Are you looking for somewhere to gather and relax? Escape to tranquillity in spectacular rural Banks Peninsula. This holiday home suits couples or families who want to enjoy the view of Akaroa harbour and hear only the sounds of native birds.
This is a modern family farmhouse, just up the hill from Wainui beach. It was built by the owners 30 years ago, from macrocarpa timber milled from the property. Now the next generation of the family enjoy the comfort and quiet of the place whenever they can, and at other times are happy to share the property with guests.
With its four bedrooms, two bathrooms, spacious living and dining rooms, full-sized family kitchen, and big deck with barbecue, it works well for families getting together, who want space to spread out indoors, as well as the option to be outside. Relax and take in the view or play on the lawn. There are acres of farmland to explore or take a stroll down to Wainui beach.
The farmhouse sleeps 8-9 people. Upstairs is the master bedroom with queen bed and ensuite bathroom. Downstairs there are three more bedrooms and full bathroom. One x large bedroom with queen bed with own entrance to the lawn. One x large bedroom with 2 x single beds. One bedroom with 2 x bunkbeds. There’s an extra single bed upstairs to accommodate larger groups.
When the evenings turn cool and you gather inside, the two connected living areas are kept cosy with a big wood burner.
Plenty of off-road parking for cars and trailers.
When you stay here there’s lots to do in easy reach. On the Wainui side of Banks Peninsula, you have the beach and boat ramp, Saddle Hill scenic reserve, alpaca farm tours, winery garden bar, and cheese factory. The nearest hotel/bistro is at Duvauchelle, a twenty-minute drive. There you can also find gas, general store, and golf club. Akaroa is a half-hour drive, to art galleries, cake shop, farmers market, French-style cafes and restaurants, dolphin and penguin cruises, and a small supermarket.
Minimum stay 6 nights.

Beautiful home, spacious, well cared for, lovely garden, beautiful views, very restful, a good base for day trips, we used the bbq, and the wood fire when the temperature dropped.
Very nice place to stay well equipped and lovely fire with plenty of wood. Just a bit far from the water.Very nice to arrive to the fire going Thank you

Thank you for sharing your review and we're glad you found our place nice and had an enjoyable stay.
A beautifully appointed family home. All you need with a side serving of serenity. The Bell birds out the kitchen window were a joy and the night sky was beautiful. Warm and comfortable. We even got a lovely welcome gift. Thank you.
Lovely property with really nice views across the harbour (when it wasn't too cloudy!). We appreciated the welcome gift and overall presentation of the accommodation, plus the wood burner was great. The only thing that confused us was the lack of a freezer, which we didn't realise would be the case. We very much enjoyed our relaxing stay though and my mum in particular loved the abundance of birdlife since she is an avid birdwatcher. Thanks Julie & Andrew, Nick & Elsie!

Long weekend stay
The property was nice and good location. We stayed labour weekend 2020.
Andrew was quick to respond to any messages.Could have a few more cooking utensil, etc but did have the very basic.Only issues we had Day 1 we found a syringe and needle and Day 3(sunday)we had and unexpected visit from a real estate agent carrying out an open home!We paid top rates for this and were not happy and were not offered any kind of reparations.
Well situated property with an amazing view. More than enough room for the whole family with the required amenities.
A bbq would have been nice to fully utilise the outside deck area.
A great experience close to nature. Amazing views over the harbour. Watching the cruise ships arrive and depart great to watch. Birdlife in abundance, night sky amazing. A very comfortable home to stay in with good coverage for internet and tv. Will definitely be coming back.
Great view. Lovely garden. Spacious house but needs a bit more love and attention to detail
