About this property
Charming villa on tree-lined street
This 1900s villa is set up for both relaxing and business trips, families with older children, couples or small groups. It has plenty of character from the gardens to the decor. It sits on a tree lined street with a creek behind it. From the deck you will hear the birds chirping and water running while you cook on the bbq. The cottage garden is charming when in bloom. The house is comfortable and cosy in winter with a wood burner and heat pump. The bedrooms have panel heaters and there is a heat transfer system which can keep the house at a comfortable temperature. The beds have hypoallergenic mattress and pillow protectors and quality cotton sheets with bedding for all temperatures. The shower has great water pressure and there is a separate bath which is ideal for unwinding. The living room is cosy and sits on one side of the fully equipped kitchen with entertainer's oven. On the other side of the kitchen is the dining room which seats up to six. There you will find a book and DVD collection to keep you entertained and lightning fast Gigatown internet speeds to use with your devices . If you are driving there is off street parking and plenty of additional parking on the street. There is also a bus stop 3 minutes away and the Botanic Gardens, Garden's supermarket, various eateries, bars and a pharmacy are all a leisurely 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive away. The University is a 7 minute drive or a 30 minute walk through the Botanic Gardens. The Forsyth Barr Stadium is 10 minutes by car and it is 15 minutes to the city centre, the hospital and pretty much any other amenities you will want or need during your stay. Special conditions: Smoking is allowed outside only. This property is not suitable for toddlers or young children unless always attended as the fencing may not keep them in the property. Older children are welcome. No parties. Please leave the villa clean and tidy.

We spent a week in Dunedin for a university conference and had a lovely time at the property. The house was cozy, well-appointed, and convenient for public transit (on the 8 bus). Would definitely stay again.
Lovely property, the uneven floors were a bit unnerving though.

Thanks for your words. We just had some people stay for 3 months who specifically loved the floors. So interesting how differently people react to the same things!
Staying here was like a home away from home. We appreciated the thoughtful touches such as fresh flowers and milk and tips for local cafes. Coming home to a fire after a day of sightseeing was wonderful. This place was beautiful in autumn. Would love to stay here again!

Kitchen is fully equipped, laundry is functional, beds are comfortable. Spacious enough for most needs. The owners are friendly and easy to contact if there are any issues.
A lovely cottage gardened small villa with absolutely everything we needed. Well chosen artifacts in the house in keeping with the home. Quiet neighbourhood on a bus route. We loved our stay thank you.
The hosts were wonderful. Very easy and quick to communicate with. The property was very clean and had everything we needed. A nice base for a great week exploring the Dunedin area.

This was a beautiful home and property and made the last bit of our trip incredible. It’s on a quiet street within a mile of anything you could need. The hosts were lovely and accommodating. Definitely take a soak in the claw foot tub if you get the chance.
There was everything we needed here including lots of heating. We were very impressed with the wood burner and all the beautifully cut firewood. We also enjoyed discovering Chingford Park down the end of the Place.
The house is exactly as advertised, very clean, with a beautiful garden. It is in a good location for seeing the sights in Dunedin. The owners are extremely responsive and fixed a minor issue within minutes of our reporting it. We would absolutely stay here again.
A beautiful, well-appointed little house. It was lovely and warm, with a very comfortable bed and was sparkling clean. Nadine was easy to communicate with and kept the house warm for us when we arrived. Thanks, Nadine!
Stayed at this beautiful villa, well set-up and easy access, close to most of my son's college. Hosts were very helpful and kind, we had everything we needed and the log burner was great at keeoong us warm. The house is so well equipped, would like to stay here again next time we're in Dunedin.
Thank you for sharing your charming villa with us :)
This house has lots of space, and is well-equipped. It was especially nice to have a kitchen that allowed us to actually cook a meal! The garden/yard is wonderful...with lots of native plants, and birds...
The location is also very good. We used this house as a base for four days of travel in and around the area.
If back in the area, we would definitely stay here again!
This was the most beautiful home. Stunning construction and decor, has a very special feel to it. We arrived late and the host had drawn the curtains, turned on the heaters, and left the fireplace ready to light. We were in awe of the whole place. Highly recommend.
We really loved staying in this house. It was old but full of character and had all the important things to feel comfortable and cosy. Especially liked using the BBQ on the back deck listening to the sound of the little brook. Very handy (walkable) to some of Dunedins best bits, including the botanic gardens. Nadine was lovely too. Will be back we hope
It’s beautiful and romantic house , it’s like grandma’s house. There are salt, pepper, soysause, oil, cinnamon, and so on. I like rosehip herb tea so I buy it in countdown.
Lovely, well-maintained bach. Very clean and tastefully decorated. Single beds are not particularly comfortable.

About the host
Hosted by Nadine_and_Jake
Hi there, my name is Nadine and I am a photographer who lives in Dunedin, a brilliant small city filled with arts, great food and even better coffee. My partner Jake originally came from Korea and is a home handyman and golfer by day and a chef, creating some of that great food, by night!
Why they chose this property
This house, built at the start of last century was originally purchased as my home because I loved the features, the feel and the light. I also loved the rambling cottage garden and the green and private back yard. I always wanted a house with water nearby and when there is enough water in the creek, the sun is high, and the trees green, it is like being in the countryside. It is situated in North East Valley which is a great part of town filled with friendly people and small local businesses.
What makes this property unique
An ideal house for relaxing but also in walking distance to Baldwin Street, the world's steepest residential street! It is also in walking distance to the bus stop or the Gardens supermarket and other stores. It is a 10 minute drive to the stadium, and 15 minutes in busy traffic to the city centre, the beach or pretty much anywhere! I love vintage and retro furnishing and this house suits the items I gathered over time.
