About this property

Awaawa Yurts - Papa - Our Island

Summary:
Awaawa Yurts is a peaceful hideaway nestled in the hills above Palm Beach, Waiheke Island. Set among native bush with glimpses of the sea, our handcrafted yurts offer a quiet space to slow down and soak in the rhythm of the island.
Each yurt is fully insulated and thoughtfully furnished, blending the simplicity of off-grid living with a few gentle touches of comfort. On warm days, roll up the canvas walls to let in the breeze and birdsong.

The Space:
On cooler nights, flick on the heater and stay cosy under soft linen and a pillow-top mattress. The central skylight gives a view to the stars and lets natural light pour in with the morning sun.
Each yurt includes a Nespresso machine, tea-making essentials, and a mini fridge—just enough for slow mornings with a warm drink in hand before heading out to explore. Waiheke’s vineyards, beachside dining, coastal tracks and some of the island’s best beaches are just a few minutes away.
Each yurt has its own private bathroom—just next door—with a hot shower, toilet, and basin. You’ll also find a quiet spot to sit outside and enjoy the view, whether with a glass of wine or a good book.

We have three yurts available:
Papa – 5 metres across, our most intimate option, perfect for solo stays or couples who like things snug.
Rangi – 6 metres wide, with sweeping views from the highest point on the site.
Tāne – 7 metres in diameter, spacious and open, ideal if you love a bit more room to spread out.

Each one is a little different, but all are clean, private, and designed with care—offering a simple, soulful base for your time on Waiheke.

Yurt was very clean well appointed. Separate private bathroom building was only five steps away and also very clean. Beautiful views and lots of birds in area. Very conveniently located near bus stops and a 15 minute walk to either of the Palm Beaches. Yurt had great cross-ventilation and was quite comfortable. Refrigerator was small. Wood deck outside yurt had two chairs and coffee table. Mostly private around yurt.
