Neighborhood
The lodge is located in the Terry Peak area near Lead, South Dakota, tucked into the scenic Black Hills—known for year-round outdoor adventures like skiing, hiking, biking, and ATVing.
Just blocks from Terry Peak Ski Area, it’s a perfect base for winter fun. The property also sits on an ATV trail to Cheyenne Crossing and Spearfish Canyon, and you can hop on the Mickelson Trail at the mountain’s base for a peaceful walk or bike ride.
Nearby, explore the historic towns of Lead and Deadwood. Grab a bite at Lewie’s—famous for burgers, onion rings, and beer—or head to Deadwood for a taste of the Old West, with its lively restaurants, shops, and classic saloons.
Everyday Essentials:
Coffee - Lil’s Coffee Co (9 min drive)
Groceries - Lynn’s Dakotamart (11 min drive)
Pharmacy - Vilas Pharmacy (11 min drive)
Gas - Exxon (12 min drive)
Getting around
Having a vehicle is essential for exploring all that the area has to offer. The road leading up to Terry Peak is well-maintained and fully paved. During the winter months, a four-wheel drive or all-wheel drive vehicle is strongly recommended for safe travel.
The Terry Valley neighborhood is ideally located—just minutes from Lead, 6 miles from Deadwood, and 18 miles from Sturgis. We’ve placed a magnet on the cabin’s fridge with the contact info for a local cab company that offers regular pick-up and drop-off service.
The driveway can comfortably fit a pickup truck with one trailer. If your group has two trailers, one may need to be carefully backed into the parking pad located on the north side of the house.

About the host
Hosted by Megan & Ed Bickel

Hi, we’re Ed and Megan Bickel: hosts, parents, and proud stewards of our 4th-generation family ranch. Megan’s a school teacher, and when we’re not hosting, we’re usually out enjoying ranch life or cheering on our two boys at their games. We love to travel and often stay in Airbnbs too, so we know how important it is to feel at home while you’re away. We hope you enjoy the cabin as much as we do! If you need anything, we’re just a message away.
