5 stars - Highly recommend staying here, and will book again on our next visit. The home is extremely clean, and the layout and build quality is great. Cant express enough how clean the home was...Had all we needed to stay 5 days. Tucked 8 minutes off 550 in the trees, the location is perfect sitting right between Silverton and Durango. Thank you and well done Sean.
This house was a great fit for our family. The kids loved the openness and the outdoor space. The only thing missing that I never located was a cutting board. The proximity to Purgatory ski resort was superior!

Natasha, the cutting boards are in the 2nd or 3rd drawer below the coffee maker. Glad you had fun!
We love staying at this home. It's our second time and won't be our last and in fact, have referred some of our friends that have booked for later this year. Sean is THE BEST host and we consider him a friend! He'll pull out all the stops to ensure his guests have a fantastic stay. The house is so well appointed you won't need to bring a thing. The views are gorgeous, the home is so warm and inviting and the beds are fantastic. We love this little slice of heaven in the mountains!
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful cabin and would absolutely return. Although the home does not have air conditioning, we never missed it. The stunning radiant floors were one of our favorite features and kept the house at a perfectly comfortable temperature throughout our stay. The home was exceptionally clean and comfortable. One of the unexpected highlights was the water system. The shower had the best water pressure we’ve ever experienced, and the hot water arrived instantly throughout the home. The property itself is spectacular. With more than 135 acres to explore, we enjoyed walking the land and taking in the peaceful surroundings. The wraparound walkway leads to a beautiful patio where we spent evenings enjoying a glass of wine while watching the sun set over the mountains. The wall of windows along one side brings the outdoors in and creates a calming connection with nature. The house blends perfectly with its surroundings. We appreciated all the extras, including the games, puzzles, TV options, cabinetry and especially the laundry facilities. Having no neighbors was a rare luxury and added to the peaceful experience. The location is ideal for exploring Durango, Silverton, and Ouray, and we thoroughly enjoyed driving the Million Dollar Highway. There is so much to see and do that a week wasn’t nearly enough. It’s obvious the owners put a great deal of thought into this home. Thank you for sharing the lovely property. We highly recommend it!
There aren't even words to say how incredible our stay was with Sean's gorgeous mountain home. You couldn't ask for a better host (who we now consider a friend!) and the house, the views, every feature and aspect of this beautiful and special place is 10/10. Sean thought of everything and frequently checked on us to be sure we had anything we needed. He truly wants his guests to have an incredible experience and this mountain gem does not disappoint. The ambiance is inviting and warm, the fire (with more firewood provided than you'll ever use) was such a nice end to each day only to be topped by the most comfortable bed! The natural light fills every room and the walls of windows offer views that remind you why you come to the mountains. We stayed for 5 weeks and will be back in just a few for another stay! HIGHLY recommend.
Our family absolutely loved everything about this house!

Lindsay,
It was great seeing your kids playing in the snow shortly after you all arrived from Texas. I'm curious if you changed your minds about purchasing property near Montrose now that you spent a week at Purgatory?
We're glad you enjoyed our home.

Our stay was wonderful. Very clean with all the amenities. Plenty of towels, blankets, kitchen items, seating and open feel. Host was welcoming. Highly recommend.
The house was very nice and had everything a person could need. My family and I had a great stay and would consider staying again for our next Durango trip.
Perfect place to stay if you are skiing purgatory! Every bedroom has its own bathroom. Everything is brand new and gorgeous, the pictures do not do it justice!! Will definitely stay here for another ski trip
The property was super clean and very nice. Lots of room for hanging out! Very convenient to many outdoor adventures and not that far from Durango. Bedrooms and bathrooms all very nice. Has all the amenities. Highly recommend and would definitely stay here again.

Toni,
Glad you had a great time visiting with your kids and their spouses! It sure makes it convenient when each couple has their own bedroom and bath. Only thing for your grown kids to fight over is who gets the king versus the queen :-).
Thank you all for visiting.

The house and location are beautiful , very easy access to purgatory ski resort , takes a while to get to town , but that is worth the sacrifice for the location, all the windows in the house allow you to see it snowing and just see all the beauty .It was perfect for a snowy Christmas vacation !!

Incredible accommodations and location. This home was exactly the quiet retreat described and desired. Great for enjoying nature, walking/hiking and nearby food choices did not disappoint either. Thanks to the host!
This home was well-built, modern, and well appointed. It sits in a beautiful area, with excellent hiking nearby. The drive to Silverton and Ouray is spectacular. A lovely place and well worth staying there.

About the host
Hosted by Sean McCormack
Sean grew up in the area, skiing every weekend at Purgatory, and graduating from Durango High School before leaving to experience life outside this rural community. After 25 years, he decided to move back to the mountains of Southwest Colorado to be close to family and all of the outdoor activities.
Why they chose this property
This area is the Saudi Arabia of solar energy, with plenty of water and lots of trees. It is easy to build a comfortable and highly sustainable life here. Sean also owns the 132 acres to the north. All of the houses (including this one), barns, and greenhouses were built using wood harvested from the property. The 27' x 110' greenhouse provides fruits and vegetables not only for Sean and Leslie, but for a number of other families in the area. Standing dead trees are harvested and provide a backup heat source for all the homes and buildings, with an additional 120 cords of wood harvested for sale, providing a carbon neutral source of heat. The trees are harvested primarily to improve the health of the forest.
What makes this property unique
There is nothing better than cozying up to a real wood fire after a full day of skiing, watching the snow fall during the winter, or lounging on the covered deck and watching the sun disappear over the mountains during the summer. The kids will have a great time exploring the forest, fishing in the nearby creeks or lake, biking, horseback riding, riding the Alpine Slide and Mountain Coaster at Purgatory, or the many other activities close by.
