The bldg was new and the finishes were very nice. The bus stop was right in front of the house. That is wonderful of you plan to use the bus to get around. It’s very easy to use the bus, and if you’re not sure, the locals were very helpful. There was a sm grocery store just a few blocks down the street. A Starbucks was also just a couple blocks away. The host was easy to work with. We arranged for her to pick us up at the airport. I was disappointed with the furnishings. My husband and I had one towel to share for 3 days. We were given a 2nd towel, which we gave to other guests who arrived and had no towels. There was nowhere to sit except in wooden chairs or on the bed.
I was given alternative accommodation as apparently there was a problem with the one I booked. I don’t think either were as per the photo in details!Accommodation was finished to a high standard but not equipped very well. For example there was no way of making toast - no toaster and no grill pan in grill/oven and when I queried this no alternative was provided. The cupboards and splasbacks we’re wrapped in cling film? There was only one easy chair in corner of room kitchen table/chairs provided but no other seating for people.

TDLR: I had to leave the stay 5 days early because it was so dismal. So the host booked me in a separate unit on the property because the one pictured / advertised above, its ensuite washroom needed repairs. Also I learned that unit pictured is not in fact the entire house but rather a private room with a shared common area/kitchen. Very misleading advertising when it says ‘entire home’ on the ad (also that’s what VRBO boasts) and only at the very very bottom in small print does it mention common space. It’s deceitful. My review will be on the place I did stay: the basement of the big house on the property (I booked for 10 days, I left on day 5 and issued a complaint for a refund). It is fine if all you’re looking for is lodging - a roof over your head and that is it, it is bare bones type of VRBO. There is sparse plating/utensils, no lamps, no couch (one chaise lounge that doesn’t work) some VERY small towels that are worn through (if you’re beyond a women’s size medium they barely fit) and a total of 4 clothing hangers. The bed is like a slab of marble and the pillows are so uncomfortable. Also the entirety of the kitchen is saranwrapped (covering the cupboards, backsplash and cabinetry) because they don’t want oil splatters, ostensibly. What I will say in a glimmer of a positive light, the space was completely clean, and the host was responsive - but given the type of hosting they provide it’s not as though they could add anything to ameliorate the stay.

We’re very disappointed by this review, as it is misleading and does not reflect the reality of our property. The original unit you booked was indeed undergoing washroom repairs for your safety and comfort, which we communicated upfront. To ensure your stay was not interrupted, we offered you another private suite for your use (2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a living room and kitchen) on the same property at no extra cost. The alternative unit you stayed in was much larger and we normally rent that at a higher price, but we let you stay there at no extra cost. You booked 10 days with us, so we had to cancel other guests to accommodate you, but you decided to leave early due to the changes in your trip, You made up an excuse for leaving early, but we still provided you a refund, even though it was well past our refund policy. However, you are still not satisfied, and leave such negative review. What you have booked for the original unit was provided above and beyond in the alternative unit.
The unit you stayed in was fully furnished with a queen-size bed, pillows, towels, hangers, and kitchen essentials. Many guests find it comfortable and well-equipped. The kitchen area that was wrapped was only the small section above the stovetop, to maintain hygiene and cleanliness, not as a restriction. All cabinets can be opened freely, and two-thirds of the kitchen area was not wrapped at all, about 20 more cabinets than the one you took photos of. Additionally, all necessary cookware, utensils, and dining items were provided. As for the towels, the one you photographed was part of the flower pattern, not worn out. Besides, there were 4 more new towels for you to use. You were the only one staying in our large 2 bedroom unit, and I have provided five new towels for you, which is more than adequate for one guest. Yet you kept requesting more until we ran out. There were both large and small towels, all bought in standard sizes. Of course, a small towel is not meant to cover your body, that is what the large towels are for.
Our listing is transparent: it clearly states that the advertised unit is a private suite with access to common spaces. Guests before you and after you had no issue understanding this.
We maintain a very high standard of cleanliness (as you yourself acknowledged), and we are always responsive to guest requests. We tried our best to provide exceptional service and experience for you: we provided what you paid for, went above and beyond that, granted you a refund outside our policy, and responded to your requests promptly. We really tried our best to give you the best possible experience. You told me, before your stay, that your trip had already been unpleasant, but I never expected that you would take it out on us and make up lies and twist facts. No matter what, we will always and continue to provide exceptional service for all of our guests.
I have direct messaged the host before writing the review. The host did respond, but generically and chose not respond to my issue. No reply on a 2nd message. Be aware this is just a bedroom with a bathroom. The rest of the space is shared. Admittedly the advertisement is confusing - states "entire home" and says "cozy bedroom". I took "entire home" to be the normal & customary VRBO private accommodation.Beyond this being shared accomodation, the property is clean and in a good location. The room is stark. There is not a living room as mentioned. Seating is your bed and two chairs in the kitchen. The host provides two pillows and one towel. Bring an eye mask, the window shades are paper and meagerly block light. The wifi wasn't able to reliably support a Teams call.I did not expect to be sharing space. The other issues could be lived with. Not acknowledging the concern isn't acceptable and that is what generated the review.
