Watauga Lake is Beautiful
We enjoyed the cabin. It was well stocked and clean. There is not a lake view from the cabin and a pretty long walk to the dock. We had a boat and made it work but the walk up the hill multiple times a day was hard. The cabin was very comfortable and worked well for our group.

Exceptional week. Property was great. House very comfortable and stocked with everything we needed. Butler has an interesting history and we thoroughly enjoyed the museum tour with Juanita. And the lagniappe(a little something extra) of deer meat from Cheryl was a real treat.

Gorgeous! Perfect for meeting up with family in North Carolina!
~This was the perfect "meet in the middle" cabin for us and our cousins from North Carolina. ~The owners were great and quick to respond to any questions we had. Check in/out was super easy, as well. The cabin was beautiful and, although you cannot see the lake from the cabin, it's nestled amongst the trees and has a spectacular view of the mountains, and you can experience beautiful sunsets. All of the doors have the ability to open just a screen door and let in the mountain breeze throughout the entire cabin. There's a fireplace with gas logs in the living room which makes it cozy feeling at night. ~The kitchen was well stocked and even had a really nice digital thermometer for the steaks we cooked on the outdoor gas grill one night. ~The master bedroom (with a king bed) and bathroom were amazing. The shower is large and has two shower heads in it. There are two bedrooms on the second floor with queen beds. They share a bathroom. ~On the third floor, it's all open (you can look over the railing down to the first floor) and huge. Perfect place for kids to hang out and play air hockey, take naps or play board games...all of which our "kids" (technically adults, but they're in college, so still kids to us :) did and enjoyed. I will say, like others have mentioned, it's all open so you can hear everything they are saying, as well as they can hear everything you say on the first floor, which was actually kinda cool because I didn't have to walk up all those steps every morning to wake them up, I just yell up to them to wake up. Lol! I will mention also that there isn't a bathroom on the third floor, so anyone that stays up there will have to use one of the bathrooms/showers on the first or second floor. ~The owners left a sweet little basket of items to make s'mores, and we did at the outdoor gas fireplace :) which is on the deck right outside the sliding door from the living room. ~A couple of mornings we took a walk around to the lake (absolutely breathtaking that time of morning!), and we saw the dock, but we didn't go down there, only because we weren't really there for the water...and it was chilly this time of year, but it's nice. ~Overall, it was a great place to get together with family we only see once a year. We hung out and chilled together, went to High Country UTV Tours near Roan Mountain (SO fun!), took a little hike at Roan Mountain, played games, and watched the UT/Alabama game...GO VOLS! :D ~Definitely recommend!

Why they chose this property

Owning a mountain home and a lake home has always been a dream to us. This is the best of both worlds, and the beauty of this mountain-lake is just breathtaking. In a time when the world was all stuck within the walls of their own home, we decided to purchase this beautiful cabin as a way to escape, explore, enjoy the beauty around us, and share it with others wanting to do the exact same thing! No matter the season, the views are stunning here, I promise you!
