Bach or holiday home, 1 Bedrooms, 1 Bathrooms, (Sleeps 4)
We are a Canadian/Kiwi couple. My partner grew up on this land and helped his family farm it when he was young. I fell in love with it the first time he brought me up north. We live in Auckland but love our escapes to the bach and often spend our weekends either on the water paddling, or on the land, planting trees (or controlling weeds!).
Why velmajr chose Karkari Peninsula
This bach is built on family land and has a special history to us. Previously farmed, we are gradually returning our property to native bush, and though still small, the native plantings around the bach have all been propagated by us from local sources.
What makes this House unique
This place is good for the soul. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, you will enjoy complete privacy (with the exception of neighbouring cows). The bach is full of light and completely opens up with bifold doors on either side, to let the sun stream in. It is a short drive to multiple beaches - about 800m off Tokerau beach, or you can walk through farm tracks to get there. This isn't a shopping destination or a place to go for fine dining. It is a blissful, serene getaway. Bring your swimsuit and water sports gear, a good book and a bottle of wine and you will be set.

Relaxing hide away.
Very private comfortable little bach.
Two days of bliss , lovely Bach .
Great location, very private, close to the great beaches and good walks on the Peninsula. We dnjoyed our two day stay there. .
Perfect spot to explore this enchanting area and the far north
We stayed here with our two small boys who loved the amount of space they had to run around in. Impressive bach set up with so much more than we were expecting. Really do only need groceries, very easy to cook almost anything in such a well equipped kitchen. Such a beautiful property with views that seem to go on forever in every direction. We walked the farm tracks down to the beach. Enjoyed time at all the peninsula beaches. Easy drive to the other beaches, Apihara, Gumdiggers Park and collection point for the Cape Reinga bus trip. Thank you for sharing your private bliss bach.
Thanks so much for the wonderful review. We absolutely love the area and our bach as well and are always super happy to hear that our guests loved it as well. Come back anytime!
An awesome place to relax and recharge with all you need to...
An awesome place to relax and recharge with all you need to enjoy a holiday away but only a few minutes drive to the beach. Being off the road hidden away you definitely have privacy and the place to yourself with tons of space. A great little hideaway. Thoroughly recommend private bliss.
Charming, cool, comfortable private space on beautiful garden setting.
If you want to escape to a quiet rural space come here! Evenings enjoying the sunset and stargazing were our favourites. This Bach has benn completely renovated so you will have all new amenities to cook and relax. There must have been 4 different coffee pots!!
We explored Matai beach, walked the fig tree track, cycled the Tauruo trail, drove up to Cape Reinga and visited Gumdiggers Park while we were there.
Bring groceries and alcohol with you as the local shopping is 20 minutes away.
Thanks Michelle for sharing your cool space with us!!
Thank you for your positive review and we're so happy you enjoyed your stay and made the most of all the area has to offer. It is a special place to us and it makes us happy when our guests feel the same.
This is the second time I have stayed here and I will definitely be back.
I was on holiday enjoying a bit of fishing & photography and this place was perfect for me.
Very quiet, peaceful, and private.
Thank you for another great stay.
The beaches on Tokerau Beach are simply stunning. Go for a swim, a dive, paddle around if you have a kayak or SUP with you, or take the boogie boards from the bach down to the beach.
We are ideally located for a day trip to Cape Reinga, or for a trip to the west coast for a surf at Ahipara.
Carrington Winery is only a 10-minute drive away and offers simply stunning views to sit outside and enjoy a bottle of wine and some snacks.
