The Mountain House

We had an amazing family getaway with our two girls, ages 3 and 1! We love how quiet and secluded the location was, we spent most nights in the backyard star gazing and enjoying only the sounds of nature.The house was so very clean when we arrived and we couldn’t believe how big it was. The kids loved all the space and the spiral staircase was a huge hit. The beds were comfortable, we all slept very well at night. And visiting in summer where everyday was in the high 80s, we were thrilled how cool the house stayed.The only issue we had was deciding which State Parks to visit! We spent a day at nearby Sinnemahoning State Park where the kids played in the welcome center/ at the playground/ and swam in the creek. It was a huge hit.We plan to return to what our daughter now refers to as “The Mountain House” as soon as possible!

The house is a work in progress. Pictures don't show the cosmetic shortcomings. Upstairs bar sink was inoperative. And some features are quirky, like indoor windows to help distribute AC to certain rooms. Driveway is long, gravel, and rutted. Its only conducive to sedans and bigger vehicles. If you're there to drive the lovely roads in the area with a sports car, driveway is challenging; lower than stock height cars will have problems. Good luck parking 10 cars, unless you scatter them along the driveway. Towels where thin and few. Hot water could be a problem for more than 4 or 5 people. Small circular staircase to 2nd floor, but outside access from yard is possible, once you figure out where the door is inside to unlock it. Beautiful roads, Cherry Springs State Park is worth a visit.
