Personal Resort

This VRBO provides you with your own personal resort in the backyard. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool, hot tub, outdoor pool table, yard games, and amazing BBQ cooking station! We had a blast on our vacation and this house was a big reason why!

Absolutely Amazing Retreat

This property and the host were amazing! The backyard is a gorgeous retreat with everything you need to relax with friends or family. The owners are even better! They were extremely accommodating and always responsive with any and all questions I had. I would recommend this place to any friends and will definitely stay here again.

Backyard Pool Paradise

Great experience. Excellent communication by host. Quiet residential neighborhood. House was clean and had very fast wifi. Our family spent most of our time by the pool or in the hot tub. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare Thanksgiving dinner (loved the double oven). Recommend walking up the street to Old Poway— nice park with shops and restaurants and farmers market (Sat 8-noon). Lake Poway 15 min drive for feeding ducks, and if you’re up for it, a scenic (but quite hilly) 3.5 mile loop hike.

Everything we expected, would stay again

We booked this place for the month, and it was almost perfect to be honest. First of all, the owner is very on top of things, communication was on point, and he is very responsive; very accommodating and understands you are on vacation, helps in every way. He ordered us new floaties and toys for the kids, and was responsive on anything we needed. The only challenge we faced was the plumbing which was taken care of within the first week, seems like the previous tenants clogged it. The place itself is clean, great location, amazing backyard, pool is just fabulous, and backyard is great. A/C is great, fans in every room, TV's are nice and place is well maintained with pool and gardener as well. Great place for family and kids to be honest, one of the more complete ones I have booked at. I would book it again, and probably will as the owner is honest and responsive. Thanks Aref for the stay and look forward to the next trip.

Pretty good with some minor room for improvement

My family who is 4 children (they did charge me extra for my 4th child who is still a minor) and my husband stayed here for a week and had a very good time. The house was spacious and the outdoor area was amazing and where we spent the majority of our time. They also had filtered water which was great and had been a concern of mine. The owner was kind and made sure I knew about the activities in the area. The reasons this house is minus a start is because of the following things 1- the kitchen was a little under stocked. There were no bowls to make salads or mix anything. Only cereal type bowls. It made it difficult to prepare meals for our family. It also did not have a vegetable peeler, or a regular coffee machine (with no reusable KCup), and only had paper towels instead of real hand towels, which I do not like using on our dishes or in general really. 2- In order for the hot tub and water fall (shown in pictures) to be turned on I had to message the owner to ask for them to be turned on. He was responsive most of the time but it made it a little awarkd. It would turn off while we were still in it and it made it inconvenient to have to be in constant contact with him just to have the hot tub on. 3- we got eaten pretty badly by spiders while we slept.

Our stay was good but the property needs a lot of work and more details

I’m going to start with all the things we liked about this property but please finish this review before you book. 1- the TV room was awesome. The TV was huge and there was plenty of seating for everyone to enjoy a movie comfortably. 2- the kitchen was big and had everything you’ll need to cook. 3- the beds were SO comfortable! So we’re the pillows and blankets. So don’t judge the pictures of the bedrooms. Because the beds were 10 out of 10. 4- we were greeted with a hand written note and 2 sample bottles of some of the most amazing wine from the host. It was a really nice touch! Ok so now for the things that we feel could have been better. 1- the house needs updating for sure. 2- bathrooms were awful especially the master bathroom. The shower was either scolding hot or freezing cold. The shower curtain fell like 10 times. And the water pressure was bad. The shower head also wasn’t adjustable and was pointing towards the shower curtain and it made the floor always wet. 3- the kitchens small appliances were not clean (juicer) 4- the house itself was not a homie feeling at all. It had no decorations for the most part and just felt very empty. 5- the backyard was very dirty. The patio wasn’t cleaned off at all and so we were walking on dirt, dry leaves, and berries from the massive tree. There were spider webs literally EVERYWHERE. 6- the pool toys, and lounge chairs were so dirty we couldn’t use them. We wanted to lounge but the chairs were caked in spider webs and leaves and berries so we didn’t even bother trying to clean them off ourselves. 7-there was random trash everywhere. In the drawers and cupboards, outside by the fridge area, and in the front yard. 8- the inside fridge never got cold enough. We had to put all our food in the outside fridge and that was an inconvenience for sure. 9- the neighborhood is not a nice neighborhood either. The first few houses are. But the rest of the neighborhood is rough. 10- the listing need improvement. It doesn’t explain that there’s orange, lemon, or avocado trees and a juicer to utilize them. 11- I do feel like the pictures were misleading. It looked a lot cleaner then it actually was. 12- if you want to use the jacuzzi you have to message the host via the VRBO app which was a major pain but he was really responsive 13- the pool was FREEZING. Even after a few days of the heater being on. We did like this place and the host a lot it just needs updating for sure.

Great property

The back yard is awesome. The house was more spacious than we expected. Only downsides were: 1. Have to contact owner to turn on hot tub. Takes about 30 mins to warm up. Doesn't take much effort, but would be nice to have a way to control on our own. Maybe a timer? 2. The property appeared to cater to shorter term rentals, and we were there for more than a week. Would have appreciated more cooking utensils and dishes. 3. The air conditioning magically stopped working when we left the property. Probably correlated to a camera being on the front of the house. It was resolved when I reset the wifi on the controller, so someone else controlling the HVAC had to have been the issue. Overall, would I stay there again... yes! There are some things the owner can improve on, particularly at this price point, but the property is truly an oasis. Beds were comfy and big. Owner communication was excellent.

Great family stay

This house was great for our family of 4 with two young kids. We really loved the outdoor space, which is the best feature. The house itself is in a good location and safe, quiet neighborhood. The interior could do with some fresh updating to achieve a grander vacation feel, but the house was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. I’m really grateful for the dedicated laundry room. All the amenities were in good condition and well taken care of. The host was amazing, great communication, very friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure we were having a wonderful stay.

Fabulous Rental for Relaxing !!

This home has all the amenities- Indoors: extremely clean facility, large and well stocked kitchen, filtered water cooler, large dining area, great family room with games and 70+ inch TV, 2 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms. Our grandchildren loved the spacious areas or openess of the floor plan. Although we didn't use them, there were several desk/work stations located in various rooms throughout the house. Old Poway Park was an added attraction we hadn't counted on. Note - the exterior is resort-like, and to die for! Outdoors: pool and wood shuffleboard tables, lawn games, barbecue grill with bar counter, an enormous pool with spa, waterfall, extended toddler wading area, and an in-water table for sitting and chilling around. There is ample seating, numerous lounge chairs and even a canopied bed. The grounds were well maintained and beautifully landscaped. Our family enjoyed returning to this home to relax after a busy day of touring. We were enthralled by Old Poway Park where we shot several unique family photos. We look forward to renting this venue again in the near future- we intend to spend less time touring and more time relaxing. We had no issues, but we noted the owner was extremely timely and responsive to all our queries. Definitely a 5 star experience!

Hidden Oasis

This is the second summer that we've stayed at this property. You would never know that a property like this could exist in a fairly standard suburban neighborhood. But from the second you drive through the gates and up the ling driveway lined with fruit trees and flowers, you feel like you're on a sprawling estate. The house itself has bedrooms that are plenty big and comfortable, a standard kitchen with about everything you'll need to cook whatever and two bathrooms with showers. The places we spend the most time is the spacious family room with the big screen tv and foosball table......and the oasis in the backyard! Plenty of shade, a beautiful pool and hot tub. The saltwater pool lets you swim all day without getting irritated skin. The plants all over the backyard attract lots of butterflies and there are plenty of outdoor games for my family to play. There's also a full outdoor kitchen that makes it capable of hanging out while cooking full meals. We really enjoy staying here and look forward to doing so again next year

Great family time

We had a great time at this vacay property . communication w property owner was great ! He accommodated our early check in and was always available everytime we contacted him even had a wine bottle for us in the fridge. Inside of home was very clean. Towels n bedding smelled fresh. kitchen is beautiful and stocked w some essentials n had pots n pans. The only negatives were bathroom in master was slow to drain n outside needed a little tlc ie. Spiderweb n dust. The pool and jacuzzi were amazing my kids loved the wade pool and outdoor BBQ helped us make big meals for our big fam. Would Def stay again thank you

Backyard oasis

Great location in Poway. Easy walking distance to downtown shops, restaurants, train museum and parks. Our kids really enjoyed the beautiful backyard! Clean, comfortable, and excellent communication with the host.

Fantastic place to stay

The only thing that surpassed the property itself, and particularly the backyard, which is by far the best I've ever seen in a rental, was the responsiveness and hospitality of the host. I had an incredible experience during my stay and would highly recommend this property to anyone with families, or anyone in general.

Great backyard

Overall, I would rent this place again. When I travel, I care about cleanliness, comfortable beds/sleeping arrangements, a view, and comfortable seating arrangements in the living room and dining room. Sleeping arrangements: when I was booking this rental online, I was nervous because the furniture and bedding looked pretty shabby in the pictures. When I arrived on-site I was surprised that the mattress and pillows were actually comfortable and the blankets were warm. It was also nice to have 3 rooms with large beds. It was so nice of the owner to also provide a large dog bed. One thing that was really weird, was the cushioned toilet seat in the master bathroom. Not sure how hygienic that is. I used a lot of Lysol wipes daily. View: There is no view of the pool from inside the house. It would have been nice to have a slider off the den to watch the kids in the pool… The floor plan for the grounds are a little weird. It’s like 2 houses were on the lot before. There’s a really big front yard that’s hidden by trees and the gate. There’s a weird 1/2 built shed thing on the side of the property that looks like someone gave up on construction. I’m sure a lot of the house were additions over the years. Not a big deal. Rest of the back yard is fine. Comfortable sitting in living room and Dining Room: This is where this house excels. I get really annoyed with rentals that sleep 6 people, but only have 4 dining room chairs or 1 couch. This place had great seating for up to 8 people at the dining room table . It also had 2 sofas, a recliner chair and a futon in the den, which made it really comfortable to hang out as a family. The property was great for my group of 4. It could easily sleep 6 people and 2 kids, comfortably. Cleanliness: There weren’t bugs or anything, but there was definitely room for improvement. There seemed to be junk lying around all over the backyard. Also the cookware/utensils in the kitchen drawers was sub par. It’s fine for a bunch of dudes that are just there to party, but someone should just spend a weekend throwing stuff away and creating nice storage space for pool toys when they are not being used. I guess it’s also nice for families with small kids because you don’t have to worry about them accidentally breaking something really expensive. Overall, the backyard, comfortable sitting areas, and comfortable bedding makes this a solid 4 star rental. I would come back again with the family.

Hidden gem Oasis Escape

The pictures don’t do it justice. You find little beautiful hidden gems everywhere in the property. From the fruit trees to the landscaping. Having Coffee laundry detergent and even a welcome bottle of wine was wonderful. Felt like we lived a California Dream. Host was super communicative, accommodating and helpful. Tip bring sandals as the stone does get cold. Outside of that, your in for an amazing getaway. You won’t want to leave the property. We loved it so much we extended our week. Thanks for a great Stay! Amazing backyard

The home itself was clean and comfortable. Unexpected bonus was all the desks and monitors, a real boon for those who needed to do a tiny bit of work during our staycation. Also, the Disney+ already set up was clutch for the little ones. The real star though is definitely the backyard. Beautiful pool and bbq set up. We even lit the fire pit. Host set up the backyard with pool floaties and even a lighter next to the fire pit. A lot of attention to the experience. Thanks for a great stay!

Awesome pool and backyard

This backyard and pool is amazing! Our friends had a great time lounging by pool, relaxing in the jacuzzi, and grilling in the outdoor kitchen. There are lots of pool toys and floaties and the backyard has a nice mix of shade and sun. The backyard is not fully fenced so if you have dogs or little ones who like to wander, make sure you keep a close eye. There were extra towels in the laundry room which was nice. The interior of the house is simple but comfortable. The kitchen has nice pots, pans, and knives, but could use a few more items like cookie sheets and basic cooking utensils. I’d say this place really only sleeps 6 unless you bring your own air mattress and linens since the 4th bed for guests 7 and 8 is quite small and in the living room and no linens were provided. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay and the promptness of Aref’s communication. Would definitely stay again!

Amazing Stay!

From the moment you walk through the door, you are greater with a welcoming environment. You automatically have a feeling of being at home with the beautiful set up of the home. I was greater with a welcome note which put me and my family at ease and it let us feel as if we were really appreciated for being there. Once you exit and go to the back yard you are taken to a resort like feel, the backyard is huge, the pool is lovely, and the lights which turn on set the mood for a short getaway from all the traffic and noise of the city. I really enjoyed my stay and will happily recommend this to anyone who is looking for a nice quick getaway.

We had a wonderful stay! The backyard is incredible and it felt like we were at our own private resort. We loved the gorgeous pool, hot tub, fire pit, grill, and lawn games. Home base for a family of 5

This place was perfect for our family during our vacation. The house had everything we needed in order to not feel like we needed much else. It was about 20-30 min from all the downtown stuff but it was also pretty close to everything around San Diego. With the saltwater pool the kids could swim all day without getting wrinkly and chlorinated. There was enough great seating around the pool that you could comfortably be near the water without getting in. There is also a door that went directly from the backyard to the bathroom which made getting the kids showered afterwards a breeze without wet footprints covering the length of the house. There was every food and store that you could imagine and most of it would be a short walk away if you didn't feel like driving. It was a secluded Paradise that made us feel like even if we didn't leave the house, we had everything we needed to know we were on a relaxing vacation. We look forward to staying here again next time we head to San Diego

Why they chose this property

This property is a paradise for kids who love to jump in the pool and all the floats to choose from. The waterfall adds a soothing touch to the experience. The hot tub's jets relaxes the body.

Wonderful for relaxing family vacation. Landscaping and lighting around the pool is lovely. Plenty of seating and outdoor BBQ area with long bar space made eating outside easy (there is a large dining room table inside as well). Multiple fridges including one by outside BBQ was extra convenient. You can make s'mores and marshmallow in the fire pit. Comfortable family room where kids could play with toys and extra large tv for movies is nice. Location is great, in walking distance to cute shops and kids train station at old poway park.
