About this property
Unwind in a Real, Cute, Comfortable Bach in Takamatua
Old French Road will provide a lovely getaway. It is comfortable and homely whilst retaining its original bach character with wooden floors, mix and match furniture and knick knacks noone is quite ready to throw out.
Its sunny position overlooked by an old walnut tree and surrounded by roses, grape vines and natives is a lovely spot to grab a book and some time with friends and family.
Less than 2 minutes away the water to paddle in (when its not mudflats), the stream to do white-baiting and just a little further away a jetty to jump from. Within a short 3km drive you can enjoy the cafes, restaurants, galleries and boutique shops of Akaroa.
Whether it be a summer of sunshine enjoying BBQs outside on the deck or tucked up warm and cosy in front of the open fire (or heat pump) after sunset in winter, this bach will let you get away from it all.
There is a deck with seating and dining table out the back which is great for catching the early sun and a chair & couch set up on the front deck, perfect for sipping a wine or gin in.
The shower pressure is great after a new hot water cylinder has been put in, so you are good to go.
Linen (Optional, NZ$15.00 per person);
Extras: Cleaning (Required, NZ$70.00 per stay);
Extra Guest (Optional, NZ$25.00 per night);
Special conditions:
*Smoking only allowed outside and butts to be collected.
*Family pets ok with prior approval - you must bring a bed for them and they are not to be on the beds or furniture. It is fully fenced.
*There is a culvert that runs across the corner of the front garden so you will need to watch small children.
*Two night minimum stay on weekends. Three night minimum stay long weekends.
*Price quoted is up to 4 people.
When guests leave please close main gate.

About the host
Hosted by Lizzie Parker

Im a NZer that lives rurally, 10km from Darfield but work in Rolleston. I have a couple of dogs that love heading out to Takamatua and chilling out.
Why they chose this property
It was an opportunistic purchase as Takamatua had a good feel about it - not in the busy hustle of Akaroa but still had a holiday feel and enough walks around for the dogs. It is a really cute bungalow that needed some TLC - the previous owner had set it up beautifully and it just needed a touch up.
What makes this property unique
Parking for the boat; kennel for the dog
