard to keep everyone entertained.
The property is private and surrounded by native bush and trees. It is fully fenced so safe for the kids and has beautiful views from the deck, living area, kitchen and master bedroom. There is also a hose supplied for washing the boat and a filleting table with sink to prepare your catch.
If you want to get out and about then how about a walk or bike along the Archer track to Elaine bay or a gentle stroll to the Betty Archer Recreation Reserve just along the short pathway which passes right in front of the house.
If that doesn't interest you then get out on the water for some great fishing in the Marlborough Sounds or just explore some of the many bays. Don't have a boat? Then fish off the large public wharf or jump in for a swim out to the pontoon.
Please note there is very limited to no mobile phone reception in the bay and no internet. You will be required to supply your own drinking water or boil water before drinking. All water heating/cooking is LPG. Gas will be supplied.

Wonderful place to spend a week with family! Very warm house overlooking the water. despite the unusually rainy weather, there were plenty of things to do. Kids were catching kahawai off the jetty, endless blue cod fishing and nice walks through the native bush. Will be back!
Wonderful location, offers a variety of land and water based activities, comfortable house with easy beach access. Tranquil and relaxing. Plenty to do even if the weather isn’t summery.
Lovely position looking out from the deck over the inlet and wharf. Clean and tidy and very functional house. Close to a super walking track. Loved our stay.
We had the Wow factor the moment we walked in the door. What a great home to stay in. We could not fault anything, the cleaner does a wonderful job in keeping the place so clean, thank you, Daphne & family from Australia.
Sometimes it all works out. A beautifully kept property in a beautiful spot w a great view. Friendly locals, world class bush walk / run, incredible night sky, bio-luminescence in the water, wonderful bird song and plenty of boat ramp action.
