About this property

Cottage with stunning sea views

Fabulous sea views across the harbour, sun drenched decking areas, private bush setting and easy walking distance to Akaroa's superb cafes and restaurants. This well equipped, modern holiday home has had a recent refurbishment and is presented sparkling clean and quite special. Free wifi is provided for guests in the house.

The house is all on one level and is elevated for the sea views. An easy set of wide steps leads from the driveway parking to the house. The sea view can be enjoyed from the living area as well as from both of the double bedrooms. A substantial wrap around deck means that there are plenty of places for alfresco meals or a glass of wine. Enjoy a coffee on the front open deck or under the shaded verandah and watch the boat traffic and comings and goings of the town. Or pull up a chair and relax in total seclusion on the sunny deck at the rear of the property to read a book.

A 'Broil King' hooded BBQ has been added to the outdoor dining space - with a built in thermostat this BBQ can be used as a conventional BBQ or as an outdoor oven to bake a homemade pizza or roast a juicy chicken or leg of pork.

Inside, the stylish living/dining room has a Sony flat screen television with freeview satellite TV, as well as good lighting for reading. A big 8kw Daikin heat pump and a double layer of insulation in the ceiling will keep you warm and cosy in the winter as well as cooler in the summer. The kitchen is well equipped and is well lit and bright. The bathroom has been completely updated and has a wall mounted fan heater. The master bedroom has a queen sized bed and the second bedroom has a double bed. Both bedrooms are a perfect retreat for guests, with good quality beds. A convenient laundry and utility area adjoins the back door. All areas are super clean and light and bright.

Please note that although there is good access to this house, that it may not suit people with walking disabilities - please discuss this with the owner. Please also discuss this accommodation re very young children, as the house is set on a hill and there are falling hazards for toddlers (see photos).

LINEN is commercial quality white cotton and is included. Your bed will be made up for your arrival.

IMPORTANT NOTE : the two person rate assumes a couple, and includes linen for ONE queen bed to be made up, plus your bath towels, bath mat etc. If two people travelling together wish to use two beds and two bedrooms , then please contact the owner in advance - there will be a charge for the hired linen for an extra bed & bedroom service of NZ $55.

Sorry, but absolutely no pets and no smoking.

Cottage in Akaroa
Lovely setting, beautiful views of bay and town, privacy excellent. Large deck with outside seating fascilities. Bedrooms and living room doors open onto deck. Beautiful views from bedroom and living room windows. Some small issues: Stove hob appeared to have a loose electrical connection, left note for host. I assume fixed by now. Shower mixer tap slightly difficult to operate due to interference by shower door inner edge. However, these were small issues.

5 star rated - Great views, handy location, clean and comfortable
Had a relaxing 5 day stay here and it was fabulous. House was warm (heat pump), kitchen had everything you needed - although perhaps a couple more knives would be useful - comfortable beds and good block out curtains to ensure a good night sleep. The wrap around deck was just brilliant from early morning cups of tea overlooking the harbour to a private sanctuary evening drinks round the back. The driveway is a little steep - I found it difficult to either reverse up or down. There is no room to turn around at the top. I ended up parking on the road and we carried everything up and down as needed.
