Bald Head Island Family Retreat with private pool, BHI & Shoals!

We welcome you to love our renovated beach cottage as much as we do! We are tucked away in the Maritime forest with its beautiful live oak trees but only a 2 minute golf cart ride to fabulous South Beach. The large (private for guests only) community pool is only steps away for those who do want to stay close to the house. We have two - 6 passenger golf carts ready for you to explore the island. Our home sleeps 8 guests comfortably. Our first floor has 2 bedrooms each with king beds and adjoining full baths. The second floor has one bedroom with 2 queen beds and its own full bathroom. Each bedroom has a flatscreen Samsung smart TV. We have bikes & beach chairs for our guests to enjoy. Linens and towels (including beach towels) are included. We also include a starter set of all essentials (laundry, dish soap, paper towels/ toilet paper). Our kitchen is fully accommodated for those nights you want to eat in. A Weber propane grill is available for our guests use * please note propane is purchased directly by guests on island and not provided by owners. We take pride in having a clean, convenient, beautiful home for our guests to enjoy! If you have never experienced Bald Head Island you are going to love it! We are a barrier Island with no bridge which makes it super private and a nature lovers paradise! No cars allowed so you will take a passenger ferry to the island which adds to the excitement! A (guest) temporary membership to the (Lifestyle) BHI Club AND Shoals Club are available to purchase directly with the clubs. Depending on your interests, the clubs offer world class golf, multiple pools, tennis, pickleball and several restaurants for you to enjoy.
Our commitment is to provide you with a fully equipped home for you to enjoy beautiful Bald Head Island! The island is truly magical and fantastic for families, couples, multigenerational and guys/girls trips!
**Saturday-Saturday Check Ins only during peak season with a minimum 7 night stay between Memorial and Labor Day holidays**

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights, lock the doors and return the keys
Trash sign in middle of garage needs to be turned to red side “yes” showing
ONLY beach towels must be washed, dried and folded then put back in clear bin above the dryer. (All other linens and bathroom white towels will be handled by cleaners)
Carts MUST be cleaned of trash and debris, then plugged in and charging at departure. ALL garage items to include bikes, must be out back inside garage and garage door closed.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Please note there are NO fireworks allowable on the island during anytime, including Independence Day week.

Relaxing getaway

From check in to check out, the process was stress-free. The property had everything that we needed during our stay (beach chairs, sand toys, coolers, bug spray, beach towels, etc). The kitchen was well stocked and the home was beautifully decorated. Lots of towels and comfy beds! We had a wonderful, relaxing trip and can’t wait to go back!

Bald Head Island Stay

Cute house. Plants needed trimming off lower steps. Lower steps need replacing, well furnished except there was no can opener. Nice quiet location almost a recluse. Overall, a good choice to stay.

Great house on Bald Head!

The house is nice and well kept! It was as advertised and my family would wholeheartedly recommend it! The two large golf carts was a nice bonus and the set of beach equipment was appreciated. Having a pool steps away was also great…

Great Property

Great property for a family. The home is clean, nicely appointed and well kept. It had everything we needed, plus a couple of nice surprises, like the Shibumi beach umbrella. Both golf carts were in great shape. The community pool is just across the street and very nice. Overall, the location is in the center of the island and pretty close to everything. The property manager is super responsive and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

Amazing home and homeowner!

We had a wonderful time during our stay! The property was super clean, in great condition, very well appointed and in a great central location with a nice pool right outside the front door! Shanna is amazingly accommodating and responsive. The 2 6 person golf carts were awesome and worked perfectly for our party of 7. I would highly recommend this property and owner! We can’t wait to come back to beautiful BHI!!

Lovely cottage in the forest

This beautiful home was all that we hoped it would be and more. Everything was super clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The 6 person golf cart made it an easy drive to all locations on the island and enabled us to bring along beach chairs, a cooler, etc. Shanna was a great source of information about BHI and very responsive to all my questions. We hope to come back one day!

Good for families

No complaints about the property but it was definitely not clean when we arrived. Our feet were black, we had to sweep up a half a trash bag full of trash from the kids room upstairs including dirty underwear, and had to mop the floors.

Slice of paradise

We loved our stay at this clean, well equipped and perfectly located home. The neighborhood is adorable and the house is family friendly and just perfect for the 5 of us (2 adults and 3 kids ages 2, 4 and 6). We could have even had a grandparent or two stay - not huge but plenty big for us. Lovely porch and screened in deck out back. Our kids loved walking around Ibis Roost (the name of the community) and discovering nature. Next time we will come back when the pool is open (in April - we just missed it). The 6 person golf cart is brand new and in excellent condition. We made amazing memories driving the golf cart to the beach and to the Bald Head Island club park and pool. Just an absolute perfect and covid friendly getaway. Shanna couldn’t have been more communicative and responsive. Everything is just as pictured and described. You won’t regret booking!

Not well-maintained and not our typical BHI experience

We were disappointed with this home. We knew it would be ‘cozy’ for 8 people but the size wasn’t the issue. The house is not well maintained. The owner could be reached easily, but seemed upset and annoyed. To boot, we paid more than ever - for a smaller house and with only one golf cart (we had to pay $750 for a second cart for the week). Still managed to have a great time but it was not our typical lovely BHI experience.

Perfect for our Family of 4's first BHI trip

This house was perfect for our family of 4's (including a 3 and 2 year old) first trip to Bald Head Island. The house was exactly as described in the listing / pictures, if not better. It was well stocked with all the essentials we needed, including both appliances and kitchen staples. It was exceptionally clean, and tons of room for our family to spread out and enjoy the stay. Shanna is a great host. She provided amazing recommendations prior to our trip, and stayed communicative and responsive as needed both as we arrived and during our stay. We really had no issues to discuss, but she answered a few questions we had during the week and made sure we had everything we needed. The location was perfect for us. It's in the forest, but a short golf cart ride from some great beach access points. We also enjoyed being in the forest, as the temperatures were a fair bit cooler. It's also super convenient to the market, shopping, and a few restaurants. The neighborhood (which is small) has a community pool which the house is across the street from, which our girls loved when we weren't at the beach and was never crowded (typically only one other family there if any). Since we had the pool so close, we opted not to do either of the clubs, which worked well for our family. We definitely hope to use this house again on future trips to the island, and can't say enough good things about Shanna as a host.

Happy first timers!

This was a great house and perfect for our first time on Bald Head Island (hopefully not our last - we fell in love with the place). The house was amazingly clean for being so near the beach - I would love to know the secret to no sand). Very spacious for a family of 4, with everything we needed to enjoy the island. The week was very hot and the house was a cool mid-day refuge with great AC and the pool. The carts and the bikes made getting around very easy, such a great thing to have access to during the stay. The check-in process is so streamlined and Shanna was really easy to get in touch with - so responsive. The perfect mix of available, helpful and uncomplicated. We are so grateful to have been able to rent your little paradise for a week. Thank you!

The house was advertised just as it was presented. It was clean and had enough rooms and bathrooms for my family. We opted to eat out for most meals bc the kitchen was tiny. It had everything you needed stocked for you but I need a bigger space if I’m going to be cooking dinners. The primary bed was comfy and the king size was what we were used to so we appreciated that. We enjoyed the golf cart rides to the clubs, getting coffee every morning, and just cruising around. Next time we may choose to stay on the beach end of the island rather than the wooded part of the island , totally different feel , both with pros and cons. Overall, it was a complete delight.

Perfect summer stay in a very relaxing location!

First of all the house is exactly as pictured and incredibly clean and well maintained. The property manager was SO responsive. The pack and play was broken when we arrived and the owner/manager got us a new one delivered right away. The house came with everything we could have needed. Board games, bikes, seasonings, tin foil even a shabumi and spike ball! The location was very convenient and we didn’t think it was a problem being a bit away from the beach as there was always plenty of parking at the beach access points and the golf carts made it easy to get everywhere. The community pool is directly across from the front door which was great since the bald head club was packed the two times we went so we used the community pool instead and often had the whole thing to ourselves. At max there was only ever one other family there. We would absolutely return and everything was fantastic!

Perfect mid island location

One towel,washcloth,hand towel per person is not sufficient. I had to do laundry during our three nights for towels etc.Kitchen needs a thorough cleanup of cupboards. Stove needs deep clean.The house was a great floor plan for us but just in need of a good cleaning and freshen up furnishings and home goods. Stained fabric sofa.Porch furniture needs a good wipe down.I have rented many homes at various beaches and this was a disappointment, my DIL saw cockroaches on the first night and was freaked out.I realize it is off season and maybe property manager is out of routine or standards are lightened. We loved almost everything about the house. A good cleaning would go a long way.Why are there so many warn tired pillows in the closet in MBR just piled on floor of closet?

Great location and fun family time.

The house was located close to the maritime market and south beach. The neighborhood pool was great for our Grandson. We did do temporary guest passes to bald head island club but also having that pool within a few steps was great. The house is stocked with puzzles, bikes, games, etc. for fun family time.

Perfect Location on the Island

The house was in great shape, clean, very comfortable, and had all of the amenities you could want for a stay on BHI. The location was central to everything, and the neighborhood pool was perfect.
