About this property

Charming home on the Strait of Canso

Welcome to Behie House! We are a hidden gem tucked along the coastline of Guysborough County. Come stay in our precious 3-bedroom home with a full kitchen and dining area for large groups, a bright and open living room, and a fully screened veranda on a rural property where kids and animals can play.

Wake up in the gorgeous countryside and come downstairs to enjoy your morning coffee overlooking the Strait of Canso and Cape Breton Island.

A 25 minute drive to Guysborough and Cape Breton, Behie House serves as a great home base for exploring southern Cape Breton and the Eastern Shore. Explore our varied beaches to do some beachcombing, sightseeing, sunbathing, or swimming, and keep on the lookout for hiking trails - directions are provided on the fridge in the house (including some recommended, more hidden local areas!)

We are open year round. In the fall and winter you can expect a warm, cozy retreat with heat pumps on all levels of the house. So if you're looking for a wonderful getaway in the colder months, or even just a home all your own while you're on a business trip, Behie House is the perfect fit.

Very clean and well kept home. The owner stopped by to make sure our stay was going OK and to see if we needed anything. Enjoyed spending time in Port Hawkesbury and sitting by the water at the nearby rocky shore. Owner has good directions on how to get to get to other nearby sandy beaches.

Why they chose this property

Sand Point is where my family is from and where my siblings and parents grew up. This house is deeply rooted in our family’s history and is very special to us. My grandparents renovated the property many years ago and have always cherished it. They hosted many summer vacations and holidays here, serving great food and offering the best company.

What makes this property unique

What makes our property truly unique is its role as the backdrop to generations of family memories. It’s not just the beautiful renovations my grandparents made, or the view out to the Strait, but the way this place has been a steady presence through holidays, laughter, and long conversations over homemade meals.
