Our hosts were wonderful as was the location. Accommodation was clean and comfortable and Jan and Geoff provided beautiful hospitality and relevant information at a great price.
Lovely accommodation within easy walking distance to Russell. Breakfast and other provisions were greatly appreciated. Geoff and Jane were very helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Jane looked after us so much more than we expected. She went out of her way to allow us to have a great holiday. We have stayed at times in the past and she can always be relied on. The Homestay comes highly recommended by us.
This unit is an excellent place to stay in Russell. Well laid out studio unit with separate bedroom, kitchen facilities, lounge, and bathroom. Close walking distance to the Russell CBD, peaceful tropical surroundings and charming hosts
Short stay very close to Russell; friendly welcome from Geoff and Jane, very helpful hosts, easy access to apartment below the main house. Comfortable, well - equipped place. Thank you!
Within walking distance to the beach och amenities.
The only downfall was that there wasn't a washing machine for laundry.

Kia ora Debra, we normally offer guests use of our washing machine. As you know, we were away on holiday during your stay which is why we couldn't do this when you were here. I added details of the public laundrette on the welcome pack for you. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your visit.
Ideal location as it was quiet and just a pleasant short walk to the shops. Jane and Geoff and Miri were very welcoming. On arrival they gave us some lovely grapefruit marmalade for our morning toast. The unit had everything we needed.

Diedre and Jonathan were great guests to host. Friendly and a pleasure to chat with. They left the flat spotless which was greatly appreciated. Thoroughly recommended.
A cute wee flat with everything you need. Jane gave us clear instructions on how to find it and very kindly supplied milk, bread, butter and homemade jam as well as fresh bananas from her own tree on the property.
Everything was very clean and the bed was warm and comfortable. Jane was super friendly and helpful with information about things to see and do. It was a lovely introduction to Russell.
Location was great, overall view of property was ok,property was as you would expect with a property that is about 25 years old and could do with a bit of R&M. A couple of issues we found for us as older people was the limited parking we had to park up against the garden which made getting in and out of a vehicle difficult as well as getting up the stairs to the unit with our luggage because of where we had to park, another issues was no lighting from where we parked to the unit up concrete stairs in the dark, lucky I had a torch in the car. apart from that our stay was ok.

Home Away from Home
What a great find. This homey apartment is far more spacious than I expected and contained everything I needed and more. The pantry has staples, the kitchen has equipment, there are fluffy bath towels, a spacious bathroom (with water pressure!), good quality linen and a comfy bed.
The location is great and the village is so close you can walk home with coffee and food and it will still be hot ( or cold) and no concerns with spending time at the Duke and drinking driving. The beach is also only a short walk away.
The hosts, Jane and Geoff, were accommodating without ever intruding. They shared their deck, wine and local knowledge and even dispatched me with a jar of Janes plum chutney.
This apartment is excellent value for money and the hosts helped make a great holiday even better. Great for a weekend break but would also be ideal for someone wanting to stay longer.
I would not hesitate to book again.

Sue and Andrew were very considerate guests and we would happily host them again.
Good little flat under the main house has everything you need. Easy walking distance to central Russell and a great base for trips to tapeka point, deep cove snorkeling, oke bay, urupukuku etc. V hospitable hosts shared their bbq with us.
We found a "home away from home" with Geoff & Jane. We were able to explore Russell and to relax in the well appointed unit. Thank you...we will be back !
The hosts are very friendly and the unit is fully equipped for an awesome escape. Even supply of breakfast food, tea, coffee and milk. The location is ideal between the bay and a stroll to The down town area and marina. Thank you very much.

About the host
Hosted by Janeinrussell
My husband Geoff and I moved to Russell in 2000 from Auckland for lifestyle reasons. Both of us had previously had corporate careers in the ICT industry but we appreciate living in a small community that is friendly and caring. I am a volunteer St John Ambulance officer and run a tall ship, the R. Tucker Thompson, that operates tourism sailings during summer, that fund youth development voyages over winter. Geoff is retired and has a boat project that he is working on in the garden of our home, which is upstairs from the apartment.
Why they chose this property
Handy location with self contained apartment with separate entrance.
