It was very easy to reserve the property and communicate with the host. My husband and I enjoyed how comfortable and clean the cottage was. There were also wonderful starter products in the bathrooms and all the kitchen items we needed to make our stay easy. We definitely will return.

We had a wonderful family vacation on BHI! The house is great, close to the beach and exactly as advertised. Perfect for families of 4. Dianne is an extremely responsive host, and was available to address anything that came up. Would absolutely stay here again!

Dianne was prompt in answering our questions and addressing any concerns. The layout of the house was great with the family space being the central open area. The rooms were cozy and had all of the things that we needed for our stay. We enjoyed our visit and would stay again. Only thing I would note for those that it would matter, is that the listed grill is not full size but rather a small portable charcoal grill.

We loved our stay at Shell Cottage, and we highly recommend it! Dianne, the owner, is an excellent communicator and was responsive to our requests and questions throughout.The overall feel of Shell Cottage is spacious due to its clever three-level layout, thoughtfully designed and well-organized with just the right touches for relaxing stays on Bald Head. Everything is clean and very well-maintained. The main floor of the Cottage offers lovely decor along with plenty of comfortable seating. While at first glance the kitchen appears small, it is extremely organized and well-fitted for prepping a multi-course meal or for assembling casual snacks and left-overs. The owners have thought of everything, including very much appreciated high quality cookware and appliances along with proper table/glassware and utensils. The ground and upper floors each offer a very comfortable bedroom and bath with good storage, generous linens and pillows, along with plenty of beach towels. We’ve been visiting Bald Head since the mid-80s, and Cape Fear Station is our favorite location on the island. We’ve stayed in several rental homes nearby, choosing different sizes depending on how many family and friends join us. Shell Cottage is now one of our favorites, and we look forward to returning.

There were some glitches in the check-in process but the host was quick to respond and the problems were solved in a very timely manner. Having 2 golf carts was a real bonus, as the beach chairs could be loaded on one with plenty of room for 4 adults to get to the beach easily. I do wish I'd known to go ahead and make ferry and tram reservations at the time of booking. We waited until closer to the vacation time and found that all the ideal times were completely full. We'll keep this in mind for the next time!All in all, we had a really great time and came home with fun memories.

Great house for a couple's getaway! It is in a great location on the island with quick access to everything but also still with lots of privacy. Dianne was one of the best hosts I have stayed with - super accommodating and quick to respond.

Lovely stay at a wonderful cottage hosted by the most responsive property owner. Beds and pillows were comfy, golf cart was new and in good shape, kitchen well equipped and loved the convenient East Beach location. Family was super pleased with our stay and expect to return again!

Mother’s Day Weekend Getaway

We had a wonderful stay. We came to BHI for a 3 night Mother’s Day getaway. The home was exactly what our family needed. The location was great and the house was well stocked with everything we needed for our stay. We will definitely look to stay here again.

Relaxing, worry free stay

Shell Cottage is in a quaint spot in the woods, yet only a few minutes to the beach by golf cart. We found the place quite comfortable and in immaculate condition. We'd stay there again!
