Welcome to our cozy guest retreat in Ambleside, one of West Vancouver’s most desirable seaside neighbourhoods.

Our home is a spacious two-level property of approximately 3,000 sq. ft. Our family lives on the upper level, while guests stay on the lower level, which includes two comfortable bedrooms, one shared guest bathroom, and a guest living room.

The kitchen is located upstairs and is shared with our family. Guests are also welcome to enjoy our large backyard, a relaxing outdoor space shared with the other part of the house.

This is a great option for visitors who want a comfortable home base in a quiet West Vancouver neighbourhood with easy access to beaches, parks, restaurants, shopping, public transit, and North Shore attractions.

Our location is very convenient. We are in Ambleside, just a short walk to public transit and a short drive to beaches, parks, restaurants, cafés, convenience stores, shopping, and local attractions. Guests can easily explore Ambleside Beach, the West Vancouver waterfront, Park Royal, Dundarave, Horseshoe Bay, downtown Vancouver, Stanley Park, Grouse Mountain, Capilano Suspension Bridge, and other North Shore destinations.

Please note that this is a shared family home, not a full private house rental. Our family lives upstairs, and the kitchen and backyard are shared spaces. We also have two lovely, quiet Garfield cats, so the home is best suited for guests who are comfortable around cats.

If you are looking for a clean, comfortable, and convenient West Vancouver stay close to both nature and city access, our Ambleside guest retreat is a wonderful choice.

Initially, the listing stated the rental was the entire house, but it was actually the basement suite. It does appear that the listing has been updated/corrected to list the family is there, and the kitchen is a shared cooking space. If that's what you're looking for, the location is great, rooms were clean, beds were comfy (we stayed one night then went elsewhere) and the host was kind, prompt, and understanding.

This is NOT a private space, in any way!Very intentionally misleading spot! She says it’s a basement area with, she points out “shared kitchen” but the entire house is shared! The basement suite has ZERO privacy or security…there is an open stairway to the kitchen, dining room, main house…NO door, no lock! When the host reached out to make sure we knew they lived there she left out the fact she had young kids, cats (actually that is in the listing), her grandmother (I’m assuming). All they would have to do is buy a used door, max 100 and give a privacy break for the area we were in…they don’t, it’s a split curtain! You downstairs, whole family upstairs…NOT a private spot! The place is clean, open, nice but I had no desire to let anyone come down and have free access to where I was sleeping! We had to remove rubber bands off the door lock so we could lock the bedroom door! On the flip side, who in their right mind lets perfect strangers have access to their house and kids at night??? Very strange and did not give me comfort!! VRBO argued the fact, she said it was clearly a shared kitchen…even though TWO pictures are labeled “private kitchen”! It’s not the kitchen, I expected just basic privacy while staying there…not a SHARED HOUSE! The owner says she’s been doing this for 9 years…not an oversight, not a language thing, intentionally deceiving people!! Will NOT use VRBO again! At least air B&B lets you choose “whole house”!!!

I cannot recommend hosting Kyle. Kyle booked a stay from August 13 to August 16. Well in advance, on June 23, I sent him a message asking him to confirm if he still wished to keep the reservation after explicitly disclosing that my family lives upstairs (with a privacy curtain fully separating the levels). He never replied or requested to cancel, so I held the space for him. When he arrived on August 13 at 3:00 PM, my mother and son welcomed them and guided them in. The guests seemed friendly, went out, and returned around midnight. Only then—nearly 7 hours after check-in—did he contact platform support demanding a full refund due to a lack of privacy, while still choosing to stay the entire night. If the setup was truly unsatisfactory, he should have canceled upon arrival at 3:00 PM without occupying the rooms. Demanding a full refund while using the space, amenities, and leaving cleaning duties behind is completely unacceptable. Hosts should exercise extreme caution with this guest.
