About this property
The_Cozy_Batch with a rural outlook
Nice comfortable self-contained open plan two bedroom house with a rural backdrop. Sit on the sun drenched deck listening to the native birds and if you are lucky enough see a wild deer or two or goats might stroll pass or have a quiet night on the deck with a wine under the stars. On colder nights/days sit in the cozy lounge watching a movie or t.v in front of the fire. We have Vodafone tv.(which has :- On Demand, NetFlix, YouTube, etc) The house is located on a quiet street with a bus stop to go to town for $2.50 or cycle along the lovely whanganui river bank along the mighty whanganui walkway to the historic city center or bustling Saturday markets, the historic Waimarie and #12 tram or cycle up to the Virginia Lake to feed the ducks (Pellets can be brought at the Bach so the kids can feed the ducks) see the Winter Gardens and Bird Aviary. The house is well built to have the sun in nearly all rooms, most of the day and is very user friendly with an open plan living lounge that can be divided if you what a quiet time away from the kids. The kitchen is very well stocked with baking utensils etc. and the bathroom is a very spacious wet floor with hand rails for the older guests. Sorry but the house is not suitable for disability purposes at this stage.Due to to the three steps into the house in the front, with hand rail and the deck steps at the back. but once in the house is fairly wheelchair friendly. When it comes to bedtime you are sure to have a good sleep in the super king size bed fitted with snuggly polar sheets so warm that you probably won't need the electric blanket that is supplied. The owners are very willing to make your stay rememberable as possible. Just ask and we will try our best to help out with extra beds,Having the fire going on arrival , bottle of wine chilling, bunch of flowers for that romantic weekend on request for a small charge. Lovely house and property, kids enjoyed the outdoor and indoor games. The fire was fabulous. We had a large group (8), which meant that three kids were on air beds. That was fine for younger kids, but maybe not as suitable if you had a large group of teenagers.
We were met by the host. Stocked snack cupboard. Beautiful garden setting -booking stress-free definately use again.Thk u

We enjoyed our stay and the lovely surroundings this place had to offer. Responsive and friendly hosts who we enjoyed few good chats with Matt. Loved sitting outside on deck in morning watching wild deer roaming on mountain hillsides.Over all a lovely stay and if we were ever back this way we would not hesitate stay in this cosy batch again.
John and I really enjoyed our stay at the Bach.
It was roomy, clean and comfortable.Matt and Cherie
were excellent and attentive hosts and we'll definitely be back.
This was our second time staying here, for a reason! The house is just so comfortable and lovely. We love the quiet location and were lucky enough to spot the deer this time! All the personal touches, including the welcome message on the whiteboard, made for a very relaxing stay. The garden looked stunning! Thank you!!
We had a wonderful stay in Whanganui staying in this Bach . The pile of wood for the fire and great heating meant we soon made the Bach cosy and homely and comfortable and all we could wish for for a lovely family get together. Many thanks to our hosts for making us feel so welcome and comfortable.
Great little house. Very quiet neighbourhood. Very friendly owners. Lost of little details to make you feel welcome. A little note on the fridge and homemade jams available.
More than enough firewood for cosy nights.
Loved our stay.
We loved staying here. Felt very homely and our hosts were very accommodating. The gardens were beautiful. We enjoyed seeing deer on the hill. We would recommend to others and stay here again. Thank you.
Matt and Cherie are very helpful and welcoming hosts

About the host
Hosted by Matt and Cherie
We are easy going couple I have lived in Wanganui most of my life (apart of 6years stint in Ireland) Cherie move up from Levin. While i was in Ireland i worked a few years as a nightporter in a hostel. Cherie has worked most of her life in the service industry.
Why they chose this property
I brought this house while in Ireland so I could return home and be close to look after my ageing mother. It got to the stage her house got to big for her so I did this up for her and swapped houses (hence it being great for the older guests having hand rails around). After her illness sadly forced her being put into a care The_Cozy_Batch was born.
What makes this property unique
The owners are very keen to make your stay one to remember. you can arrange to have fire lit for arrival. With prior arrangement Flowers and a bottle of wine can be brought and left for for a romantic get away.
